Rented a car for a week. During this week someone who owned a dog had sat in the backseat. The dog hair came off of their coat and onto the upholstery. It was only a few spots, nothing really to get excited about. In fact, the rental guy had to point out where the passenger had dirtied their vehicle. They told use we had make sure there was NO hair on the seat or they would charge the credit card for a full auto detail which would cost between $250-300?!? We used some packing tape to lift the couple of pieces of hair off of the seat, and then handed them the keys. read more

Hello, I have recently had an interaction with Enterprise Car Rental Company. It has been a pretty painful experience where they hide behind verbal policies but have not supplied any written documentation to back up their high pressure tactics. After being hit by a red light runner my insurance company set me up with enterprise to get me by while my truck was being repaired. Upon returning the vehicle the felt/fabric undercarriage cover was hanging below the vehicle. They were adamant that I was responsible for the damages. I was not happy with this considering that I had been pretty careful about where I was driving and only took the truck on paved/maintained city roads and highways. I claimed that a felt undercover tearing at the corner was wear and tear opposed to damage. On the walk around we checked for damages in the paint and windshield. The attendee and I never checked the interior, engine compartment, or undercarriage. I disputed that it seems unreasonable to be tagged responsible for something that we did not inspect before leaving. They asked how much me deductible was, foolishly I answered. They stated that I had two options to either pay them a $500 deductible that they would pay to my insurance company when I submitted an insurance claim number to them or to pay them the $500 damage deposit. I was uncomfortable with this so I asked that they first find out the extent of the damage before I would consider paying them. They were adamant that I had to pay. I asked them how they decide how much to charge someone for a deposit. To which they responded that they were doing me a favor in which they should be charging me $1000 for a damage deposit. They started talking about using collections agencies to hound me and claiming that I was being difficult because I asked for proof or documentation that I was obligated to pay the damage deposit then and how they determined their damage deposit amount. None of which was supplied. After a few hours of going back and forth with the manager he printed a document that stated that I would agree to pay the damages when we knew the amount owing. I was not comfortable to sign this and wanted to get a legal opinion before taking this liability on. When he saw my hesitations to sign the document he threatened to go straight to collections if I did not sign the document and pay a damage deposit. I was concerned about collections hurting my credit rating and signed the document and paid a damage deposit of $150. I complained to my Insurance Agency who ¨investigated¨ and advised me to pay out of pocket. I complained to the regional manager of Enterprise who stated that ¨He was sorry that I felt threatened but that his employees were only following policy and speaking plainly¨. I asked the manager for documentation that they had check or serviced the undercarriage recently to which he replied ¨we probably don´t have any¨ but that I was still responsible as nothing was reported before. Once the bill was sent to me they charged me approximately $150 for the part and install as well as $300 for running codes to see if there were any code errors that showed up. I disputed this fee with them as it had no bearing on the undercarriage cloth that was repaired. Their answer was that it was simply protocol. I asked for documentation of this being policy and stated that if we are on the hook for an additional $300 unrelated to the damage that it should be in their agreement before hand. At the end of the day, I stated that the bill does not make sense and that I disagreed that I should be charged for damage that is general wear and tear to their vehicle. They had no proof that the vehicle was in working order before I left the lot. I was not authorizing any more payment on my credit card. The regional manager has stated that he will be using collections on this case in the near future. read more

Yesterday, an Enterprise management trainee from the Lethbridge location arrived a few minutes early at my place of employment to pick me up and take me to my rental car. He didn't know I wasn't comfortable with the idea of renting a new car (my last car rental experience in Toronto at a different car rental company was horrible), but after talking with him on our way to Enterprise in Lethbridge, I began to feel at ease. He spent time explaining the various functions of the vehicle and the rental agreement to me in detail. By the time I left there, I felt confident knowing that he had my best interest in mind. This was the BEST customer service experience I've EVER had in the rental car business, so I asked him for his business card. Thank you, Chris Kapusta! If you were selling cars, I'd buy one!
