The Tap is a small restaurant, in the heart of Epworth. It is family run and offers a friendly atmosphere and service. The setting is quaint, with a log fire and tables set out in such a way so as to ensure a private and intimate dining experience.
There is dining both on the lower and upper floors and this often gets fully booked so I would recommend booking in advance. If possible, request a table downstairs as it is more atmospheric.
The Tap offers lunch and dinner on Wednesdays to Saturdays and Sunday lunch.
Lunches are reasonably priced, starting at around £3.95 for a bowl of homemade soup. There is a good selection of food on offer on a lunchtime menu, mainly comprising baguettes and then a specials board, offering larger meals.
Dinners are more highly priced but you are paying for quality. Starters tend to be around £8, main courses from around £16 to £25 and desserts around £6. I have never had a bad meal there and have always found them to be worth the money. In addition there is an extensive wine list.
On Wednesday and Thursday nights there is also a 'bistro' menu on offer which features some cheaper, yet equally delicious dishes.
Occasionally, there are speciality nights and these are priced at around £30 for 4 courses.
Finally, rumour has it that the Tap is haunted. read more
