When you choose a photographer you hope for two things...That they show up on time, and that the pictures turn out beautiful. Both of these were not achieved by Erica Rose. In fact, pictures from our beautiful event weren't even seen. Booking Erica for our parents anniversary was great. She was so nice and bubbly on the phone and we were able to get a hold of her easily to discuss details. We were really excited to meet her at the venue. Our party started at 6:30 and we asked her to arrive 15 minutes prior to that time. She showed up at 45 after. We were disappointed but she showed up with a smile and seemed ready to work so we let it go. We informed her which plate would be hers for dinner but asked that during dinner she went around and got some candid photos of our guests. She got up and took 1 photo of each table after eating and then asked to take the family photos that we wanted so she could leave afterward. This was only 1 1/2 hours into the event and we paid for 3 so we expected her to stay the remainder of the time and handed her her check then. Our mistake. She stayed another 15 minutes after taking our family photos (which we were so looking forward to seeing) and then left. We were shocked at the service we received. Especially because we liked her so much before she tried to jip us on time. A few days after the event we got a phone call from a very sorry Erica letting us know that our photos were accidentally deleted from the memory card and that they could not be recovered. While devastated we knew that there was ways to get those photos back because we have 2 very tech-savvy guys in our family and they've had experience with this very issue. She refused to let us try any of their techniques but was very apologetic. The good news is we received our money back. The bad news is, we have no photos of that night, and for a family who loves to document everything with images, this was a hard pill to swallow. read more

I love Erica. We hired her to for an engagement shoot and our wedding shoot. We had the engagement shoot last weekend (on the hottest day of the year so far). Even though it was hot, the pictures came out beautifully. We dragged her all around my old hood (Lakeview) and she took pictures in alleys, the brown line stop, a bookstore, and even in the Yogen Fruz. She made us look good, and not like the semi awkward nerds we are. I can't wait until my wedding next year for those pictures. Erica was absolutely amazing and I would recommend her to anyone! She photographed our June wedding and we are so please with the photos and her professionalism. I cherish all of my pictures so when it came time for me to get married I wanted to be very sure that we had a great photographer to capture beautiful pictures on our wedding day. My husband and I chose Erica Rose who not only met but exceeded our expectations. Erica is super friendly, sweet and knows what she's doing when it comes to wedding pictures. She was very professional in our meetings before the wedding and listened and was open to all suggestions that we had. When it came time for the wedding, she was punctual and was super kind to everyone. She toured us around great places downtown to take pictures highlighting the city. Without a doubt, Erica was my favorite wedding vendor. To the point where I asked her to go to dinner after the wedding was over! She couldn't be sweeter or more talented. She has such an artistic eye, but very much lets you choose what kind of pictures you're looking for. On our wedding day, it was like having a friend there. She kept everyone calm and kept pictures moving quickly. She captured simple moments in the most beautiful way. She recently moved to Alaska, but it would be worth your money to invite her back to Chicago for your wedding photos. With such talent, you'd expect her prices to be ridiculous and they were the most fair I found in my (extensive) search. For our engagement and wedding photographer, we couldn't ask for more. Out of all these sunny days, of course we ended up with rain TWICE! First at our engagement photo shoot, we experienced a hail storm. Just when I was about to get disappointed and give up, Erica kept her energy and professionalism and continued to shoot. When we started looking for vendors for our wedding, finding the right photographer was most important to me because our wedding pictures are going to be the memories we look back on for the rest of our lives. I hired Erica Rose in early 2010 for my wedding to my long-distance fiance. My now-husband was still in Japan while we planned the wedding, and I needed affordabe people to lean on! I feel so blessed that we chose Erica Rose! She showed up early to shoot candids of the venue, rings, flowers, and even my family putting up the decorations! (As a scrap-booker, I LOVE these shots because on your wedding day, so much is happening it can be hard to acknowledge all of the fine details!) We had an outdoor wedding, and though it didn't rain, it was cool, cloudy, and VERY WINDY. Erica Rose somehow managed to use her camera like a magic wand!!! My veil flying around to attack my maid-of-honor looks elegant and dramatic, the unity candles not lighting looks like a humorous inside-joke between us and the whole family, and everyone's hair flapping to the side turned out rather epic-looking! She really is a master of using natural light to her advantage and waiting for the perfect second to snap the shot! As a final surprise, my husband (a guitarist) had written a song for me-- and Erica Rose's photos of him singing/playing are some of my FAVORITE photos ever. Our living room is practically an homage to her work! And as a final note, I AM a photographer. Have been for 10 years. But you can't shoot your own wedding. I honestly don't know where to start. Our search for a photographer started in 2010 and she was one of the first photographers that I cam across. I loved everything about Erica Rose's blog and website. Her opening music to the website was one of my favorite songs, so I took that as a sign. Erica was fantastic from the beginning. From emails to engagement photo shoots, to changing my wedding date 3 times - Erica was there though it all and was always cool, professional, patient, and super understanding. I can't say enough good things about Erica. As a person, and as a photographer. She is one of the most talented photographers I've seen and we were so lucky to have found her. She was the first "vendor" we picked when we started the wedding planning process, because capturing such a special moment in our lives was the most important to us. We knew after meeting her and seeing her work that there was no one else who would be a better choice for us. We didn't even have a venue yet! She just has such a sweet personality, she is so humble and gracious about her amazing work. We actually decided to have a destination wedding in California, and she was willing to fly out and photograph our day! And WOW! We couldn't believe how much fun we had with her throughout the day.
