Today it is an active Catholic parish, and it also offers tours of the cathedral, clock tower, and house of accounting. Currently tours have a fee for non-disabled, non-resident people over the age of 12. I felt most interested in the beautiful exterior architecture of the church. The front facade has two towers and three porticoes that contain Corinthian columns and sculptures of patron saints.

The Gothic Cathedral endured with some reforms carried out in the 15th and 16th centuries until it was burned by the Anglo-Dutch squadron commanded by Admiral Howard and the Earl of Essex, which attacked, invaded and sacked Cádiz in 1596 until it was abandoned, already burned. in the middle of July. When you want to check out the Cathedral, you'll be able to skip the winding line and walk up to the front with your receipt! There is an audio option available for this church. Inside is very ornate and beautiful! Definitely something to check out if you're interested in Spanish history and religion.

Guided tour was definitely the best way to visit this amazing cathedral…read more We met in the designated guided tour entrance which was along Av. De La Constitución. We booked the English tour at 15:30 and that would last for about 1.5 hours. Nestor was our guide and met everyone outside. He was a great source of information throughout this tour, patient and also made sure all of our questions were answered. The tour took a limited number of visitors and brought us into areas not accessible on the regular admission including the choir and the largest main altar in the world. The main altar was just amazing to see and it was even larger than the one we saw years ago at the cathedral primada in Toledo. We also viewed one of the most famous occupants in the Cathedral, the monumental tomb to Christopher Columbus. When the tour ended he also brought some of the group over to the entrance to the Giralda, bell tower, to climb the ramps all the ways to the top. Unfortunately by that hour it was hailing and pouring rain so it was difficult to take in the above views of Seville. We did come back the next morning to partake in mass which took place before the general admission. It was a unique experience made even better with the accompanying choir with the organ. This was also the only time one could see the Chapel of Santa Maria de la Antigua before the curtains were drawn across the gate.

I've heard the guided tour is worth it - we just walked the property, wished I would have at least had the English audio guide. Great place to see while in Seville - you should go. Would I go back? If I were bringing others, yes. On my own again, probably not - once was good enough.

The church from the outside is so architecturally beautiful, but when you get inside and see all of the huge statues and paintings. The Church of San Antonio and the square are located on the Red and Blue Line self-guided tours which are painted on the street in Cadiz.
