I'm surprised to see there are no reviews for the Downtown Escape, but I'll happily be the first…read more As of last time I was here in September 2020, they have two escape rooms (and I believe a third is in the works). I have not done The Carnival yet, but I've done Log City Cabin twice with different groups, and far enough apart that I couldn't rely on memory to solve any puzzles the second time. The Downtown Escape is squirreled away on like the 3rd floor of an office building, so it takes a few minutes to find it if you don't know where you're going. But they have a waiting room with a Nintendo 64 and an insanely huge and impressive collection. When I went in September with my girlfriend and her family, we were able to squeeze in some Mario Kart 64 while waiting for the room to be ready. The real draw of course is the escape room. I found the puzzles to be clever and challenging without being too hard to solve. The logic with which you have to approach the puzzles is easy to understand, it's clear from the beginning what you have to do to succeed, and it's pretty well balanced and most importantly fun. I definitely plan to return and do the Carnival room, and also whatever new one they come out with in the future.

Very happy with the experience, the owner was super friendly and debriefed with us afterwards. I think it had a good mix puzzle types that felt very satisfying to solve. We called ahead to inquire for our group of 9 kids ranging from 11 to 19 and they said the only…read morerooms available for our group size was the clown and serial killer room. My daughter started crying when I told her because she's scared of clowns and the other room had killer in it. I assured her it would be fine and it's just looking for clues. Her cousins convinced her to come so we decided to book it. When we got there it looked very shady! It was in a strip mall with a bunch of vacant shops and the front facade was super shady looking so it totally had the ambiance. We were contemplating turning back but glad we continued. Once inside it was fine. We walked along the hallway and got to the entrance and the owner greeted us very nicely. They let us see both rooms so we could choose which one to do. We chose the serial killer room and the other owner went thru some ground rules. Then we started the escape room. It was pretty challenging and we just finished with 9 mins 26 secs to go. There were a bunch of clues and the guy would let us signal him thru a walkie talkie to get one of our 3 free extra clues but to get any more they said we would need to dance and it would be published on Facebook so we didn't want to use our clues. We finally used the extra clues from the guy to help us. There was a cool entrance into a 2nd room. I won't give any clues away but it was fun. I go to escape rooms near Chicago and they're usually a lot more around $30 per person but this was a steal at around $15 per person. All in all exceeded our expectations!

Even though it's an almost 2 hour drive for us, it's very much worth it. The entire staff is very kind & welcoming. Super friendly to chat with too. The puzzles were fun & engaging and just the right level of difficult to make it fun but not too easy (2 adults, 2 pre-teens) Also love that many pieces were 3D printed. We are avid 3D printers so it was fun to see all the different things that were in there. Also, I cant forget to mention our game master, Julia, she was SO awesome, very friendly & helpful. If you're in the area for any reason I highly recommend stopping in for a fun game.

The hints were great because they still made us think and work together to answer the clue and move along through the game. The hour experience was so much fun. When asking for our clue's it was pretty quickly when we were able to see it on the screen. We were pretty close in solving the mystery but of course our time ran out. Draper Glass is a glassblowing studio that offers classes to the public. During our visit we learned about making those glass pumpkins that are EVERYWHERE in the fall (that I've been not-so-secretly coveting), and then, with hands-on assistance, we got to make our own! Jeremie is the owner of J. Draper, and she worked one-on-one with my boyfriend and me. She was incredibly helpful, nice, and funny. Jeremie and her associates have the whole process down to a science, telling you exactly where to stand, when, making the class safe as well as fun. It was so cool to pick out colors and then make my pumpkin, and I equally loved watching my classmates' pumpkins take shape. J. Draper offers all kinds of classes that cater to a variety of interests and price ranges. There are also dozens of pieces of glass art for sale at the studio if you just want to pick up something beautiful for yourself or a friend. I highly recommend taking a class at J. Draper Glass! It was a fun and unique experience that I'll remember for a very long time.
