Our teenage kids and their friends (15 years old) went here 3x during our one week stay at Whistler! They have 6 different escape rooms to choose from, with difficulty levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Our kids did the Pirate Ship room (beginner), Yukon Gold room (intermediate/advanced) and Rabbit Hole room (advanced). They had a great time in all of them. There is a 45 minute time limit to escape the room. Price is around $40/person. Rooms accommodate 2-6 people. No phones or cameras allowed in the rooms. Best to make a reservation online. read more

Coolest escape room ever! Our kids (14 and 16) picked the "Pinball Machine" room after hearing it was both challenging and fun (plus our family loves pinball + games in general). Let me just say, it did not disappoint! If you're looking for a throwback '80s arcade vibe, colorful and immersive décor, and some seriously creative puzzles...this is the escape room for you. The staff were all amazing. Super friendly and incredibly helpful (which we definitely appreciated, as our family required more than a few clues along the way). The rooms themselves are intense and hands-on...making you think outside the box, while testing your problem-solving skills (and your family dynamics haha). This one definitely requires dexterity and coordination (with many puzzles needing physical interaction and two or more people working together at the same time). These escape rooms are by far the best we've ever experienced and with every penny. I share similar views to others who have written reviews- we've done many escape rooms in other cities and these are the most detailed, cool and intricate ones we have ever done. We first came here in 2019 and did 4 of the rooms and any escape rooms we've done since have never lived up to the experience here. They have since expanded and added on other rooms and each time we come back to Whistler, we do any new rooms. These are also unique in that you can do a room with just 2 people, whereas the other escape rooms we've done you need a larger group. They give you a cubby where you can lock your jackets, phones, etc so you don't have to worry about your stuff being taken or about bringing it into the room with you. This is our third escape room and we were very impressed by how interactive and creative the Underwater Lair was. Highly highly recommend! We've only done escape rooms in bigger groups so we were a little nervous about doing it as just a pair but it worked out wonderfully. Staff was great and friendly, attentive and clearly paying attention during our game. Fun! We have done all except the most difficult one. Our favorite are the Gold Mine and the Underwater one. The pirate ship one is best for people with kids, easy. This escape room was very well designed. The items were very well thought out and the ideas and story were cool and fun. Also, the employees were very nice. Yet, the clues were very challenging and for children required more time than the 45 mins allotted to go through the rooms. It felt like they were rushing us just to pack in more guests and make money. A better approach would be to give the guests up to 75 mins to complete the clues, or at least to give more time to groups with children. Otherwise, it feels like a real downer for folx not to complete the clues. read more

This is my 2nd Escape room experience ever. I went with work colleagues. First visit we did the Pirate Ship! It was so fun we were laughing at each other as we struggled with opening things etc. This is a beginner room but we still didn't Escape. Then we saw families with kids escaping, so don't overthink it LOL. We still had a blast! There were 4 in our party. I went back a week later with work colleagues again, this time we tackled The Pinball room. Oh the nostalgia! I liked this one alot, it's rated Intermediate. We actually Escaped this one. There were only 3 of us this time. Don't forget your reading glasses! Perfect activity if you want something different to do in Whistler. If it's too hot out, or a rainy one! Amazing! You have to go!! We had the BEST time, so much so that we went twice during our trip! I can't say enough about the staff! When part of our group got stuck waiting for a hotel shuttle the escape whistler team jumped in their own car to pick them up! So kind! Everything is so well laid out, and impeccably clean. We did both the pirate ship and the underwater escapes. Pirate is great to start, especially for our 8 and 6 year old kids who were able to figure out a ton of the clues in both rooms. If you get stuck the staff gives you clues thru a walk-in talkie. The kids and adults LOVED it! So fun to see how we all worked through different challenges. It was still quite challenging for us and we had to ask for a few hints. As an escape room addict, I can honestly say that this place is in my top spot currently. It has everything for a seasoned escape room person and isn't heavily complicated for a beginner. This is probably the most expensive escape room places my friends and I have been. We normally have no problem spending the money to play multiple games but this was a tough spend... almost $70(after tax) per person for two games. YIKES. that's $20 more than most places in and around Vancouver. The upside to the amount is that you can absolutely tell the money goes into the rooms. The two rooms we did had so much detail and props included in the setup of the room that you just don't see elsewhere. Rabbit hole was phenomenal and the whole time we wished we had our phones solely so we could take photos of how cool everything looked. Pinball was also incredibly detailed and included a multitude of different puzzles and set ups. The staff was helpful and communicate with you via radio so as to not to ruin the magic of the experience. They're always keeping a close eye and help guide you in the right direction. You have a timer on you as well to see how long you have left so you don't have to run back to the first room to check (how most rooms are set up). If and when I go back to whistler, I will absolutely be back to test out the other rooms and will recommend it to anyone who goes to visit. read more

While the room itself was incredible, we were a little annoyed because we had solved some of the clues but it seemed that the staff didn't notice. More than once we asked for a clue, and the answer ended up being something we'd already tried. They even radioed to us twice, asking which buttons we'd pressed or what numbers we clicked, because they weren't watching. For $40 a pop, we were a little upset because it felt like most of our time was wasted by staff who didn't watch what we were doing. We had a group of 7 - three kids (ages 11, 11, and 13) and four adults. We had a terrific time! I had never been to an escape room before, and this was really well done. From the handcuffs to start all the way through our victory photo at the end, we were laughing, excited, and engaged. Everyone got to participate and contribute. Amazing experience! We had so much fun after doing the Pirate escape room that we immediately booked another escape for that evening. The only one available that same night was the Cabin room. As most folks say there aren't a lot pictures to show, but I would say that the theming was awesome. I haven't done another escape room before but this was setup just like I would have imagined it. This is hands down, THE BEST escape room we have ever done, and we have done about 10 escape rooms in our group. Everything was so professional, and the inside is impressive. To start off, I have completed more than 10 escape rooms in multiple countries and the Rabbit Hole escape room seemed the most poorly planned out. Although the puzzles were interesting and appropriately challenging, there were too many in linear format to be completed in the allotted time of 45 min. They suggested asking for at least 3 clues, but an escape room shouldn't be designed where clues have to be used to progress - it should be beatable independent of clues. At one point in the game, we realized that a puzzle was not set up correctly, and therefore we spent an inordinate amount of time on it. Overall, the staff seemed to be inattentive in terms of setting up the game properly and even in checking us in (we checked in 3 times before they realized we were there which delayed our start). Amongst other issues, the aforementioned factors made it unlikely for the game to be beatable. After reading many other yelp reviews, it seems as though most people have not beaten this room. Suggestions: 1. Give us pen and paper to write things down 2. Fix devices that had faulty batteries and repair/replace locks which were old and hard to maneuver 3. Afford us the ability to solve puzzles simultaneously or extend the time to 60 minutes. Escape rooms are fun because people know they have a fair chance at beating it, whereas this game seemed that it was set up to be unbeatable. read more

As an update, we have returned and completed the quadfecta of escape rooms by doing Buried Cabin and Rabbit Hole... And this place is still the best! We LOVED these rooms too! For us, I think Buried Cabin was actually the trickier one (in the interest of full disclosure, we needed..."bonus time" [and clues] on both). One of the staff members told us that for small groups (it was just the two of us), Buried Cabin is probably harder due to the sheer quantity of stuff you have to look into. While both rooms were super fun, cool, and immersive, Rabbit Hole was definitely my favorite. There were so many delightfully whimsical pieces to it, and it was complex but still highly entertaining. These rooms (especially Rabbit Hole), much like Pirate Ship and Pinball, would be a challenge for those with mobility issues, but that (thankfully) was a nonissue for us and we both loved the aspects of physical immersion - of COURSE you have to go through a rabbit hole, for example! And to reiterate from our first two visits, the staff here is the best. They are so kind, encouraging, helpful, patient, cheerful, and FUN. Just plain delightful. Fantastic thing to do in Whistler! In fact, my two boys' (7 & 10) very favorite thing about our Ironman trip to Whistler. So good that we came back a second time to do a different room (first was pirate ship, second was the Tomb). Great staff. Fantastic rooms. Perfect price. Recently we became obsessed with escape rooms so we were very excited to find out that Whistler had one! We have now done all 4 rooms at their location (Only made it through one though LOL!). The rooms are great, both for kids and adults as they are more on the whimsical side than scary like some other escape rooms I have seen. I love how all of the props are so intricate and really make you feel like you are transported to another place. The story lines are great, the staff are very friendly and the whole experience couldn't have been better. We were visiting Whistler for a few days in the summer and looking for a good indoor activity for a group of adults because it was raining so much. We found escape whistler and gave it a go. None of our party had ever experienced an escape room before so we didn't know what to expect. We tried the buried cabin room with 5 adults. We just barely managed to finish on time and spent the next day or so talking about the experience. We enjoyed it so much we came back two days later with more people and tried both the pirate ship room and the lost temple room. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience so much that we are looking for other escape room opportunities close to where we live. Highly recommend this experience to anyone teenage and up. As a side note, some in our party were concerned about claustrophobia ahead of time, but there ended up being nothing to worry about during the experience. read more

Have been wanting to try out an escape room for so long but didn't have anything like that in the city I live in. I randomly was searching for an escape room prior to our vacation... Lo and behold! It's great since I was able to book online in advance! Escape Whistler was my very first escape room experience and so freaking amazing that I don't think I'll ever be able to find something better than this place! With a group of 6, 4 of us have never experienced an escape room. We chose to do 'the pirate ship' and was absolutely blown away by the set! Truly an immersive, stimulating, and super fun activity to do, solving puzzles and racing against the clock! We had such a fun time that my boyfriend and I went back the next day (when our friends had left the city for home) and did 'the cabin' room. The set was equally as amazing and the puzzles were just as challenging. A couple of tips: first, I don't think you'll find pictures of the rooms on here because they really want you to be awestruck when you get in to your puzzle room! You'll just have to trust me (and other yelpers) that you won't be disappointed! Unless of course you don't get along with your friends and family then I can see how you'll just end up bickering non stop. It's definitely a lot tricker with 2 vs 6 people! The staff is amazing and will help you with tips in case you do get stuck! Highly highly recommend if you're looking for some reprieve from your usual whistler activities and the price is very reasonable and comparable to other escape rooms! read more

BURRIED CABIN (intermediate level) This was BY FAR one of the BEST Escape rooms I've ever done & I've done plenty!!! The hosts r super friendly and generous with direction and just overall rad!! The booking experience over the phone was easy with pre payment and super friendly staff. The quality of the room & props blew my mind...no fake wallpaper of some random scenery or cheap decor. To date, I've played just under 50 escape rooms, and let me say, these are the absolute best rooms I've encountered. The production design is incredible--no room has ever felt so immersive. It's like they built an actual pirate ship! And an actual cabin! Beyond the beautiful sets, the puzzles are wonderful. There are so many great aha moments, and the way doors and keys are triggered makes you feel like you're part of an adventure movie. There are so many cool elaborate Rube Goldberg machines involved. And all the puzzles feel earned. Nothing is confusing for the sake of being difficult. There are also so many great moments. There was a moment in the pirate ship that filled me with sheer joy, and there were puzzles and moments I'd never encountered in any room. It's strange to write a review and leave out the details, but trust me, they're all amazing. Go play these rooms!!! read more

My wife and I love this place. We have already done the Rabbit Hole (amazing but very difficult for the two of us, we didn't make it out) and the Buried Cabin (beautiful and we actually did survive it). Now we are heading out for the Pinball Machine. Located right by the slopes in the village this place is very easy to get to. I did the pinball room and the technology/special effects/clues were out of this world amazing. Totally worth every penny. Nothing was missing or broken. Absolutely awesome! We arrived in Whistler, eager to find something fun and engaging for me and my 2 girls (aged 11 and 13) to do. I was suggested to check out Escape Whistler - and man, am I glad I did. I had heard how much fun these experiential games are, but had no idea they were that much fun! My girls and I did the Pirate Room theme - escape from jail on a pirate ship and then seek out their buried treasure... holy smokes! We had a blast...
