My daughter Makayla and I had an amazing time at Escapology Pasadena! We completed the Scooby-Doo room on Saturday and had such a great experience that we came back the very next day to do the Batman room using the awesome 50% return-visit discount. Both rooms were incredibly fun, well-designed, and full of clever puzzles that kept us engaged from beginning to end. It was the perfect activity for us to enjoy together. A huge thank you to Grace and Ben for making our visits even better. They were friendly, welcoming, and super helpful throughout both experiences. Their enthusiasm and excellent customer service really stood out and made us feel valued as guests. If you're looking for a fun family outing, date night, or activity with friends, I highly recommend Escapology Pasadena. We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the rooms!

Escapology Pasadena is located in the Paseo shopping center. It has a large underground parking garage. Be sure to bring your parking stub with you, and Escapology will validate it (I think for 90 minutes). Everything is new, as this location just opened several months ago. They really went all out. The lobby, waiting areas, and hallway to the various rooms are fully decked out with great decor. They also have an event room that looks great. Waivers can be filled out online ahead of time. This is a pretty large location, and they have a total of nine different escape rooms with a wide variety of themes. We chose to try the Mansion Murder room, which is one of their two hardest rooms. We were greeted by Grace who was very friendly. She checked us in and said it would be a few minutes while the room was being reset. About five minutes later, she came back and got us started. All of the rooms in the Mansion look great. There are only a few combo locks. Everything else is mechanical puzzles, logic puzzles, keypads, a dexterity puzzle, and a math puzzle (you get a calculator to help). Everything flowed well and worked. There was one mechanical puzzle that I had right, but I didn't enter the keys slow enough. A little nudge fixed that. The room was definitely a challenge, and we started asking for more clues as our time was running out fast. We managed to escape with only a minute left. Clues are requested by pushing a button on the wall near the entrance, and then a text clue appears on a video screen. Ben was our game master and did a great job of giving us a few slight nudges when we were obviously spinning our wheels. He was also quick to give us a clue when requested. He was happy to answer any questions about the room after we escaped. Their rooms are very reasonably priced at $50 per person. They often have discount codes listed on their website. We played on the July fourth weekend and they were running a 25% off promo, so it only cost $75 for both of us. We had a lot of fun, and will try another room here if we are in the area again.

We loved our experience here! It was my first time doing an escape room, and my daughter enjoys Scooby Doo so we thought this was the perfect one to choose! It was family friendly, but still fun for the adults and had us all putting our minds together to solve the mystery! The staff was friendly & I really like that you can get as many hints as you need too! I would definitely come here again and try another room. It was a good time!

My group had a great time at Escapology. The lobby is very comfortable as you wait for your room to be ready, and there are bathrooms and drinking water available. Grace was great at prepping us for the room and answering any questions we had before and after the room. You also get two short prep videos when you're in the room. We played two rooms: Lost City and Antidote. Both were reasonably challenging, and the set design is very high quality. Our group of four managed to escape from both rooms, with some help from the game masters. They give you "nudge" hints if they see your group struggling, but you can always request for them to omit the nudges.

My wife has successfully escaped from about 15 rooms, while I have had over 100 escape experiences throughout the years. I am sad to report that Escapology Pasadena disappointed us with their rooms. We kept returning hoping the next room would be better, completing 3 of their rooms, but it only got worse with each experience. Escape rooms are one of my favourite things in life, trying places all over the US and some internationally. I cannot recommend Escapology Pasadena to anyone, though. First, the gamemasters seem to be running multiple rooms because they either respond to you after a few minutes of pressing the assist button, or they are giving you nudges/hints on puzzles that you've already solved. We've always found great gamemasters will follow your journey diligently, working to give you the best experience, but at Escapology, they do not seem to care for your experience at all. You do feel like just another number for them. It is especially frustrating when you have the correct solution, but the tech isn't triggered, so the gamemaster gives you a "hint" in the form of the solution to the puzzle that you have recently solved. It does not help your game progress, and you lose time. Second, the rooms were very dark (except Scooby), and you're only given one flashlight. I like the immersion, but if you have hints and puzzles hidden in dark places, then provide better lighting or more handheld lights for the group. Finally, there are average puzzles, and there are poorly-designed puzzles at Escapology. The staff repeatedly and enthusiastically expressed that "their rooms are hard." Nothing stumped us in terms of complexity. Puzzles just weren't great. Fun rooms will provide clear cues and clues to solve tasks and guide you to the next or other puzzles, eliciting problem solving from the group. At Escapology Pasadena, you either see it and try possible avenues of solutions or you don't and are left to wonder/wander. Too often you may feel, "Oh, that's the puzzle here? Why would I ever make that connection?" The positives here are that there is great decor in the waiting room and the halls, and the escape rooms themselves are nicely fabricated. Additionally, this location is a new opening, so it's still clean. If you do decide to do a second room, they offer 50% discount for a same day booking. We shall not be returning, though. It does not feel that they care for your experience and just want people to book rooms. Scooby was the best of the three rooms we did, but we were disappointed to find the puzzles weren't as fun as anticipated for such a great and colourful theme.

I booked the reservation originally for 3 people knowing I can add more on the day of the event. Whatever price your event was booked for, the additional players will be charged the same price because it will be linked to the reservation. I just had them charge my card on file and everyone else just paid me separately. Came here again to try 7 Deadly Sins with some friends. The host was great and he mentioned to me that they read my previous review (thanked me and said I was the only one to notice it) and have corrected the starting videos for the rooms in regards to the hints and what not (you're welcome, hehe). This room does have flashing lights and fog machine! So please be careful if you have any sensitivity to these conditions. So far, the two rooms I've experienced (Scooby and 7 deadly sins), came with a notepad and a flashlight. The rooms are a bit dark making some of the things hard to see/find. 7 deadly sins came with a blacklight. They give you a 5 minute grace period if needed before your group enters the room. Also, late comers are okay! They can join in the room at any time because the door doesn't lock behind them. That doesn't mean that you can easily win, haha. What I also noticed that the hints given feel somewhat personal. Meaning the GM is "typing" the hints. We were somewhat stuck on a puzzle and the prompt said something "you're so close!..." I felt the hints took longer than 10 seconds to produce, lol... We broke the curse, and survived the 7 deadly sins! Most of us felt colorblind afterwards, without giving away too much of the room, but we all had fun! They got some props in for their photo backdrop! I will be back! Also, each room you experience, you get a bracelet to commemorate the room!

We did our first escape room, Lost City, and it was great! The facility is really stylish, and snazzy. The Lost City escape room was a lot of fun. It challenged us but was really rewarding and we escaped! Kaz was a great host. It's in the paseo, on the ground floor beneath the theater. They validate parking.

LOVED LOVED my experience at Escapology in Pasadena! My game masters were Lauren and Ben and they did a phenomenal job giving enough to keep the game moving but not giving clues away! I loved it so much we had to play twice! Will be coming back again!

    Adriana K.

Did Pirate's Curse as a party of 2 and had a great time! We didn't escape and were cursed forever, but it was super fun and the riddles were challenging and piratey. Great date night! They just opened last Friday so this is a great addition to Paseo. They have 9 rooms available and the waiting areas are themed. We will Definitely return to try other rooms and maybe even the same one to try to finish it lol. Cost is $49.99 pp but you are on a private room so that's cool. Arrrrr!!! Grace and Josh were awesome.

What an amazing Escape Room! Our group of 6 had a blast! We will be coming back soon.

My daughter and I did the scooby and it was so fun, we are really bad at it but they helped us win with about a minute to go!

Before coming in, we called to confirm how our promotion worked. Unfortunately, the manager in universal city walk escapology who answered the phone was rude, impatient, and spoke to us with an attitude while we were simply asking questions to understand the promotion. When we asked if we could speak with a manager, she responded, "You're already talking to the manager," in a very dismissive tone before abruptly hanging up on us. Despite that unpleasant phone call, we decided to give the location a chance. When we arrived, another employee kindly reviewed our email, explained our promotion clearly, and helped resolve the confusion. He was professional, patient, and provided excellent customer service. We appreciated his help. Then when we're about to pay ge transfered us to other lady which I believe was the supervisor. As we paying she's charging us $99 when the other guys told us that we only need to pay $50 for kids si de we still have the promotion which is the 25% off. So I just ask her nicely not in a disrespectful way to call the other guy who help us first so he could explain it to her. So we paid, we're booked in. Everything seems fine even though she's rushing us before the game and after and I feel that's kind of odd. After we finished our escape room, we were taking family photos. My boyfriend politely asked the manager if she could take one picture of all of us. Instead of simply helping or declining, she unexpectedly told us we had to leave because we had been "disrespectful" to her and her supervisor over the phone. This completely caught us off guard. We had never raised our voices or disrespected anyone. We were only asking questions about a promotion we had already purchased. If we had truly been disrespectful, why were we allowed to complete our purchase, play the game for over an hour, and only then be confronted after everything was finished? I even asked to check the cctvs if we're being disrespectful and she said, I didn't have to check the cctv. which I found very unfair and very unprofessional. The most disappointing part was that this happened in front of our children. I asked her not to continue the confrontation because my kids were there, but she said she didn't care. As a parent, that was heartbreaking and completely unprofessional. I understand that misunderstandings happen, but managers are expected to de-escalate situations professionally--not create them. This experience left my family embarrassed and disappointed. The escape room itself was fun, and the employee who initially helped us was wonderful. Unfortunately, the manager's behavior overshadowed what should have been a great family outing. it was traumatizing to my kids especially that never happened to us. I sincerely hope management addresses this issue so other families don't have a similar experience.

Very cool escape room! We finished with 1 second to spare. Super fun, would definitely recommend!read more

I figured I'd update my review from 2022 because as of now, this location has completely rotated…read moreout its predecessor games (Exodus). Toria, our host was friendly and ensured we had a great experience, going above and beyond what I typically see from most gamemasters. The new games are Vampire vs. Witch and Black Hole. I would strongly recommend Vampire vs. Witch with a smaller group and have the roles swapped out afterwards so you can best experience both puzzle tracks. I would say that, for a 15 minute game, Vampire vs. Witch was pretty cool, definitely worth the small price and would work well if you didn't have too much time or wanted a warmup for either Fatal Invitation or Black Hole. For Chinese speakers, there's also the option to switch the language in the room, but when I played the default was English. There's also an integrated hint system which allows you to communicate through a tablet, which doubles as your timer for the room. Despite having some minor technical issues on a follow-up visit with a different gamemaster, we did have a backup walkie so make sure to keep that one close by as well. Overall, I thought that these were fun rooms that, without giving away too much, challenged the norms of typical escape game style puzzles in a way that was refreshing and cleverly entertaining.
