Local artists decided to paint the tenement buildings, thus creating Caminito. You will see street vendors, tango dancers, artists, souvenir shops and restaurants. Some reviews mention that this area is dangerous but I did not feel that at all. It was as safe as anywhere else in the city (at least in the daytime). Even though I did not buy anything here, it was still fun to to walk down an entire street that had basically been turned into an art exhibit.

The Anchorena family had built a private church that they could view from their palace but had planned on building a newer mansion closer to the church. Ultimately, the mother Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, who strongly opposed the relationship, managed to end the engagement. Corina Kavanagh, heart-broken, hurt and humiliated, decided to take out her revenge by building a reinforced concrete high-rise that would completely obstruct the view from the Anchorena's palace. Corina had to sell three estancias in Venado Tuerto to finance her project and buy the land next to the church when Mercedes was on vacation. In 14 months, the Kavanagh Building became the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world and for many years remained the tallest building in Latin America. The 33-floor building was the first in Argentina to boast central air conditioning. The 12 elevators, five staircases, a ground floor shopping center and underground parking made it a very desirable property. Other unique features included a swimming pool, integrated drycleaner service, cold storage for furs and carpets, and a central telephone system. So interesting to be able to visit this landmark architectural feat again and be reminded of this urban legend.

The inside is impressive looking, but the architecture did not stand out to me like others that I have seen like Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Since it's located in the main square anyway, it doesn't hurt to at least go inside and take a quick look. More recently, this church is known as the place where Pope Francis used to hold mass.

It is located the neighborhood of Puerto Madero, crosses over the Rio Dique and is not too far from Casa Rosada. This rotating footbridge was the first work from Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava in Latin America. The key attribute of the bridge is that it represents a couple dancing tango, with the white mast symbolizing the man and the curve of the bridge, the woman.

It was mostly empty and there was no activity going on even in the middle of the day. No street performers or musicians or vendors. That might be the way the city prefers to keep it, but it was a stark contrast to main plazas in other big cities. There is not even a proper park here - just a few random benches. In the end, it is what surrounds the plaza that makes it prominent. Casa Rosada sits here. That's the building that houses the Argentine national government. You'll also find the oldest cathedral and several museums surrounding the plaza.

If you book the evening tours, you will miss the sunset. If it's your first time in Argentina, you may find it somewhat challenging to get tickets. We go to Argentina every year so this has been on my list of to-dos for a while now. You can purchase your ticket online. Then you will have to email their office (which is on that confirmation email of your tickets) and ask them to send you a PayPal link to pay for your tickets - this sis specifically for foreigners with non-Argentinian bank. We did that and it was pretty easy. If you're confused, you can also contact them via their WhatsApp and they can help with your tickets. The tour - the tour was excellent. I learned a lot. This is not a palace but more so a tall building which is also a work office building during the day. The elevators are super cool and are very old and reminds me of Harry Potter. The views from the top were fantastic especially during sunset. I got some really cool photos. They also have a photographer on the top you can hire if you want better photos. I think it was like $10 per photo. The lighthouse was also super cool and old. You can see the BA skyline from there and had excellent views. Our guide spoke perfect English and he actually knew so much about art and architecture!

It was named a historical landmark because the architect designed the building based on Dante's Divine Comedy. Therefore, the building's design is divided into three sections that each represent the areas Dante goes through (Hell, Purgatory and Haven). However, to go beyond the ground floor, you can to pay for a guided tour. The best part about the tour is that you get a rooftop view of the city. But like I said: Unless you are really into architecture, I recommend skipping this. Buenos Aires has much more to offer.

Besides admiring the nice architecture from outside, you can also take free guided tours of this building that are offered in both English and Spanish. The guided tour is on the first floor only but will take you through the rooms of both chambers, and as well as several other rooms. The tour is only 60 minutes long and takes place several times a day, on weekdays only.
