The 5 star review is for ESQUIRE!! BUT, THIS IS A "YELP" REVIEW AND THEY GET A 1 STAR I recently was informed that my business rating was low so I decided to check it out. I noticed I only had 3 reviews: one from 2014, one from 2016 and one from 2019. The 2019 review was totally inaccurate, stating a man provided service. Number 1, I have been the only barber in the shop for 3 years and 2, im a woman! I contacted this person AND yelp with no resolve! The other bad review was from someone who stopped by for the first, and last, time. yelp states that they apply objective standards to every business so no one gets preferential treatment, BUT that's not really true. The recommended reviews come from ACTIVE USERS OF THE YELP COMMUNITY (AKA the most opinionated) and are referred to, by yelp, as helpful, trusted and reliable. Yelp does provide, at the bottom of the page, "reviews not recommended by yelp" which makes it sound like negative reviews in my opinion. Here I found SIXTEEN reviews that were all positive. yelp stated that not all reviews are created equal...how true!! The "not recommended" reviews were from helpful, trusted and reliable people that have chose to make Esquire their barbershop for YEARS, and not for a lack of choices! So to use one review that was totally false and one review from a ONE TIME unsatisfied customer is very misleading, irresponsible, inaccurate and damaging. Just because a person doesn't post a lot of reviews on yelp doesn't mean their opinions don't count...Yelp is suppose to be impartial and relay accurate info to people ... by only using people that "support" yelp and have to give their "opinions" on everything isn't passing on the whole truth! I have been coming to Esquire for years and have always been very pleased with my haircuts. It is a blast from the past in a modern world and takes me back to the hometown barbershops of my younger days. Donna is always great and takes the time to make sure you are happy with the cut. Yes, I am older but really enjoy the atmosphere. I recommend this shop to anyone who grew up enjoying watching the pole turn, and even if you didn't, take the time to slow down and see what you might have missed. I was badly in need and sure glad when she opened back up after the COVID lockdown. read more

Well I've been going here for seven or eight years and always got the cut I asked for. I may not have liked it but that wasn't the barber's fault. Over the years my styles changed and now I've settled in. My hair looks perfect when I leave. Sometimes it takes a little time for a barber and a customer to understand each other. It sounds to me like the previous negative post was just unhappy about their style choice. This is a great shop with fair prices. read more

Excellent place to get a cut. I have been coming here for years, never had any issues. Donna is always friendly and welcoming. Reading the other reviews makes me laugh. Why would you wait 8 years to leave a bad review for a haircut that someone else got? Especially since that barber retired and hasn't worked there in years. read more

Nice, old-fashioned, Barber Shop. Donna is friendly and remembers how I like my hair cut from visit to visit. I like having the same person cut my hair each time and not having to remember the guide numbers for the top and sides. Price is extremely reasonable.
