I have never been spoken to how Lindsay spoke to me yesterday, it was disgusting. I purchased two vouchers, one for nails one for hair cut with highlights. I rang to book my appointments yesterday only to be greeting with a barrage of abuse regarding Groupon. she also said I could not use two vouchers. I said I just thought I'd have a pamper day for myself having my hair and nails done, and that why I'd purchased both. Anyway she was booked up for the next month! I'm going on a cruise shortly and wanted it done before I go. After reading the reviews I'm definitely NOT going to book. I would rather write the money off that I paid than go to that salon read more

I have been going to the same hair dresser for over 10 years, but thought I'd try somewhere new after seeing an offer on groupon. My hair was done by the owner who was really friendly and chatty. I wanted my hair nice and blonde as my roots had grown by quite a lot. A full head of colour was suggested and even though I had never had that before I decided to go with the advice as it sounded nice! When the colour had "worked it magic" and was rinsed off, I looked in the mirror and it was yellow! I had very blonde hair but the roots were very yellow. The owner said it would look better when it was dry and also suggested that I buy some violet shampoo which will help tone the colour down. She also said if I wasn't happy that I could go back and she would put some highlights in. I sat there as she dried my hair, paid and left! When I arrived home I was met by open mouthed children, husband and mum! I haven't cried I promise! I bought some violet shampoo and conditioner as she suggested which cost about £40 and now I'm sat on my bed wrapped in a towel with yellow and purple hair! I've just called my original hair dressers who have asked me to go in to their salon today so they can assess it. They have assured me that it will all be fixable and not to worry. I did also phone the owner to tell her about my disastrous hair! She was defensive (which I get) and did offer to put some more colour in it to try and tone it down. But I have decided to just return to my old and trusted hair dressers! To make matters even worse, I have several chemical burns on my scalp caused by the colour Esquire used so I'm feeling quite sore as well as looking like a avid LA Lakers fan! So my great offer £31 colour cut and finish has so far cost my £40 in shampoo and conditioner and is now going to cost me a further £90+ to have it put right! You live and learn!! read more

I was a regular client here for months, going every 4-6 weeks to get my roots touched up and a toner put on. The price for me was the most attractive element, as with regular trips to the hairdressers, I had to ensure it was maintainable for my budget. The first time I went, I had a consultation with Lindsay for 15 minutes or so, discussing how I like warm, sunny blonde hair (like Holly Willoughby's colour) and that I absolutely did not want ashy toned hair - apologies for anyone who does, but it just does not suit my skin tone at all. So, the first time I had my hair done by Lindsay, I was thrilled! The colour was great, finish perfect and I left very happy. But gradually over the course of a few months, the service time got shorter and the colour got further and further away from what I wanted initially, and became ashier each time I went. I also kept getting the trainee hairdresser, but still paying the same price - anywhere else you go they charge less for a trainee? The last time I went (for the very same thing every time) I had asked for the initial colour I wanted, and I kid you not my hair was GREEN. I had to return a few days later to get it fixed and back to any sort of normal colour. It was so ashy, in some parts it was green and in some parts it was grey - it wasn't even one colour all over! To the previous reviewer who also comes from Harrogate, it's a personal issue with the town that they have - they spent more time slagging off Harrogate (where I also live, yeah no social skills in sight) than they did making sure I got the right colour. When I returned a few days later to have it fixed, I was by no means happy but at least I left with a normal colour of hair again. The worst thing was that the owner Lindsay had accused me of asking for it ashy, even though every single time I visited I asked for anything but ashy. She then even tried to charge me for the toner they used to correct my hair - I came from Harrogate to get my hair fixed because they ruined it, do they really think I was going to pay more for a toner? Well that was the very last time I went there after months of wasting my time. The hair at the front of my hair is burnt with the bleach they use, and my hairdresser now is surprised they are allowed to use whatever they use because it has damaged my hair so much, even now it's back to its natural colour. Every time I went I had to clarify what I wanted, even after visiting for months on end. I always had to clarify "please no ashy tones" as if it was the first time visiting. There is absolutely no customer care at all and they don't even have the decency not to slate the place you live when they ask where you come from. My advise to them - change industries; but don't consider getting a job in Starbucks because the drinks are even sub-standard. My advise to anyone considering them? Go to Gifted Angel around the corner - amazing hairdressers. read more

I agree with Helen M. I thought business owners used Groupon to spread the word about the (presumably high) quality of their service; the owner of Esquire et Cie is forgetting this principle. I had a Groupon for Shellac mani and pedi, and how surprised I was when I realised that the manicurist interpreted manicure and pedicure as a quick, careless file, no prep/removing of cuticles, and believe or not she left my nails at different length! The application of polish was also careless and I ended up with splashes and blotches at the root of the nail. Hello?? Not going back. I would avoid this place even if they issue other 'great offers' on discount sites. Waste of money and time. read more

If, like me you are considering going to Esquire et Cie for the first time, I would recommend you request Lindsey, the owner to cut your hair. Although her salon has a friendly and warm atmosphere, (along with a friendly pet dog to stroke!), unfortunately I will not be returning, due to the unprofessional manner of her trainee, who I did not think had the right demeanour to be working with the public. I found her to be unnecessarily impatient and abrupt throughout my treatment. She began by asking where I had come from, (to which I replied Harrogate - a twenty minute drive), and then subsequently did not converse with me at all for the duration of my two and a half hour hair treatment. I spent the time listening to Lindsey having a really nice conversation with her client and wishing that I had been able to book an appointment with her. Shame, because Lindsey gave me such a friendly welcome, offering me a tea and leaving me with an entire box of Ferrero Roche, telling me to help myself! read more

Loved the Brasilliana keratin hair treatment at this salon. Had hair done for a wedding and really pleased with the result. Huge improvement and I highly recommend this salon. Very pleasant staff and a lovely welcome. Also had nails done on another occasion and equally pleased with the result. read more

I have keratin treatment applied to my hair a couple of times a year. When I saw a Groupon deal at Esquire et Cie for Keratin treatment I thought 'Yay! A chance to save a few £'s!' The salon is nicely presented and I was offered a drink on arrival. The beautician started my treatment (odd for starters) but whilst I was having my hair washed, the owner began 'having a go' at the young woman washing my hair over how much she'd charged an earlier client. It was bizarre and very 'passive aggressive', but more importantly, totally unprofessional! The salon owner then took over applying the treatment. She was friendly and chatty with me, but when a regular client and friend popped in she stopped what she was doing for a good long chat! She also started complaining about 'teenagers' and not being able to get good staff, with both of her young staff members in earshot. Not really surprised she can't get good staff! The treatment was blow dried and then very quickly treated with straighteners. When I left the salon my hair was dull and felt course & sticky. If the treatment has been correctly applied and then sealed with high heat repeatedly, it should be shiny, soft and silky. The treatment used was La Brasiliana. The company's website says the treatment should take a min of 90 mins. I was out of the salon in under 60 minutes and a significant chunk of that was taken up by my stylist chatting to another client! Can't see my treatment lasting 3 weeks let alone 3 months and there's no way I'll be able to leave it unwashed for 24 hours as I look like Wurzel Gummage! Will not be back and wouldn't recommend it to friends. read more

I used a Groupon offer for a full head of highlights and cut and finish. I was very pleased with the results. The colour looks very natural and the cut was good. read more

I had my colour done here through a Groupon and she appeared very knowledgeable and nice. She suggested my hair was too dark and would look better with some lighter highlights. I decided I would go for this and agreed £40 for this doing the next week. Today I am £40 lighter but my hair isn't despite spending 2 hours there yesterday. I can't tell any difference and neither can anyone else. I feel cheated! Had she said that it hadn't quite gone to plan and reduced the price accordingly I would not be writing this review as everyone makes mistakes. I am now not a happy bunny. read more

I went to Esquire Et Cie after seeing the voucher on Groupon - after only recently moving to Leeds I didn't have a regular hairdresser and the ones in Leeds city centre were ridiculously pricey! Esquire Et Cie was only half an hour away on the bus and half the price for the same quality of hairdressing. Hayley was very professional and attentive - offering and making me a drink and not only listening to what I wanted but also recommending new styles that would suit me - which was really good to hear as my hair has been the same for a long time and normally when I ask I don't really get any advice! I was too much of a wuss to do what Hayley suggested but maybe next time! Usually when I go to the hairdressers I see it as more of a chore that takes ages and costs me loads of money - at Esquire Et Cie it wasn't like that at all - Hayley was really easy to chat to and when she had finished I didn't even realise I'd been in there that long, and as I said before the prices were more than reasonable! Also, the location is lovely - after my cut I had a nice walk around Otley. Before leaving I booked my next appointment - I've definitely found my new regular hairdressers! Thank you Hayley :) read more

I had a Groupon voucher for both hand and toenoails in shellac in July. What a mess! No preparation, a 'file', which didn't even touch my nails and thick, gloopy polish, full of bubbles. Was told the bubbles were because I 'did not place my thumbs at the right angle in the drier'. No offer to re-do. Only one coat on toes -had to ask for second coat and even then only put on big toes. Had to remind to add topcoat for toes. Told several times that this was 'only an offer' implying she would have spent more time/care if I'd paid the full price! Two nails fell off on holiday three days later and it has taken three months for my nails to recover. I used the voucher as a trial run for my daughter's wedding in August, with a view to using a second voucher for then. My nails were ruined and I used a friend's recommended beautician for the wedding. I really don't think the salon owner is either trained or competent to perform a better manicure and is using social discount sites to boost flagging trade. read more

I fully recommend this Salon, you will NOT be disappointed. Both Lyndsey (owner) & Hayley are both very experienced & professional, excellent at what they do & most important they listen to what their customers & new customers say & want, ie. if you only want an inch cut off, than that's what they will only do (in other words they will not cut loads off, they will do as you require). They have lots of ranges to choose from, such as colours, beauty products (hair, etc..). Also, they offer lots of beauty treatments/pamper treatments - nails, feet, massage, eyebrow tint/shape, eyelash tint, facials, waxing, etc, etc... You will always get a warm welcome & enjoy spending time in the very stylist lovely contemporary Salon. All hair & beauty/pamper treatments are all very affordable. Treat yourself, you will not be disappionted & that's a promise. Linz Rossetti read more

I came to this salon on a groupon offer and have continued to come here for the last year. The service is friendly and informal and the service is affordable, professional and honest. I have been very happy after every visit. I have read some reviews about this salon and the owner, Lindsey, and they are very unfair. This is a small town salon not a big inner city chain and some customers need to realise that the service you receive reflects that. People should be supporting small town businesses and if you don't like the service you receive, the feedback is more effective if you told her rather than posting unfair comments. read more

Outstanding. I have searched for a Hairdresser that I would be comfortable with for ages. No more. Lindsey the owner is extremely talented and has made me feel like a million dollars. How many times do you go home after having your hair done and no one notices ? I came home and my 12 year old son said WOW you look great mum, you cant get a better compliment than that. My Husband did a double take and was more than happy!!! So thank you Lindsey and here is to many more enjoyable hairstyling sessions and fantastic chat. Kay Hargraves Pool-in-Wharfedale read more
