Once inside the shop, you can peruse the lovely embossed chocolates displayed like jewels in cases. Also on the shelves are bags and boxes readily available for quick purchase. When I entered the shop, the staff kindly offered my a sample of two varieties of gianduja chocolate that they were famous for. I decided to enjoy something cold to drink in their internal cafe. This delightful room is A-i-r C-O-N-D-I-T-I-O-N-E-D !!! On the very very hot day I was window-shopping I had to have a cold chocolate drink at the Gobino cafe. The service isn't that good, as the staff remain in the front boutique area. So I have to go and ask about ordering a drink. There is a lovely booklet menu to choose your options. I got a chocolate shake and was presented with the drink as well as a small ceramic tray holding two pieces of chocolate/gianduja candy. How lovely. I slowly drank my shake and perused the chocolate and food literature that was on the shelves. This is a great place to pass the time of day. You avoid the heat here and also have many chocolate treats to choose from. Delicioso!

When we arrived in Turin the woman that owns the place where we stayed said "no matter what you do…read moredon't miss the mercato". A woman after my own heart :-))) And she was right. We walked to this place early in the morning as it opens at 7am. Unfortunately the indoor markets are not open on a Monday but that was not a big deal. The outdoor markets are the biggest of its kind in Europe and I was in heaven. So many fruits and vegetables I had never seen before and so cheap :-) a kilo of grapes and 10 plums cost €1.80 and it tasted amazing. There was fresh herbs, pallet loads of tomatoes and tons of fresh fruit every which way you looked. There are sections with clothes, shoes, household items and all sorts of nick nacks. You could spend a lot of money here buying things you will never use. The indoor markets have more stalls for meat, fish and other food items. The question you end up asking is "is there anything you cannot find here ?" And the likelihood is "No" :-)) I could spend days here talking to the shop owners and discovering how to use these newly found ingredients and learning some interesting things. Must come back again and spend a day exploring this place. Open from 7am to 1:30 most days except Sundays. A must visit in town :-))
