Esther was great to work with. She took over our taxes after I could no longer stomach the poor service and excessive cost of the firm I used for the three years previous. Our taxes became more complicated, the prep cost went down, and the service went up. Whodathunk?! We were able to meet after normal business hours and do most of the prep work electronically, which made it much easier. She is thorough and very energetic. Today is March. 11 and for the last month and a half, my husband and I have been diligently collecting all of our paperwork in preparation for our appointment with Esther Sawyer today at 6pm. While searching for a local tax preparer, I was immediately drawn to her after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp and recommended that my husband call her to make an appointment to prepare our taxes this year. We scheduled an appointment with her for today, a Saturday. This afternoon while searching for her address on her website, I noticed that her website says no appointments on Saturday. Seeing this propelled me to call her at 4:30pm to confirm our 6:00pm appointment. There was no answer and so I left a long,very detailed message with my name, appointment time and call back number and asked her to please call me back. There was no call back. We ended up arriving to her house for our 6pm appointment and there was no one there. We waited a few minutes and realized that we had probably been stood up but we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. My husband received a phone call from her about 10 minutes after our appointment time. She explained that she wouldn't be able to make it because she was at church with her family and stated that she would have expected us to confirm the appointment because she doesn't usually take Saturday appointments. When my husband confronted her with the fact that I had indeed called at 4:30, she stated that she expected the call from my husband. All in all, I am thoroughly unimpressed with Esther Sawyer. I can understand things happening and people forgetting but when you are a professional, you need to act like it. Don't schedule appointments with clients if you are not going to follow thru with them. I would have had more understanding if she would have owned up to forgetting about our appointment but instead she chose to deflect the blame off of herself. I do not recommend her services and her lack of professionalism makes me extremely grateful to not give her access to our sensitive data. Esther, if you read this I hope you've learned a little something about being a professional. You completely wasted our time and now we have about a month to search for a tax preparer. You need to take responsibility for your actions whether they are intentional or not. Be honest and be straight forward. Clients will appreciate that. read more

Esther saved my husband and I some headaches and worries this tax season. My husband searched online for tax services and we chose her based on reviews. We couldn't have made a better choice! When she did our taxes she asked questions to make sure we didn't leave any stone unturned on what we could claim. All that she did ended in our favor and we ended saving waaay more than expected. I really think we would have cut ourselves short if we had done the taxes ourselves or had some corporate tax services do them (we've had bad experiences with H & R Block in the past). I yelp'd my way to finding Esther and by no means was I disappointed. Accountants quickly become expensive justifying their expense as "how I save you money". Esther's price is reasonable and she also gives discounts to those who serve our country(military). I am not military but that simple fact is only a partial layer about how hard she works for her clients. For years I have been told that I make too much money and that is just how it is, always owing, and never really understanding why. She was able to pinpoint and educate me on what I need to do in order to save the money I earn. She is extremely accessible and incredibly transparent. She operates a very legitimate and secure business and is very by the book. Esther and Chris Sawyer are amazing! My Dad originally found them through a review by our local volunteer firehouse. Esther assisted them in getting years worth of taxes filed and they thanked her on their own FB page and website. Esther not only took care of that current years taxes but the back taxes as well. My parents have been loyal customers since and will continue to use them indefinitely.
