I researched and met with the other primary competitor in the area (I suggest you do too - while I'm sure they will get the job done the best service, knowledge, pricing and staff can all be found at 2 Rivers). My needs were fairly large - a 35acre farming estate in northern MN with a mountain of stuff in the middle of nowhere: tractors, farming equipment, tools, guns, household etc (a family member passed away). The entire auction process for this estate took almost a full month (clean, sort, lot, mechanic work on over a dozen vehicles, set up, viewing days, online auction, pick up days). The owner Bart, and his staff were nothing short of amazing. For me it was an overwhelming maze to navigate - I was emotional:) had no clue what to do, where to start, or what the financial burden would be. 2 Rivers took care of everything, had simple/clear pricing, great communication (verbal estimate range for labor/lot cost and profit were accurate), friendly and very hard working staff-ALL of them are WONDERFUL! They made this process not only manageable but fun, they were respectful of my loved one who passed and of my needs as not only a customer but as a person, they treated me like a friend. When he realized we wanted to enter in an area that was damaged by last year's fire, he called and worked with us to find another entry point. Our overnight stay (good mattresses, clean sleeping bags and fans in our rooms) was very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and bright, each with two showers and ample towels. The stay included a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. The rented canoes were in excellent condition. We have been camping and canoeing in the Boundary Waters for over 20 years. By far, this was the best outfitter we have worked with, with top notch rooms, bathrooms breakfasts, and equipment. I highly recommend them for outfitting and lodging when accessing Boundary Waters entry points out of Ely.

It appears that they are kids or teenagers at most in age, but they are running the whole store operation - scooping ice cream/manning the cash register, which is very cool to see. This ice cream shop has tons of options to choose from. I ended up going with a small scoop of Burntside "Rich & Famous" (oreo/reese inside), which they said was popular here. I was glad to see that their scoops were very generous. They serve a single scoop in a whole bowl and it's very worth the price I paid for. So, it's a 5 star in my books.

(They need more room!) Plenty of vintage and modern books to be had in varying degrees of quality (used). There's a beautiful kitty roaming this store and a few comfy armchairs scattered about. They are also a small smoke shop and sell pipes, tobacco, vintage tarot and gemstones.
