They deal in true statement pieces that will make the décor of any room pop. These guys have simply the best selection of mother of pearl inlaid pieces you'll find anywhere in Adelaide. From chairs to dressers to bedside cabinets, you'll find it here. If you're in the market for an oversized statue of a pink flamingo, trust me you would have more chance of the Jack Horner people sourcing one for you than anyone else. I simply don't know where they get their amazing pieces from and that's why they're such a fave with film and TV industry professionals who are in search of that perfect piece when they're decorating a set. If you need a piece of wall art, a light fitting, a sofa, a chest of drawers, a bed, a Buddha, a mannequin or a whatever ... go see them. If you're looking for a Venetian Mirror, they specialise in reproductions that achieve the right look without the big price tag. I had a piece of furniture restored by them years ago and they did such a brilliant job that I haven't had to do a thing to it since. It still sits proudly near my dining table and all I ever do is change the decorative piece sitting on top. There is something incredibly quirky about the design talents of the Jack Horner people. If you're a bit of a bower bird and you like to collect things, stop by for a visit.

I know nothing about interior decorating. As I waltz around Jack Horner, the logician in me as saying, 'You wouldn't furnish your entire house with this stock at this store. You'd come here for particular items.' But then the Mario in me decided the logician was wrong and stupid and tacky. I have made a personal pledge to myself. If I should get a house in Adelaide (having failed all my endeavours overseas), I will stock my ENTIRE house with things that can be found at Jack Horner. Including (nay, especially) the zebra patterned items. This place is so queer and quirky it is a joy to inhabit. Knowing full-well I could afford nothing, and would have nowhere to put it if I could, I still had a grand time browsing. It was a delight to see what item in the store would surprise me next.

I may be a touch on the exageration juice for this one, there are certainly some pricey items in the store, but Geeeeee Whiz do they look the balls! Amoung the top end furnature, that would make any room smell of 'rich mahogany', you will also find some very quirky pieces that really stand out. I noticed a carved wooden lamp with a spiral stair running the length of its shaft and an occasional table that would not look out of place in any Bond movie. Probably not the place to head if you are on a budget, but if you a bank account with more numbers to the left of the decimal point than the right (6 or 7 should do), then this is your IKEA!

Personal favourites of mine would definitely be the chess boards, and I don't even play or like chess! But they were STUNNING! There is also possibly the most beautiful bed I have ever seen for around $8'000 if you're into that stuff. You can tell that everything is high quality walking around this store, but you really wouldn't want to break anything unless you have a couple grand spare in your back pocket! There are also some really interesting pieces of furniture here that you don't normally see in furniture stores such as sheet music holders. It's really expensive in here, but really gorgeous.

This place is another of my local haunts and is usually my first port of call when I'm looking for a birthday present for friends or family. The way the store is set out is with kitchen / dining room items in the back and living room pieces in the front. They stock larger items of furniture like buffets and bookshelves and of course the smaller pieces like occasional pieces and footstools. Sometimes things can be a little pricey but there are also times you'll find a great bargain. The black and white ottoman in the centre of my living room is just one of those pieces. It goes without saying there's a great selection of decorating pieces right through the store. Even if you're not buying, I find this place full of ideas - a little like a home decorating magazine come to life. I always manage to find a bargain there when it comes to things like their Maxwell and Williams dinner set range. A good bargain always makes me smile. I love buying something that looks exy but I've actually paid very little for House and Garden staff are always helpful. If you're looking for something and they don't have it, they will always call one of their other stores and attempt to get it in for you. When they're not run off their feet with a line of customers at the counter or gift wrapping someone's purchase, they're always up for a chat and a laugh.

I often like to just browse through there to see what they have on offer. If you wander through to the back of store - and trust me its not a small space to wander through - you'll find a range of beautiful fashion pieces as well. All in all One Rundle Trading is an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I love the way the shop is set out with a Ladies Room and a Gents Room at the front of the store - and by that I don't mean toilets but rather rooms for of things specifically for men and women. There's also a children's room and a garden or outdoor room as well. They offer a Bridal Registry and an Interior Decorating service and best of all a free - yes free - picture hanging service. The space itself is massive and once served as a 1920's Melba Picture Theatre. Located in Stuart Road at Dulwich, I recommend wandering through on a Sunday afternoon to take in the sights. When you're in there, don't forget to look at the beautiful old ceilings - they're as gorgeous as many of the trinkets and pieces you will just fall in love with.

But a pair of shorts for five hundred? Sure, pocket change for you brokers and people with old money. What beautiful homewares they have, gorgeous lamps and paintings and sculptures, the only consistency being no two things are alike and yes, you pretty much could close your eyes and point and find a gorgeous antique chest or a marble sculpture of a blackbird and want to take it home so bad you nearly weep. I will never look at Ikea the same again. This store is glorious and completely unattainable for the likes of me.

This antique store is run by Suzanne and Clayton Tregilgas. Both Sue and Clayton are avid collectors so they know what they're looking for when it comes to sourcing old stuff. I saw a vintage trike, a rather funky vintage ladies hat, old glass jugs, chairs, plates, glasses, toys, lamps, picture frames, crockery ... phew the list goes on and on. My one word of advice is when you visit, is to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to have a good look through the entire store because it does take time to look at everything properly. Sue Claytables Antiques also specialise in collecting old Lego with a range of classic Lego for sale. Any lego sourced by Sue is usually built first before its put on display. Go and have a look through the shop if you're in the market for old bits and bobs.
