Staff was really nice and told us to sit anywhere and just go to the bar and order. I asked for the strongest belgium beer and my friend got a lighter one. Made some small talk. They also gave us free doritos on the side to go with our beer after we paid and sat down. The vibe in the bar is pretty chill. There were more people starting around 9 and the place became really lively.

For selection of beers, this place is hard to fault. They service almost every Belgium beer…read moreimaginable, then a few more. Do you want a beer served in a faux coconut? They have it. Kriek from breweries you've never heard of? They have it. What they don't have is waiter service. So when your beverage is empty you've gotta trek back to the bar to order another. Waiter service is so common place in other bars, why not here? Great place to have a beer after you've walked here for the frites opposite, or after a meal at the divine Eccetera close by.

It does come with bonafides, however, the owner having worked previously at Moeder Lambic. There are 18 constantly rotating draft beers, including at least one cask ale. These are pretty esoteric offering and it's unlikely you'll find many (if any) elsewhere. Not exclusively Belgian, recent offerings have included beers from micro-breweries in England, France, Sweden, and the U.S, (Jester King), plus la Vermontoise, a collaboration between Belgium's Brasserie de Blaugies and Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont.. They also have a fare selection of bottled beer and offer snacks such as cheese. The owner has two turntables inside and spins tunes when the mood strikes him. The sidewalk tables out front make for good alfresco drinking and eating..

I'd done a good amount of looking at various traditional Bruxellois restaurants, and it seemed many had hit or miss reviews. Albeit, Au Stekerlapatte did have some of mixed reviews as well, it seemed to be the most consistently praised. I was excited because we were finally going to have the opportunity to try some truly Belgian things that we'd never had before... And quite frankly, had been weary of. The first of which was the tomato filled with little gray shrimp. Surrounded by lettuce and dollops of mayonnaise, it's especially a shrimp salad. Was it good? I don't know. I would say it wasn't bad though. To go along with our beers, of which they have a sizable beer selection, we also got the duo of croquettes. One is a shrimp croquet, which seems to be a bit skimpy on shrimp, and the other an Orval chese. Typically I'm a cheese croquettes kind of a guy, but I actually found the shrimp one to be a bit better. For our main, the wife ordered the stoemp, two sausages with a carrot mashed potatoes slop, and I got the rabbit in kreik sauce. I really enjoyed the rabbit, and would get it again, but it was a pretty small portion of rabbit. The sausage were good, but maybe not for 17€+. The carrot slop was just that--carrot slop. We decided to get dessert as well, having read their tarte tatin was pretty good. Wouldn't recommend it personally. Sure the calvados, and lightning it on fire is a nice touch, but it wasn't caramelized, or crunchy in any way, and seemed as if it had been steamed? Not sure what was going on there. All in all, this is a little hole in the wall that feels local. I thought the food was fine, but maybe it's just Belgian food I find meh. But, if you're looking for Bruxellois food. I think this isn't a bad bet.

Amazing place! This is apparently the oldest beer shop in the world, it has excited more than 31…read moreyears and started out with 200 beers, now there's more than 400! Lovely little back yard with a bit of sun and the jazz playing from the shop. The owner is super friendly and informative, and beer can apparently be shipped all over the world. Definitely a hidden gem, so only tell your best friends ;)

It is a little away from the center of town so we had the place to the two of us and some locals who stopped in for a drink. They have a huge selection of beer to buy and drink on sight. I was so happy I had a box shipped home so share with my beer family. It is pricey but you can some bottles here you can get state side and it it saves you from trying to carry it in your luggage. My box made it state side with no problems until my friend placed it in my garage. I only lost 3 out of 48 bottles so not bad. We had the famous Belgium fries to go with out drinks and they do them well here. Belgium's do fries unlike any one I know.

They know their business and give great advice on wine collection, which is excellent. Very nice, design-y interior decoration, comfortable chairs. Ideal for: -a relaxing glass of wine after work, -parties of 1 to 6 people, as the bar is not very big, -take away wine, -a platter of cheese, ham and salami The only minor downside, it closes shortly after 8:30pm, which is a bit early for Brussels late-working wine lovers. They are super nice and do not kick you out if you haven't finished your glass yet, but it would be great to have such a great place open 'till 10pm at least!
