The table was booked for 5.45, and the table was ready for us at that time, although we didn't actually sit down until we'd all arrived and had a drink in the bar area, which was shortly after 6pm. Most of us chose from the specials menu which offers two courses for £9.95, and a 3rd course for a couple of quid extra, so value for money the menu appeared to be spot-on. The only disappointment was that they could not provide us with Bruschetta, apparently they were short of onions that night. With this in mind I opted for the Mozzarella & Tomato Salad to start with, and the American Blue Pizza as a main course. Although the restaurant was over 2/3 full, our starters arrived within 30 mins, which bearing in mind the size of our party, I did not feel was particually slow and gave us a chance to chat and catch up with what was happening in each other's lives. Furthermore it appeared that other diners were receiving their orders before us, which to me demonstrated that the kitchen-staff were able to prioritise orders and not let other diners be inconvenienced by our presence. My only complaint with the meal was that my starter did not have very much salad. This as a non-meat eater, is a common gripe as the dishes I generally choose cost far less to prepare, yet are of the same size or the same price as meat dishes. The pizza was excellent. The thin base was crispy but not burnt. There was enough tomato base to flavour and compliment the pizza, but not so much that it took over, and the toppings gave a good taste and texture to the meal. Having a hearty appetite I did opt for a dessert, and chose the Sticky Toffee Pancakes. These were prepared and served quickly, and I found them particularly tasty. The service was good, and the staff attentive, especially as I earlier noted, the restaurant was reasonably full, and actually became as full as it did in a very short space of time. Being a chain 'themed' Italian/American restaurant, you are not going to get the authentic taste of Italian food, and to get that you should go to a non-chain/franchise restaurant. For a pleasant dining experience this F&B's outlet did tick all the boxes, and my partner and I will be returning in the near future to try the breakfast menu. If there was more Rocket on my starter then this would have been a 5* review.

Considering this venue deals with wedding guests a lot you would assume it is equipped for it. I stayed the night before and the night of the wedding. The room I stayed in had no iron/ ironing board to prepare for the wedding. Meaning most, would have creased up shirts/ dresses and un-groomed hair, unless you bought them ready pressed and your own hair dryer. We tried to make the bride/grooms bedroom a bit more romantic and special, but found the bedroom with an unclean/unmade bed and no clean towels. When we asked the reception about this (two very helpful ladies) stated they only clean the rooms every 3 days (for reference, the groom stayed in the room the night before). Although I appreciate to save on energy, water and wages, they don't need to clean the rooms everyday. It makes sense for the night of the wedding to show some professional courtesy and check the bride/grooms room is up to standard. Please note. After asking reception they got the cleaning department to resolve the matter. All was ok eventually. Overall the venues was nice and the wedding event was a success. However, I felt the need to review to hopefully highlight the issue and help the venue to be better.

The buffet area though was a little cramped & if the place is busy you might have to que (unless they move it to another area when busy). Not the best place for a romantic dinner for two, but if you want an unfussed bite to eat on your way home from work or night out with freinds before hitting the town then you can't go far wrong with this place.

The drab, tired exterior and bland simple furnishings do nothing to enthuse and warm you to the restaurant. However, the Bengal Lancer is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The Maitre D' and second waiter are very welcoming, friendly, pleasant and attentive to your requests. The food is excellent amongst the best I have tasted; including all the Bradford and Manchester curry houses that I have tried. We started with a couple of fresh poppadoms each, followed by onion bhaji and mixed kebab starters. The service was good, the plates were nice and warm and a dish/plate warmer was placed in the centre of the table. Both starters arrived sizzling on a metal platter and were served at the table excellent. Both starters were of good quality and the restaurant was now beginning to sit favourably with us and transform our original impression. A large pickle (3 dishes) tray and mint yoghurt sauce was presented with the poppadoms and starters this was complimentary and was warmly welcomed fantastic! We didn't have long to wait for our main course Chicken Korma, Garlic Chili Chicken Korai, Pilau Rice and 2 Tandoori Roti's. The Roti's were sublime, probably the best that I have ever sampled. My friend commented that her Korma WAS the best that she has ever had and that the rice was also nicely cooked. My Garlic Chili Chicken arrived steaming hot in its Korai dish and had an exquisite aroma. I waited a couple of minutes for it to cool, before diving in with my Roti curry heaven! The dish was intricately spiced with fresh green chilies and was top class. The chef is worth his weight in gold. As others have mentioned, they do not have an alcohol license. They do however sell a wide range of soft drinks and bottled water. They were quite willing and happy for us to have a jug of ordinary water and didn't charge for this. They are also more than happy for you to bring your own wine/beer/lager to accompany your meal. The Bengal Lancer is a great Indian restaurant and I would strongly suggest that you try it, should you happen to be in the area. We are back off there on Friday, in order to try a couple more of their dishes. I am sure that we will not be disappointed.

They don't have a drinks licence but you are welcome to bring your own drinks and there is no corkage charge so it makes a cheap enjoyable evening.
