Hello,
My child went to the elementary school that I would absolutely not recommend unless your child rates 170 at his IQ test, is able to absorb basic curriculum three times faster than any other child, does not need extra private lessons to help, can cope with limited space available and is bright enough to manipulate other kids to survive...Actually, if your child is not a child.
For 10,000 € a year, they promise blossoming, balance and excellence, with small groups that makes individual treatment/help of your child easy in case he/she is not "bright" enough.
The facts are :
- the school offers lots of extra activities, field trips... with the aim to open the kids' minds to the world or other cultures, but this is really disconnected from the curriculum and takes too much time out from the curriculum : kids are zapping from a subject to another one without any connection and the basic knowledge level is very low unless you can afford extra teachers ;
- the 45 minutes support offered in case kids have difficulties is far from being enough to balance curriculum dispension ;
- kids who sat the exam the re-integrate public school after CM2 have poor results ; unless the school says they have excellent level ;
- there has been (from my personal knowledge) at least 5 cases of bullying ;
- kids are recommended to change schools when they cannot follow the pace (in their own interest !) and left backwards to "keep the school level" that very few (I don't know any) can reach without external help.
Where is the individual support promised ? Where is blossoming ? Where is balance ?
I feel screwed by that school that made my kid sad and backwards.
I feel screwed because if they had clearly said that their values were basically the same as the EAB JM or some other very elitist schools that put kids out when they don't have the level to follow, I would probably have chosen another option.
