I was told I was paying a damage deposit that would be returned at drop of - I confirmed at drop off that the charge on my card was being returned, which they confirmed would take place within 48 hours. Hertz is now telling me that I approved these charges - which includes a young drivers surcharge (I am not a young driver) as well as $740 MISCELLANEOUS ADJUSMENT that they can't tell me what it was for. This 'adjustment' is almost double what the entire rental was supposed to be. I am extremely frustrated. I've rented cars all over the world. This was a scam. When you arrive and see the slimball guy trying to wave people down you know you are screwed. He pulled the same scam on us and our friends 2 days later. Don't let Hertz ruin your vacation. I have rented from this company at least three times before in past years. The cars are getting…read moreworse in quality while the prices go up. This time, the car they rented me at first was all beat up and the electronic key did not work. I had to return and show them and get a different car which costed me a few hours of time. Then the second car had a squealing engine and transmission was weak. When I returned 1 day early (still had the car for 7 days) they refused to refund me for the 1 extra day I had intended to have the car. This is after I specifically asked when I rented the car if I would be refunded 1 day $ if I returned 1 day early- and the responded yes- twice. I am English speaking but I understand Spanish very well and speak it enough to make myself clear. It obvious puerto is getting greedier by the day and this company is just the same. No respect.

Sometimes we rent cars in Mexico based on our vacation needs. This would be our fourth trip to Huatulco and then we come across this crap on Tuesday, November 5, 2024: $60 for basic car, for 4 days. Season travelers that we are, we usually take the lowest insurance rate. The desk person tells us that it would cost $200 more to rent the car on top of $60 rate, otherwise, we can't rent. We heard her loud and clear and we spoke Spanish. The desk person did not budge, there was no wiggle room for negotiation, or given another offer to help our situation, but that. Then, here comes along this male staff standing at the desk area beside her (identified later as a sales person for a local resort) stating, if we attend a time-share presentation, he would offer us a car rental at a much lower rate. A double scam! Um, NO THANK YOU and we took off in a taxi, to our resort. Our taxi fare for the four of us was 400 pesos. We're told 350-400 was typical fare. Very unsatisfied with Europcar rental car in Huatulco, but very satisfied that we decided to leave the shady establishment and did not entertain their scam plan. WARNING ------------------------ Additional note, here's typical reply from the owner or who were runs EUROPCAR : "All the comments from our clients are really important for us, as their feedback is always taken into consideration to improve, grow and being able to offer our clients remarkable experiences. When I complained publicly and called it out saying this was a bad company and a scam, another local who was working made eye contact and gave me a slight head nod to validate my concern. They repeatedly lied to me, wasted my time, drove me from one location to another, all in all the worst experience I've ever had and the reason I've started this account to protect you reader from people and businesses like this. Do yourself a favor, do not waste your time until this company and location of Europcar fixes their business practices.
