If I could, I would leave negative stars! What I have endured with AVIS is the worst customer…read moreservice ever in my entire life. It all started with my rental booking through booking.com. I rented the car and wanted to extend it. I was then told at the airport, that they can't give me the rate that was agreed in the rental agreement, and that the system wouldn't allow to use the same code. The employee at the Airport branch blamed it on the third party (booking.com) situation and suggested to close that contract and open a new rental agreement through the AVIS app. Because it was the same day at the airport, it's needless to say that the rates were almost the double AND I had to pay another security deposit! I booked for 2 weeks and I was assured by the employee, that now that I have booked through the AVIS app, I can extend through the app, online or even on the phone with the customer service. On August 16th I tried to extend the rental via app, which didn't work. I used the Chat Support and they told me, because this is an international rental (I am living in the US) they can't extend it, I needed to drive to the location! My family was making vacation in Hamburg, the location is in Nuremberg. I had to drive 600 km just to EXTEND the rental!!! Needless to say that I was mad!!! Never did this happen to me with ANY other car rental company!!! I drove on the 17th to Nuremberg (almost 7 hours with traffic jams on the autobahn) and because the location had already closed, I went there the next morning. The RA was until the 18th anyway! The same employee who rented me the car was surprised seeing me there and when I explained to him the situation, he tried to extend the car but had the same issue. He couldn't give me the rate, which was agreed in the rental agreement of € 33.15 per day including tax for additional days. His new rate was MORE than DOUBLE!!! I was pissed!!! My family was still in Hamburg and Cologne, waiting for me to come back with the car, but AVIS wasn't able to give me the WRITTEN and AGREED rate for the extension! The employee instructed me to write a complaint and dispute the charge. I was told, that as long the investigation goes on, the charge would be put on hold. I had to drive 1,800 km within 3 days to collect my family, had additional €177.02 fuel cost and not to mentioning the messed up family reunion vacation!!! I returned the car on the 20th and the same night I wrote the complaint, received immediately an automated email with a reference number and that the issue would be investigated. While I was waiting for a response and customer friendly solution of the issue, they now, on August 25th, pulled out the money ($751.83) out of my account while there's still NO RESPONSE to my complaint and the investigation is still going on!!! HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AN INTERNATONAL COMPANY LIKE AVIS CANNOT EXTEND INTERNATIONAL RENTALS FOR THE SAME AGREED RATE AS STATED AND SIGNED IN THE RENTAL AGREEMENT??? NEVER DID I HAVE ANY ISSUES LIKE THAT WITH ANY OTHER COMPANY!!! I think this is fraud, because AVIS agreed in WRITTEN to a rate and after you picked up the car they don't give you the agreed rate, make you either pay more than double of the rate, OR you have to close the contract and make a new RA, so the employee can benefit from it by getting paid commission (or other benefits), and cash in another security deposit. I already reached out to the leadership of AVIS via email. Still haven't heard back from anyone yet!!! Are there any legal attorneys out there to take on this case??? I am pretty sure there are more customers like me running into this issue!!!

I had such an awful time with Europcar it was actually upsetting. I was treated like I was…read moresomething the employee at the France collection point had stepped in. I was ignored for ages, at first thought it was a language thing. After saying excuse me for 5 minutes in front of the woman only to be ignored, I returned to my place in the queue only to be called forward by her a few minutes later! She then went on to chat to her colleague in French, laughing as she did. She then told us we hadn't paid for insurance, which I was able to prove to her we had paid. Then it was the additional driver we had not paid for, once again had the paperwork but she would not back down and charged us an extra 49 euros for something we had already paid for! When I got home I emailed Europcar, only to be ignored once more. Called after 12 days and the complaint had not long being logged. I was guaranteed a response within 7-14 working days from when it was logged. Once again I had to call to chase them up, France had not responded so they then escalated it to a mediation team and once again guaranteed me a response within 3 working days. I called them on the fourth day, only to be told someone would call me back within 24 hours. I called again 25 hours later, the person who was meant to call me back was on leave for a week!!!! Finally spoke to someone, the first person who said sorry for it all and refunded me the 49 euros and additional 50 euros as an apology. It was not about the money, although I am glad I got the 49 euros back. I wanted an apology for being ignored, called a liar, laughed at and muttered about in a language I was not able to understand. I have told them, and I know I will never use Europcar again. I am not telling you not to use them, I am just giving a review on how I was treated and how my complaint was dealt with, which is an honest account of what happened.
