We had the first ones installed in the 2 front windows by them in 1974, and still going strong. In the mean time have had them installed in all windows and a good friend had them installed in the whole house, including sliding and non sliding door size windows. They are great in the winter, to keep the rain away from the windows, and the house nice and cosy, and in the summer to keep the hot summer from shinining into the rooms. Makes a huge difference. Can also sleep the shutters down and windows open at night. I strongly recommend them. Great company to work with and great service. read more

They came to our house to measure, gave great advice, left us with some samples to hang in the window to gauge screen color and percentage, and installed our solar shade perfectly. They are not cheap, but that's because they manufacture and install their own high quality shades, with no middleman. The 5% black shade we had installed has made a HUGE difference in our giant south facing living room window. We previously had a blackout curtain on the inside, but our double paned window glass was still hot to the touch on the inside. The solar shade has completely stopped all of that heat transfer, and our air conditioning has started turning on literally hours later as a result. The solar shade has also made TV watching possible all day long without needing to close the blackout curtains. The best part is we haven't lost our beautiful view when the shade is down. Reporting whoever was driving the ERS Van up Capitol Expressway at about noon on January 14th. He was very aggressive tailgating and honking at the person in front of him. Then he ended up behind me and was tailgating me very very close. If this is the character of an employee or whoever (maybe owner) you should go with another company. The salesman came and gave a quote and explained more details about our choice and installation. The product was delivered on time and the workers effectively installed the shutters and answered operating questions. I want to draw attention to people who are living in unfamiliar areas, or the same place and you are considering the various ways to secure your property and your family - to have a level of security added - and are pondering between Xfinity/cable company cameras hooked to wifi and/or ring doorbell with photos of your porch sent to your phone or adding alarm systems to every window and door, etc. etc. Some people may do all of them.. and then they find they are in the security business now too.. or you can hire a 3rd party security company to respond to your calls, or I just drove by a huge home on a frontage road and they've got huge fences and gates with cameras of course and 3 rows of barbed wire on top of the fences. I want to share that I had these metal rolling shutters installed on my last house in San Jose as there were issues with people breaking into back french doors- so I had these installed on my glass french doors. It gave us a secure feeling when were not home* Also I had them installed on my Santa Cruz home front and back doors - they are very good to have if you leave the home for a period of time. Or if you want to use them as screen doors, the way they are constructed you can press the button for a a few seconds and now you have a metal screen door - with air flow passing through - can even have them open at night and still provide secure metal doors over the openings of your home. This company is a pleasure to work with, and the product is superior to what I thought it would be. We installed rolling window shades on a large western window. (silver color). It was quite hot without this, and the shade made the room so much more pleasant. Andre who came to see our project is very responsive to any questions and the installation team was very professional. When we had an issue with one of the shades, Andre came out to adjust it quickly and without any issues. We are installing another one on another window. I think the best thing about these shades is that we were surprised how smoothly they work. If you're considering a roof awning, read this. ERS installed in fall 2020 a roof-mounted awning over our patio that is bounded on three sides by our house. The awning itself is great; it cut down tremendously on the sunlight heating up our home and has enabled us to significantly reduce our AC use. I have to deduct two stars, however, because of the installation. During the sales visit, I was assured that ERS would install the awning properly onto the roof. After the installation, I was a little dubious that it was water-tight and called back ERS. The installers assured me everything was OK, after adding a little sealant. During the winter rains, I noticed water dripping from the hole through which the electrical cord passed through the roof eaves. I called my roofer to inspect the installation. He noted several problems: (1) the placement of the hole for the cord was right next to the roof valley which is like a highway for water; (2) one of the mounting brackets was mounted into part of the valley; and (3) the housing of the awning sat on the roof itself, which would likely collect debris over time against the housing and cause more issues with water. After back and forth with ERS, we settled on a plan for my roofer to repair the roof valleys and for the mounting brackets to be relocated and raised onto wooden blocks which were custom flashed with metal. ERS covered the valley repair cost (25% of the cost for the incremental work) but not the rest because they felt it wasn't necessary. I disagreed but didn't push the topic too hard, being too busy. In any case, if you are interested in a roof-mounted awning, I recommend asking ERS to tell you exactly how they plan to install the roof, where they are penetrating the roof, etc. to avoid these sort of problems I experienced. read more

End of November 2020, I contacted European Rolling Shutters to have shutters installed for my windows and sliding glass doors. I met with a sales rep beginning of December 2020 and paid a downpayment of USD 3,500. I was told it would take around three months for the turnaround time and until the installation date. The installation occurred from Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 19, 2021. The construction crew did not have one conversation with me even though I worked from home. I tried once to say 'Good Morning' to them, but it took them some time to even respond to me even then. It was a weird atmosphere. When I checked Friday evening, I saw they left an envelope with an invoice of USD 22,125.38. There was no final walkthrough to check if everything was completed, and they didn't even tell me that they left. I told the sales rep that there is a discrepancy between the invoice I found in an envelope at the house and the one he sent me later via email for $36,561.46. I made him aware that I submitted a request on Friday evening for my bank to send me a check for the amount in the envelope, including a checkbook with blank checks, and I would let him know when either of them arrives first. However, I'd have to cancel the first check request due to the discrepancy and request a new check from my bank for the higher amount. I also told the rep that Jose and Augustine never talked to me while on-site, and there was no final walk through to go over problem areas. The crew installed solar shutters but did not mount the switches on the walls for each room but instead placed a remote in one window for all three windows without the original box, the hardware that came with it so it could be mounted or any instructions. This happened for four areas in the room while we should have received seven switches for each solar shutter mounted next to the other switches for the room. In addition, the workers placed the drawstring box at different heights in the living room, which looks absolutely unprofessional. The windows are the same height, but the strings for the shutters are now at different heights. While I have been waiting for a final walkthrough and to get these issues fixed, the sales rep started contacting my renters behind my back. He asked both for the money. One of the renters was intimidated into paying USD 2,000.00. When I found out, I let the rep know that I had to cancel the check request again and request a new check for the new amount since they had taken USD 2,000.00. What happened then was that they refunded the USD 2,000.00, resulting in me having to request a new check again and reissue a new check pushing the wait time further out. However, all the rep was spouting about was that he wants his money while ignoring the issues of the crew and that there was no final walkthrough to fix the problem areas. My blank checkbook arrived before the requested check since the amounts kept changing due to their unprofessional behaviour. I ended up writing a check. Nonetheless, three months have passed, which was their waiting period the first time, and still, the living room windows are not at the same height, and no switches were installed for each solar-powered shutter. I guess, as long as they got the money, they don't feel the need to do a final walkthrough and correct the errors. read more

Rolling outdoor window shades installed without a glitch in two rounds. Followup is the problem. The shades need cleaning which requires removing the cover and unrolling the shade while cleaning the roll. A dozen emails and exchange of photos. No promised followup. I have to say, I'm very impressed with the all-around experience with ERS. We have a very large sliding door in our master bedroom that was very difficult to cover. Blinds, curtains, even plantation shutters were solutions but not what we envisioned. I'm so happy we ran across ERS and with the help of Charles our sales consultant we were finally able to come up with a great solution by placing motorized exterior shutters on our sliding door and retractable solar screens to our outer deck openings. My wife and I love the newly created space and privacy that was created. With the touch of a button using the Somfy Wi-Fi system I can open and shut our screens on demand. I would recommend ERS to friends & family any day of the week. Lastly, I must give a big thank you to the installers, mainly Jr. for how courteous & professional he was. Ethical business: Many years back we purchased rolling shutters for our expensive metal clad fine wood and glass door facing West Cliff Drive to protect it from storms. The gears got rusted over the years. We called European to replace the gears. Parts for that shutter were not available. They used substitute parts that do not work as well. They decided to send us a check partially refunding the charges. read more

We love our exterior screens, which we have had for over 2 years. Recently one of them stuck - wouldn't retract. Ricky and Victor came out, figured out that something had shifted slightly that was preventing the screen from moving, and fixed it in 10 minutes. Great service! We have had our European rolling shutters for approximately 12 years on all the windows and sliding glass doors of our home. This has probably been one of the best home improvement investments we made. Not only do the shutters keep the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, they are great for crime prevention. The shutters are a deterrent to burglars and makes you feel safe whether you are in the home or on vacation. They have helped cut down on outside noise as well. We have shutters that are operated on a pull strap, an electric wall switch, and a remote control and we are happy with the functionality off all of them. This is a family owned and operated business and I can't express how wonderful their customer service is. We have had the company out for several service calls for maintenance, cleaning, and a re-installation after a stucco and window repair. The service people are all very competent at what they do. European Rolling Shutters owners go above and beyond to make sure their clients are happy with their product. This is very important to us. The shutters are expensive and might discourage people from making the investment, but over the years we are certainly glad we did. read more

I really do not love writing bad reviews here, but I was so taken back with Paul that I felt justified. Please note I am not giving 1 star for the product, I can not review it as we did not end up buying it due to below. This review is simply on my communication with the company. I called in a few weeks back looking for a new awning (ours is torn and we need to replace it). I had a wonderful, friendly conversation with him - he was so nice and I was very impressed. A few days later one of his salesmen reached out to give me a pricing and was going to call me back to schedule a time to take measurements so we could move forward. I never heard back from him, so I followed up via text (that is how he had communicated with me prior) and no reply. I waited a few days and called back Paul to follow up as to see if there was someone who could come and was blown away by his incredibly rude reply. He never apologized that his sales person didn't follow up, or even say, ok lets get something going for you...he proceeded to tell me that they are so busy, there are only 3 of them, and that if someone communicated with him via text, he would "never call them back!" He also said if I wanted a new sales person he would really have to dig into it to see what the problem was. His entire tone was completely rude, curt and way above and beyond what should have taken place. I was very friendly when I called in just letting him know I hadn't received a call back and would like to have someone come, if the man that called me wasn't available, could he please send someone else. He was so busy talking over me, that we wouldn't even let me explain that I just didn't care who came; just wanted a simple reply from someone. I am sure this is a wonderful company that does great work, but my experience on the phone was dreadful and because of it, they have lost a sale and I will 100% no recommend. A simple, I am so sorry you had this experience....or we have been so busy, we apologize that you didn't receive a phone call; let me see how I can help you....would have been a wonderful reply. I had ERS install outside solar shades on my west facing windows. Love the shades. After a year of use they still look amazing. We are so pleased with our decision to go with the solar motors, no wiring and energy efficient! Cannot say enough about how great their installers are .... on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. Got blinds installed in a couple hours. My only regret is that I choose a lighter gray shade, I think the darker color would have been better at filtering, but all in all this was a great buying experience. read more

Late last summer I had a very large 23'x14' awning installed. It is a motorized, retractable, wind-sensored, Sunbrella fabric awning that I am so thankful I bit the bullet and had installed. It's a beautiful cover that creates an outdoor room that I can entertain under even on chillier nights because it not only covers and protects from the sun, it also creates an insulation layer from the night air. We just had our third set of motorized solar shades installed in our home. We have worked with Mike Enany each time and couldn't ask for a better experience or product. We have large windows and full sun on both sides of the house. These shades are invaluable in keeping the house cool and shielding the rooms from strong sunlight without blocking the views. While not inexpensive, they are well worth the money. The whole process was very easy, the shades were done and installed in the timeframe we were given. What a great experience we had with ERS. Mike came to our house to give us an estimate. He was on time, courteous and knowledgeable (and we asked a lot of questions!). We opted to go with the solar battery operated shutters and booked our exterior shade installation that same day. Mike quoted a 4 week lead time but our shades came in about 2 1/2 weeks. The installers were incredible. Very professional. Got our shades hung is a matter of hours, cleaned up the job site before leaving. We love solar operated shades. They look very nice on the house. We have noticed how much cooler our interior stays each afternoon when the sun is beating on the back windows of our our home. They were a little pricey, but worth the money we spent. read more

We had this company do a full install of rolling shutters on our windows and external doors. Most electric and the doors with crank over ride. They have been an asset for extra home security as well as insulatiing home against the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter. The motors last a long time and after thirty years, we did need to have them come back and do a motor replacement on a door. read more

We are very pleased with our new retractable rolling shade. The shade keeps out the sun but we are still able to see through it to the outside. The staff at European Rolling Shutters was excellent. The ordering and installation went smoothly. We went to their showroom where they showed us the various options for this type of product. We have very large floor to ceiling windows and the shade works well on the window. They offer wireless switch or remote, and we chose the switch. It works great. The ordering and planning for installation was very straightforward and well-organized. There were no hidden costs or "last minute" invoice corrections. The scheduling for the work was clear and the installation crew arrived exactly on time and were fully-equipped for both the job and any unanticipated issues (a low hanging eaves in our case). The installation crew were great - fast, cheerful and careful to clean up after their work. Follow-up issues (up-down adjustments) were very quickly and clearly dealt with by phone. We decided to make our back porch a dedicated workout area and get the various pieces of exercise equipment out of our family room. Concerned that the heat of the day during summer and the cold during winter months would discourage us from working out, we searched for options that would keep us comfortable year round. We looked at sunrooms and an add-on but they would all cost too much and change the footprint of the house. We went to a home show to get some ideas and met Mike Enany who showed us some photos that looked very much like what we had in mind. We made an appointment for Mike to come out and make an assessment and a recommendation. After we talked, we decided to go with European Rolling Shutters. Yes, they are expensive, but perfect for our needs. We could have saved some money by not making them motorized but that would have been a hardship to pull down and roll up manually since they were so heavy (15' length). It took a couple of weeks for them to manufacture our shutters and we were called to make an installation appointment. Oh, my gosh... I have never had any kind of installation go so smoothly. Richie and Junior came out right on time, assessed the best access route (these blinds are long and our walkways around the house are uneven and narrow) and brought the blinds through the living room and through the sliding windows right to the back porch. They did some measurements and gave us an alternative option to hooking up the power that would look much nicer and more discreet than I had thought possible. What I ended up with was a tiny stucco replacement patch on my wall which I can paint to match in a flash. The installation is almost invisible unless the shutters are down and, if they are up, you have to know that they are there because you would not notice otherwise. The cover is sleek and fits into our décor. Mike came out as well and helped them put the blinds in place. There was a 1/4" difference height between the two sides of my deck and, after some discussion amongst the three of them, they shaved one of the tracks so that the difference would be virtually invisible. I am thrilled. When I saw the shutters in place and they showed me how to work them, I realized that I actually have a bonus room now that can be converted to an entertaining area at the touch of a remote button. I can open the slider from the family room to the porch (or the windows in the living room) to share in the air conditioning and heating from the house when the weather outside is uncooperative. I can also roll the shutters down when the gardeners come by with the blowers or when it is raining. I even have extra space to put up some tables when relatives come for the holidays. Plus, the shutters will keep my house cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold. Another bonus is that the shutters in the down position act as an additional barrier to home intrusion. Now, the value becomes more apparent to me. I love these rolling shutters and now know why I've seen them on houses in Spain, France and Italy. The installation took about 4 hours and the guys cleaned up after themselves and wiped everything down that they had touched. I love that they treated me and my home with respect. We loved our shutters, install was pretty seamless and they came back without complaining (or charging) to fix some nit-picky issues and even replaced a part because I wasn't completely satisfied. I was a little surprised at how the raising and lowering mechanism looked on the manual model but it ended up being fine. We LOVED having these shades and miss them so much after we sold our house - there is nothing like sleeping in without being disturbed by the sun's waking up.
