I was surprised by some of the nicer items they carried. For example, they carried nicer quality souvenir magnets for one Euro... the exact ones sold for 5 Euros in other souvenir stores! If you have little patience, this is not the store for you. It is small with lots of customers and only one cashier. I still had fun checking it out, though!

Here's the deets:…read more 1) Easy to reach with the 63 Bus, this Aldi is in the lower level of the new "Forum" shopping centre at the north end of the Friendheimer Brücke. 2) There is a parking garage for those of you who drive. 3) The store is really large. While the selection is pretty standard for all Aldi locations, the fact that they have space means they are less likely to be out of whatever you need, as can often happen at smaller Aldi locations right before Ruhetage. 4) The large space also means that there are more "special" items for sale in the middle of the store, such as an extra large Easter candy display. Yum. 5) I might be seeing things through rose-tinted lenses, but I have the feeling that there are more organic items here than at other locations. For example, I saw organic whole grains - spelt, millet, barley - being sold here, which I haven't noticed anywhere else. 6) After getting the basics here, it's easy to round out the rest with either the Alnatura or the Rewe on the ground floor level.

Crew, S. Oliver instead of The Gap - but the construction, flow and feeling of the place really parallels the nicer malls I used to see back in the good ol' US of A. That said, the selection in the stores here seems to be about half of each respective store's normal stock. So if you don't find what you want here, you might consider looking for a bigger location of the same store. One bonus here is the free wifi. Summed up: Nicer than OEZ, but you might end up having to go to another location elsewhere in Munich to get what you want.

Shopping here is very much a treasure hunt to find good deals so you will need to be patient. That said, I didn't really like the product selection nor did I like the pricing. Felt like I could get better deals back in the US. If you have the time to search and can deal with crowds, you may come up with something here but I would rather sightsee or eat and drink than spend time looking for an elusive find.

We were staying in Old Town and I got the impression you could really only find very expensive, designer ones or touristy, low quality ones. After a lot of research, I saw Trachten Rausch come up multiple times. I walked to the store and was immediately greeted by a young saleswoman who figured out my size quickly and whisked me away to a small changing room. She brought a few options, helped me in and out of them and we settled on two final options - both reasonably priced (do not expect to spend less than 150 euro on anything quality). I chose the one I wanted and was rung up and out the door. Both sales women I spoke with spoke excellent English and didn't make me feel bad about my very poor German speaking skills. This was an excellent experience - the dirndls are beautiful and I'm excited to wear mine!

Trust me when I say women get good service here and English speaking men are out of luck. The service is rushed and pressured. The male employee was pushy and didn't even know how to size me. I shopped multiple stores in Munich and found Angermaier near Marienplatz to be amazing. The selection for both men and women was fantastic. The employees are friendly and educated. The prices are not low end but they have mid and upper level stuff. I don't write reviews to punish a business, but I know there are people like me who want the full Oktoberfest experience and buying traditional clothes in a foreign country is confusing. My experience was bad here and world class somewhere else.
