Quick grocery store easily accessible from downtown Bolzano. Good selection of items, a bit pricier than Aldi across the river but very convenient for a quick grab! read more

This might have been a four-star grocery store. I mean, "yay! I'm a fan" and everything but there…read moreis nothing really special going on here. Don't get me wrong... there is absolutely nothing wrong with this mini-supermarket... but nothing is going to blow you away. Despar is a chain of supermarkets ... actually Despar is owned by the same people who own Eurospoar (medium-sized markets) and Interspar (genuine SUPER markets), if I have that right. If you are in need of a supermarket because you need bottled water and toothpaste and some snacks (I think they have a small deli in back, too), this is a good stop... It's hard to tell from the front and if you aren't familiar with the name/signage, you might walk right by without knowing that this is place to stop if you don't want to spend €75 on minibar candy in your hotel. I'm pretty sure this is a walking street only so don't expect to pull your car up and load with groceries.
Our favorite little organic grocery store in Bolzano -- everything in the store is organic and I…read morethink vegetarian. The people who work there are wonderfully kind, and they have an incredible variety of bulk nuts, cereals, grains, soaps, etc., for sale. It is amazing how much they have packed into a small space. Also a very nice coffee/tea stop and cafe (some baked goods for sale), with pleasant outdoor seating on the patio in front. In a quiet residential zone of Bolzano. They have an admirable "zero waste" philosophy. We would love to live near this store and make it a part of our daily life.
I love grocery stores. This was a short walk from my hotel and another person on my tour who had…read morelived in Germany said it would be good. It was. I was able to get a phone charger since I forgot part of mine. I also got snacks and some gift cookies, etc. I had to go back twice to get apples since I couldn't figure out the scale system and got that disapproving look. But after asking my tour guide how, I went back and successfully bought them. Very nice store and the prices seemed good to me. They had some pre-made food and sushi as well although I did not try any of that.
