Mondelliani is iconic, almost a shrine to the finest eyewear anywhere. Owned and operated by the charming Federico Mondello and his enchanting mother, the family has been in the optical business since 1961. The staff is trained to sell you only what fits your face and needs. Mondelliani knows style and cater to both the discerning and the uninitiated. Federico knows everyone in the business. I was told to go to Mondelliani by the CEO of the world's largest optical company, but he asked me not to drop his name. I won't. Mondelliani does not carry his frames.
Dropping in with my wife, we were enjoying trying on the great frame selection, which includes Blackfin, Ryo Yamashita, Robert La Roche, Anne et Valentin, Lindberg, and Mykita, plus their own brand of stylish frames aptly labeled Mondelliani. Their selection goes on and on. While we were having fun, Federico walked over and showed me a frame by Michel Henau, a limited-edition piece heralding their 25th Anniversary. It was a work of art. It took me two days and three visits to Mondelliani to make a decision. Federico was patient and encouraged me to take my time. He is very kind and understanding. I had to have this frame. It was gorgeous.
Drop by Mondelliani just for a visit, even if you're not in the market for eyeglasses. It's a blast just spending time there. Mondelliani is a must-see when in Rome.
