I wish I could give this place zero stars. My friend and I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the manager, Scott. He was not just rude--he was downright disrespectful and condescending. Despite both of us presenting our valid IDs--mine being updated due to age requirements--he refused to accept them without any reasonable explanation. Instead, he chose to speak to us in a way that was utterly unprofessional and dismissive. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. No one should have to deal with that kind of treatment just trying to make a simple purchase. I'm very unhappy with my experience at Evan's wines and liquors. I purchased a case of wine on Friday for 150.oo. they carried it out and put it in my car for me. When I got home I discovered it was the wrong kind. I took it back the very next day and I was told that they couldn't take it back because they can't be sure it didn't get hot, chilled then hot again. It was 24 hours ago! If they can't trust they're customers how can we trust them? I will never shop there again! I'm out the money and stuck with a case of wine I don't like. They are in a brand new building they built across the street. Let me tell you, this has made all the difference in the world. Spacious, clean, helpful professional staff, awesome huge selection, comparable prices, no clutter, and rotating seasonal/new products on end cap displays. I am used to the awful ABC-state experience. Evans left me quite happy. Last week, I walked in and out with a case of their barrel pick of Old Forester. WIN! Fantastic bottle for $38.99. Variety is outstanding compared to what's in the area. Prices, whiskey-wise, were pretty standard. I didn't see the outrageous mark-up many were claiming. Sounds like uninformed consumers... Prove it haters, what specific product was marked-up? I can't speak to wine nor much else aside from whiskey, bourbon, and rum... Over the years I have purchased a lot of booze here and was always happy with my transactions. Highly recommended. read more

I love this liquor store mostly because of its half assed organization with boxes somewhat out of order and cluttered aisles that keep me wandering but in the process discovering unique wines and liquors not commonly found elsewhere. They have everything any other liquor store seems to have but in addition some items others don't, like off beat quality wines at a reasonable price. Also, if you need boxes, they usually have a stack of empties out front which they generally give away for the asking. read more

Went once, was told they had 13 bottles of what I needed in inventory but they couldn't find it, so I left. Returned today, they didn't have any out and finally found the case in the back. Girl who looked was very helpful. Old lady who cashed me out got upset when I commented on their organizational system. Her response was "you keep track of all this stuff! Thanks for insulting us," That's what I get for trying to give them business. Won't be making that mistake again. There's nothing they have that I can't get elsewhere. If I'm here multiple times trying to buy stuff from you, maybe you should be able to find it. read more

Yes, their wine selection is large, but the Customer Service left me wishing for some competition. Don't know about you, but I don't appreciate handing over 40 or 50 bucks to female sales staff that act like you are inconveniencing them by walking through the door. No thanks. I actually go out of my way to shop other liquor stores, just so I don't support establishments that look as if they forget who pays their bills. read more

If you are looking for a bottle of wine to give as a gift to a friend or are just looking to stock up your own cellar, this place has more then enough to satisfy your needs. The reason for the four star over the five is merely out of being spoiled by Premier Wine & Spirits in Buffalo that offers much better deals on wines weekly. Very good selection of wine and liquor. The store is usually very busy but the employees have always been nice courteous and helpful. Prices are competitive but if you want something special I would suggest that you know the price of what you're looking for so you can compare to Evans' price. The place is a mess and the customer service terrible. A big majority of their whiskey selection is priced well above retail, 100% -150% on some items. When I asked why, I was told to go buy it somewhere else who has it cheaper. With employees like this representing your business I can't see this place lasting. Went to buy a bottle of kahlua and the price was outrageous, about 12 dollars more than I bought the same bottle there the last time I purchased one, do they hike up prices in the summer because of tourist? Went to the finger lakes, into a liquor store, bought a bigger bottle of kahlua cheaper than I bought a smaller bottle at Evans! There are other liquor stores I can shop at, price gouge someone else! read more

LOVE this place. I try to find an excuse to get here when we are at our camp. Great prices and AMAZING selection. If you're looking for some obscure thing you heard of, or a wine that you tried somewhere, or novelty packaging or different sizes or mixers or ANYTHING that is an adult beverage, this place has it. Like a candy store for grown ups. Plan to spend some time browsing around, discovering new things to try. It's not a huge place, but there is a LOT packed in there. I always manage to find a reason to make a Jamestown run and this place is always on my list. :-) read more

Evans Liquor Store is a great place to shop for wine and liquor. They stock the usual and the unusual in wines. They will even special order. They found a case of our favorite Santa Ynez Valley Reisling for us recently when we could not find it anywhere else. Great personalized service! We do all of our wine and liquor shopping there.
