    Sweet & Savory

I ate at Eva's on Main for the first time yesterday! I am so surprised that I haven't tried this place yet! It was delicious! I highly recommend! We walked in. We saw a couple of open tables. We asked if we could sit by the window at the bar. They said they had other people waiting on tables so we'd have to wait. They said it would take about 15 minutes. We walked across the street to the square. There was Halloween themed decorations everywhere. Lots of things to take pictures of and to take pictures with. After 15 minutes had passed, we walked back across the street to Eva's. They were just about to call my name to seat us. So we waited about another minute or two then they sat us. I ordered the Sweet & Savory. It came with baguette style French toast as well as a fried boneless chicken breast. It was so good. I had never had chicken and French toast together. The French toast was really cool. A lot softer than expected from a baguette. The chicken was nice and juicy. Yum. I definitely would recommend this place. It's right there in downtown Summerville next to lots of shops. The wait was pretty short and the food was excellent, as well as the service. I will definitely be back.

Let's keep it real... this is your average, mom n pops, greasy spoon diner. It is great. No frills, no wow factor, reliable Southern style food with a limited but satisfying menu selection. It was purely by chance I ended up here, and was looking for breakfast. I was there a few minutes after 11am on a weekday, and was informed if just missed breakfast. And I overheard the next diner's disappointment at the fact that they'd not be serving Mac n cheese (not sure why). I had the fried chicken and bacon sandwich with pepper jack. Generous and real slices of crispy bacon on an also generous sized piece of fried chicken. The bun was fresh and greasy. Basic 1 slice of iceburg lettuce and 1 single ring of white onion. I could've used more of both. Ketchup and mayo bottles were on the side, and no mustard was offered or brought. Fries were awesome and a good portion size. Pop was cool even without ice (how I asked/prefer). I ended up only eating half of the whole meal since it was filling. Temperature was okay but could've been hotter. The place was clean overall. He/She bathroom, also clean but if in use, you'll have to wait. Parking is available on the very busy main road. Wheelchair accessible. I'd go back for sure but wouldn't go out of my way. Staff were super nice to everyone who walked in.

The food was good. The service was good. The ambiance was normal. I've been wanting to try this place I'm glad I got to park in front of the door, walk in and was immediately seated in the best seat in the place with the window view.

    Where are all the blueberries?

Nice cooling cafe in the middle of Main Street . The waitress was very nice and told me ahead of time things that they ran out of today. I ordered the pancakes either eggs and bacon and added blueberries and coffee. Coffee is ok but it was not that hot like it been sitting in a hot pot or something. Blueberry pancakes taste like bisquik and there were so few blueberries I could count them on both hands. Eggs look like they are using small eggs to serve since they were not big at all. Bacon tasted hard and cold like they had cooked it all off in the morning. The plate must have been cold since it came straight out of the kitchen it was already cold and could not melt the butter I put on it. Also they use such small plates to make the food look bigger than it really is to the customer. Why does this restaurant have a shower in the bathroom ?????

From the moment we walked in we felt like we were part of the family. We loved the vintage atmosphere. Our party of 7 was quickly seated and the hot coffee we requested arrived right away. We were there on a Sunday mid-morning and the place was hopping! I can see why they've been around so long as the food was spectacular! Biscuit were huge and smothered in sausage gravy. My mom kept saying she couldn't take another bite but couldn't resist them!!! I had the omelette and ordered potatoes. The only disappointment was absolutely no substitutions. I'm gluten free and had to pay extra for the potato and gave my biscuit to another person at the table. My omelette was hot and plentiful. The French toast was a favorite at my table too. Will be back!

Saw some family members post on social media about brunch at this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try on a self care day. One, I couldn't believe it was right in In downtown Summerville and I've never heard of it! (I really have to get out more!) two the atmosphere is definitely homey. The food was amazing! I got the omelette, and a blueberry pancake and the biscuit was my favorite! Lol I could've just had 2 biscuits and been satisfied! Lol the service was great! They checked on me constantly and there was no wait. I would go back and try something else and definitely get my biscuit!

Baguette style French toast with compote

We stopped here for breakfast and the hostess and waitress were so friendly and helpful. I had the baguette style french toast with compote - absolutely delicious. My husband tried the Goodness Gracious and we understand the name because goodness was it a lot of food! I highly recommend Eva's if you are in Summerville.

Throughly enjoyed our meal at Eva's. We had never been but were excited to try a summerville landmark. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming (even with the social distancing requirements). The staff was friendly and seemed to really enjoy themselves. We enjoyed all of the memorabilia on the walls; it's fun to see treasures from the past. Our food was delicious; simple and southern as my children called it. We had great service and a wonderful meal, what more could you ask for. Make sure you grab a passport for the Sweet Tea Trail, eva's in on the trail and would love to stamp your book.

My husband and I came in for dinner and sat at the bar. We started with the cheese fritters & bacon jam. We initially thought the bacon jam was missing, but the fritters were great so we just kept eating them! When we got down to the last one, we both realized the "odd looking fritter" in the bowl that we were both avoiding, was the jam (oops!). It was a similar color and shape to the fritters but we both just laughed about avoiding it. For my entree, I was sold on the "award-winning" shrimp & grits that were featured on the Today show (as per their menu). Surprising that this meal made it that far as it didn't taste like anything special to me. It was not bad but very basic/plain; so basic that it felt like something was missing. It was the same case with my husband's meatloaf. However, I would still recommend checking this place out and deciding for yourself if you like it here ;)

This time we climbed to the second floor to find a table at what I would describe as the most inviting bar in the South due to the eclectic decor and the appearance of the bar itself with dozens of upside down bottles hanging from the ceiling that at first I thought they were there just to decorate the place but nooo! they actually poured the specialty bourbon we ordered which BTW was very good and was only 90 proof which was a very nice match to my Yingling, we spent about two hours there and not because the service was slow but because we were having a good time, at times was a little loud but my out of town friends truly enjoyed the kind of place, they said that next time they come to town they would like to come back to the very same table. The conversation and good times is what kept me from taking a picture of the dishes I ordered the Cajun Pasta, was absolutely delicious and will order again the next time I go back, wife ordered the Pecan pork chops and said it was made with her cravings in mind I won't be waiting for out of towners to come in order to go back, this has become my most trusted and preferred Southern restaurant in Chucktown/Summerville area, no questions and way better than any distant second best that we have been, make it 8 stars! The shrimp and crayfish porboy was large and tasted so good, man the seasoning on the fries was so good. The batter on the fish was amazing as well. The crawfish was cooked well and had great flavor. The only thing we noticed was they were a bit juicy--we think they may not have soaked in the boil as long, which usually helps absorb more flavor. My husband really enjoyed them (this trip was mostly for him!), but they were a little spicy for me. I ended up getting a Caesar salad with fried crawfish tails instead, and it was huge--I only made it through about half. We also got margaritas during happy hour--both were really good. I had the lychee margarita, and my husband got the mango with a Cajun rim. Service was very good--our waiter was attentive and friendly. The only small downside was that we did feel a little rushed. It does say on the menu that they ask guests not to stay longer than 1.5 hours, so just something to keep in mind. They are pet-friendly, and we sat outside. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the tables had umbrellas, which was nice. The only other thing we weren't thrilled about was the credit card surcharge--it was around 3-3.5%, which feels a bit high, especially since most people don't carry cash anymore. Overall, a great spot--especially if you're a crawfish fan!

The shrimp and flounder were nicely cooked without heavy breading. The hush puppies were weird. They were cooked but had almost a beer batter thick outside and the inside tasted almost like raw meal or flour. Tasted greasy but they were not visibly greasy. Since it's their namesake, one would think the hush puppies would be great. I couldn't eat them. The fries had batter on them. They were crispy. I prefer no batter on fries but for those who like that, you'd probably like them. Now the sauces: the tartar was too salty and was missing something that I couldn't figure out. The cocktail sauce was also too salty but did have a nice horseradish kick. There was something missing from it too that I couldn't put my finger on. Maybe it was just the salt overload messing it up. Overall the seafood itself was pretty good but the sides and sauces bring my review down.
