My first stop was the last hour of the viewing for Moss: Dialogues Between Art and Design, the auction would take place the next morning. I was pleasantly hopeful and validated that the experience felt very much like visiting a gallery. The time frame for the viewing was just a few days. Except, here you know the individuals lurking around may actually buy something, or anticipate on buying something at the actual auction. There is also a big glossy catalogue, but frankly, who needs to see a photo when you have access to the real thing? I wonder how many of those lurking individuals are direct buyers, collectors, and those that were sent by buyers and collectors. I was happy to see other folks snapping photos of the paintings, furniture, sculptures, chandeliers, and whatnot. They did not look like tourists, at least most of them. If anything they looked more like me, like someone who was just curious. Curious enough to snap some photos. Taking pictures is what I like to do. I really liked that it was a very casual atmosphere and I didn't feel awkward or out of place at all. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and smiley and welcoming when I told her that I've never been at an art auction before, is it free to the public? Sure, she said, come in and enjoy! Next stop would be the actual auction! Very exciting!

Had a very poor experience with this particular business. For starters, the address for the…read morelocation has not been updated on google since they moved. Secondly, they do not answer phone calls and you have to wait days just to communicate with them via email. Now for the more serious issues that occurred while I was at this business. Please be aware of the guy who assists at the studio, especially if you are a black woman. I'm not sure what his name is (probably Nick), but reading the other reviews, you can see that he is quite rude and I would like to add VIOLENT. While I was assisting a photographer and her client (two white women) at this studio, Nick entered the room and I could automatically tell that he was giving me a cold shoulder. Like everyone else, I'm just there to do my job, and so I asked Nick if I could assist him with setting up because he was taking his sweet time. He responded, I got it; and then forgot to bring out a couple of the items that we requested MULTIPLE times. He then disappeared when we needed the items. Looking for him, I accidentally opened his office door, and before I could even apologize, he charged at me screaming DON'T COME IN HERE and hit me very roughly/intentionally with the door. I'm not sure what this 40-50 something year old man's problem is, but its very clear to me that he needs to be fired and work on his social/customer service skills. It is also very clear to me that he is racist, or holds some negative thoughts about black people. Again, I felt it the moment I met him and it was clear in the way he treated me versus the white clients. As long as Nick is working at this place, I don't recommend it no matter how affordable it is. It's affordable because of all the things it lacks and you can find better quality places and services elsewhere for just a couple of dollars more.

I went to this small theatre to watch Buddha - Triumph & Tragedy. The play was written & performed…read moreby Evan Brenner. Unfortunately, my friend & I arrived about 15 minutes late, but a nice attendant escorted us to the showroom & found us 2 empty seats rather quickly. The theatre holds about 30 or so people. I love these small joints! There were a bunch of lights along the top of cieling, but a small ledge that would be considered the stage. This is a perfect spot for one-man shows, which this play was. I actually enjoyed the performance & was still able to totally get the story even though I was a bit late. Check it out @ thebuddhaplay.com. The basic metal seats were alligned in such a way that all would get a decent view of the performer & the room was neat & clean. There was an elevator to get you to the 3rd floor showroom & I was glad for it b/c the stairs were super steep. All in all, this is a cool little spot to watch a small, cozy performance.
