Cumim Lime Chicken, Lhasa Chowmein, and Yellow Rice (came with chicken)
    Suzanne B.

I love finding a new local gem, and Everest Sherpa is just such a place. Located in the Oak Valley shopping center, it's easy to miss if you don't know where to look. As you approach the entrance, a sign points the way to Everest Basecamp, a fun touch. We were promptly greeted and seated when we entered. The place is cozy but also has a modern feel to it. After perusing the menu - and so much of it looked good - we decided on the Cumin Lime chicken and the Lhasa Chowmein, with a side of garlic naan. Our friends got some pakora that they were kind enough to share with us, and I loved both of the sauces that came with it. Both dishes tasted amazing, the Cumin chicken had a little zip, the Chowmein was umami and excellent. Portions are generous, so we were glad when they offered us a take home box at the end. In a restaurant rut? Try out Everest Sherpa and you'll find your culinary adventures being elevated to new heights!

Lamb Butayko with onion, bell peppers and tomatoes in a to-go bowl.

They have the recipe for success. In a town like Ann Arbor where so many palates and flavor preferences come together, today I tasted what versatility and control of spices truly meant. Ordered for take out and arrived a little earlier than my order was expected just to take in the restaurant. As soon as I went in, I felt welcomed and was offered seating to wait. The wait wasn't very long, and the colors, decorations, and attention to detail in their organization was visible from their space to their plates. I ordered the Lamb Butayko which came in a higher beef to sauce ratio which I personally prefer. The veggies the ad a special taste and crunch which complemented the lamb perfectly. I ate a lot, but even so still had leftovers for the rest of the week to go along with their fantastic garlic naan. I will certainly be back, but just the fact that they've been around since 2017 speaks louder, and tastes even better!

Busy busy Saturday night at 5:55

Still would give this place six stars if I could. Have been visiting for 7 years and tend to visit at least once every two weeks if not more often for takeout. I tend to like their chicken curries the best- chicken makhani mild if you want something sweet and savory and creamy, and medium chicken makhani if you don't want it too sweet and you want some spice to balance. Their biryanis are good also with more flavor than many restaurants that offer more plain biryani. So they've kind of ruined biryani elsewhere for me. The one downside? If you go when they are busy such as Saturday evening, one hour before the televised football game, they will get your food ready later than expected. This is mainly because they have received 10 to 20 new orders simultaneously so I do not blame them for not being able to get your food ready at the promised 25 min until ready time. But for me, the wait is more than worth it. Just know that if you order when it is busy, which is usually Saturday night but can also include Thursday night or a random week night then you may have to wait an extra 10 to 20 minutes for your food but it will be of excellent and consistent quality and delicious!:)

    Chili Vegetable Momos

I was craving momos and decided to try Everest Sherpa--it did not disappoint! We ordered the vegetarian fried momos and chili momos, both of which were absolutely delicious. The fillings and flavors were spot on and completely satisfied my cravings. We also tried the Butayko and Lhasa Chowmein. While the Butayko was a bit too spicy for me, the Chowmein was fantastic, with noodles cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a nice open seating area with plenty of tables and colorful napkins, creating a charming and cozy vibe. Although we stuck to vegetarian dishes that evening, I was happy to learn they also serve halal meat--I'll definitely try that next time. I loved this spot and have already recommended it to everyone I know near Ann Arbor!

Cute restaurant in a strip mall. Service was nice. The chili chicken momo was really good, the sauce it was sautéed in was reminiscent of a gobi Manchurian style sauce. Coconut tofu curry was good and light. Prices were reasonable.

Went for lunch. It wasn't busy when we arrive, but got busy after we ordered. We had chicken chili momos, samosas and chicken poly something (like tandoori chicken but boneless) It was all delicious! Came out fast and hot. The servers were kind and smiled a lot. I would definitely go back and look forward to it. After dinner they gave me a Sherpa tea on the house. It was kinda like a chai tea, but way better. Reminded me of a sweet rife milk.

Everything was great! The staff was very friendly and the food was amazing! I love how they clearly mark the vegan options on the menu. We were so excited to try Himalayan food, so we ordered a lot and took half home. We got chili vegetable momos (you need to get these, amazing!), samosas, pan seared tofu dinner, and they were able to accommodate and make Butayko vegan, using tofu instead of paneer. To accompany the dishes, we got aloo paratha and garlic naan for my husband (not vegan). Everything was very flavorful and fresh. We will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Ordered to go on a Tuesday evening. Got food here for the first time and my mind is blown. I'm always cautios about eating from Indian restaurants since I have very little tolerance for spice. Everything we ordered was well on the true mild side and for the first time I enjoyed all the aromatic flavors. The steamed chicken momo was fantastic and I was pleasently surprised by the packed flavors from the vegetable pakora. I ordered the lamb biryani as well and it tasted amazing with the raita sauce. It would not be a complete meal without a mango lassi, which I can only say positive things about. Would recommend and will be returning in person next time to try more food items and get a full experience.

Still one of my top spots in Ann Arbor. The food is amazing. Service and employees are so kind and welcoming. Love the restaurant. My go to is the chicken tikka masala with some garlic naan. Delicious! Have gotten the momos several times (prefer the fried option). The lime chicken specialty dish is very tasty. Have also tried the stew and lo mein. Everything is good! I love the Sherpa tea as well. Get yourself a cup!

What Non-Veg items do they have for Lunch Buffet?

They tend to change it up. Noodle option, veggie Masala, sage paneer. Can’t go wrong!

Do they serve beer and wine now? I'd read that they do and it says they do on here but our server today said no.

Yes they do serve wine. Not sure about beer

Unfortunately, due to the rainy weather, they weren't offering the buffet that day. The three of us opted to order a la carte and squeezed into a comfortable booth. While glancing at the menu, I noticed entire pages dedicated to dosas, biriyanis, and Indo-Chinese dishes. In hindsight, we probably should've gotten at least one dish from each section, but we weren't really in the mood for dosas or the Indo-Chinese entrees at the time. GARLIC NAAN - 3.49 The garlic naan is a must-order. Each order comes with four quarter pieces, and I honestly could've eaten the entire basket myself. It's topped with plenty of minced garlic and is flavorful enough to enjoy on its own. PANEER TIKKA MASALA - 14.99 The tikka masala leaned heavily on the creamy side and was much less tomato-forward than I prefer -- savory with very little tomato sweetness. There were a few small pieces of tomato, onion, and possibly peppers, along with the paneer. While the paneer was good, there weren't many pieces overall. I enjoyed the dish, but I would've preferred a more tomato-based curry. VIJAYAWADA CHICKEN BIRYANI - 15.99 Highly recommended by our trusted source and echoed by multiple Yelp reviews, this was easily the star of our meal. The rice was fragrant and packed with aromatics, and the chicken was cut very small, almost minced. It was incredibly flavorful and unapologetically spiced, unlike many Indian restaurants in the area that tone things down for the American palette. This biryani did not hold back. While I generally prefer bite-sized chicken for the texture, I can see how the finely chopped chicken absorbs the spice better and distributes the flavor more evenly throughout the rice. That said, I do wish there had been more chicken overall so every bite included some. GOAT KORMA - 17.99 This was a pretty standard, nutty, creamy korma. Unfortunately, most of the goat pieces were very bony, with some pieces being straight up bone. I felt a bit cheated since this is a pricier entree. My friend has a much higher spice tolerance palette than his wife and me, so I only had a few bites before returning to milder dishes. Overall, this is probably the most spice-forward Indian restaurant I've been to in this area, and it genuinely felt like all of my taste buds were waking up with every bite. I highly recommend the Vijayawada Chicken Biryani, especially if you've never had it before, as it's not something I see often at Indian restaurants. The flavors are phenomenal, and next time I'll be back for a lassi, a dosa, and one of their Indo-Chinese dishes.

The egg masala is very good and their spice is on point (my "medium" was perfect. Love the option of the egg, and it came with 3 eggs in the sauce. Their garlic naan is very good, it's one big flatbread cut into two pieces. Nice flavor and the dough still has some bite to it -- not too soft or too crispy. I'd like to dine in sometime for a legit dosa experience -- the photos look awesome. :) Love this option is in our neighborhood, and they are super friendly. A great Indian spot on this side of Ann Arbor.

First of all beautiful place simple nothing super fancy very family style atmosphere. Secondly service was quick and pleasant came in on a Sunday evening. Most tables were full, which was surprising for the day of the week and the time which was around 6:30 PM. My husband and I couldn't decide between two starters so we got the samosas and the veg. I can't remember what they're called but they were amazing. Then I got the stew with lamb, a huge portion everything was cooked to perfection seasoned very well. I would definitely get medium next time because mild was full of flavor, but it was mild and I like a little spice. My got the lamb in a tomato and yogurt sauce absolutely amazing tasting the lamb was so soft so succulent and they did not skimp mango. Lassie tasted like they had blended it fresh before they brought it out cool smooth and delicious. My only knock on it was the Naha it was one piece cut in half and I thought it could've been rolled out a little thinner and cooked a little longer however, I will definitely be back again and again and again do not miss this place.
