This nursery is a great place if you are looking for flower and fruit plants. I've been here with my mom a few times, and she loves it!! I'm fairly new to taking care of plants and was on the hunt for some pothos since they are relatively easy to care for. However, there was as big of a selection as I had hoped. Nonetheless, I still went home with 2 adorable baby monsteras. My favorite thing about this establishment is how friendly and knowledgeable the workers are. I had a ton of questions as an amateur and they were super patient and helpful in explaining everything to me. read more

I haven't actually seen this place or purchased anything from here, but I did have a phone call with them. I asked them if they had any fragrant orchids in stock, to which they replied that they didn't. They could have left it at that, but instead they took the time to recommend me to four other nurseries in the Bay Area that would have what I was looking for. I really appreciate that they helped me out in this manner because I had some pretty subpar experiences with the past couple of nurseries that I've contacted. Customer service is on point here! I wasn't spending any money on their business and yet they still helped me. It's clear that they are passionate about their field and that they want you to have a pleasant experience with them. I'll be keeping Evergreen Nursery in mind the next time I'm in the area! :) read more

Things I enjoyed about this nursery: Very helpful staff. Plenty of parking. A nice selection of indoor plants. A wide variety of herbs. There were a couple empty tables of outdoor vegetables and fruits. One of the staff members explained to us that there's been a shortage lately because of changing suppliers and an increase in demand from customers. I loved that the indoor plant section had some very tiny yet sleek pots available. I'd been casually looking for smaller sized plants and pots for weeks. I left with an assortment of herbs and two tiny plants/pots. Very successful trip! read more

Great nursery to hit up when fulfilling your plant needs! They have a variety of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. The staff is helpful in answering your gardening questions. They even walked around the lot trying to find a specific tree for me. Don't be shy to ask them any garden questions because they are their to help. I will be visiting them again soon! read more

This is my local nursery so it is my go-to spot for plants and soil. During COVID-19, it is a great place to visit as 85% of their plants are outside. Their houseplants, some pots, and fertilizers are indoors as well as their two registers. Their vegetable and flower selection seems to be consistently understocked so that's they only negative. Their koi pond is a hit for my kids who always go straight there. They have an impressive fruit tree collection if that's your jam. Staff is very knowledgable and if they don't have an answer that is helpful, they will call on another member who can help. read more

I went in there not knowing what to purchase, so she asked me a few questions about my planter size and what was going to be planted. She showed me a few samples and what each soil was comprised of. Stopped by around 10am on a Saturday. First-time impression: well-stocked, light crowd, socially-distanced, knowledgeable staff! Woohoo. Love a great new plant nursery find! Was looking for an assortment of plants for my balcony and front door. Parking was a plenty. Plants were very reasonably priced for their size vs. other nurseries in the Bay. Staff looked to be replenishing while we were perusing. Plus! Staff was excellent. As soon as we walked in, we were approached by a staff member to help. Was brought here by a friend who thought I would like it. She was wrong. I LOVED it. Man this place is underrated! It's so peaceful and nice in here. We literally walked around for an hour just enjoying it. The day we came they had every plant I have ever wanted; calathea's, fig trees, palms, monstera's! So many plants, so little money! And also sun light lol It was the first nursery I visited and wasn't sure about whether pricing was fair yet since I'd only owned one plant then. Shop is small but had a lot to offer. Definitely had a larger succulent collection than anything else. Also really well priced pots! That surprised me since they tend to be pricy. I had been lusting over a a dracaena for a year and decided to buy it. Price of the plant and a cute little vase was around $25. The cashier was young and also super nice. I told her I was nervous since it was only my second plant. She said I could always call in to ask for help! When my pothos began to wither, I definitely cashed in on that. They asked me to text them photos so they could see. I didn't quite fix the issue since we couldn't figure out what it was but the fact that they were so available to help was really awesome. I've own a few more plants now but the ones I purchased from here have weathered my lack of knowledge the best. I hope to come back and find some more house plants in the future read more

I enjoy supporting local businesses and my most recent succulent hobby guided me to Evergreen Nursery. I always see it when I'm on Bart but never stopped by until recently. They have a pretty good selection of succulents, but most of the plants I have seen before or currently have. They were a bit pricy compared to other places that I've purchased the similar succulents they have offered. They have 2", 4" pots and even bigger. Some of the 2" succulents appeared healthy, others appeared dried out. They did have an assortment of clay pots outside in the back available that are budget friendly. read more

Beautiful nursery! Nicely decorated. They have everything you want here from in door flowers to out door flowers to plants to herbs and many more. Lots of hanging baskets, lots of herbs and vegetable plants, and many many of Japanese maples trees and bonsai trees. Huge selection of indoor plants and seeds. They also sell garden tools. One stop shop for all your garden need. Prices are very affordable. Staffs are friendly and very helpful. They come to you asking if you need help. They answer all questions you have in details. They also explain to the differences between one plant over another. Cashiers are nice as well. When lines are long, one lady thank use for waiting and said to us: "we have the most patient customers in the world." I got 2 small maple trees. Love to come here, and will come back again for more plants. read more

This is a long overdue but well founded review two years after Paul and Evergreen redid my back, front, and side yards, along with maintenance. Not only is Paul incredibly knowledgeable about plants for the area, he has a wonderful sense of color and fit, all the while incorporating my preferences. I got to the point that I'd simply ask him to plant what he thought would work best and I have been beyond delighted. He also educated me about the plants and their care. I've been to his workshops at the Nursery. They're always interesting and super helpful. The one on Japanese Maples helped me to prune mine on my own, and it worked! The plants thrive, I get numerous compliments from friends who visit. My next door neighbors, who've been there over 40 years, have said several times it's the best the landscaping has ever looked. The back yard feels like a Zen garden. I love just sitting and relaxing. Larry does a fabulous job with maintenance twice a month. Communication is great and I know everyone at Evergreen cares about making sure my plants are healthy and happy and that I receive excellent customer service. I've recommended Paul and Evergreen to several friends and neighbors. Our own little gem in San Leandro. read more

The two stars are for the one kind employee we met here and how he showed my wife, our two daughters and myself care and respect. To start off, this nursery is grossly overpriced for what it is offering. I'm sure they are looking to serve a particular type of customer and the rest are not welcome. If you are not posting the astronomical prices you best look elsewhere. In the outdoor section, my family and I were exploring and trying to discovering what they had to offer. We were not impressed. We looked around the inside and before we were going to go my wife asked a few questions trying to glean some positivity from the experience. A kind young man was patiently and knowledgeably answering her questions. At this point another representative from the store walked up to the group of us and began directly accosting my six year old daughter for touching the plants. She started out by pointing at my little one and saying, " Hey, don't touch the plants because you are going to get your fingers sticky or poked, and if you break something off of one of them I'm going to make your mom buy it." She goes on directly addressing my child with, " I saw you kicking pots outside, that's right, I'm keeping my eye on you." Without any word to my wife or myself she raises a cordless phone to her face and completely callously says to the person on the other end, "I'm sorry, I just had to talk to this kid that is terrorizing my store." Now, I don't know if she thought she was funny and trying to be tongue and cheek, but the cavalier way she handled this situation was completely inappropriate. It took everything in me to quietly walk my children out to the car without telling her off right there. With my impressionable little ones in the car I went back to address her. I actually think she thought i was going back in to apologize to her. I shared my thoughts with her and said if she ever has anything to say to a child that she should address the guardians. I hope with her response of apologizing that she grasps the error of her ways and will not treat anyone like this again. If anyone doubts the innocence of my child I would gladly introduce you so you can see what a loving, careful and respectful person she is. My wife, my 10 year old daughter and myself all teach her with love and determination how to be the best person she can be. This characterization made of her could not be further from the truth. Each time I go there I'm more impressed by their selection, prices, and the quality of plants. Their prices are comparable to , or better than, Home Depot's prices, and they have better quality plants as well as varieties you can't find in other nurseries in the east bay. read more

Had a bit of time to kill while we waited for the dog to get groomed so I brought my parents here. It's a beautiful and well maintained nursery and the staff is all super friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are a bit higher but they have plants here that you'll not see at Home Depot. My parents have several fruit trees that are causing them some problems and the staff here was able to recommend solutions / advice. Will definitely visit again and support this local business! read more

I've been back because I believe in supporting local businesses. My experiences continue to be mixed. I bought two pluot trees in the fall of 2015 which have done well and provided three summers of fruit; the pluots smell like perfume and taste amazing! This spring I also bought 14 "snapdragon" plants for a lawn border. I proudly showed a gardening colleague a picture a few weeks after I planted them and she informed me they weren't snapdragons. I assured here they were and showed her a picture of the label that came with the plants with care instructions. She told me to look up what a snapdragon looked like and said they were primroses. Well I'll be... they were primroses. I guess that explains why they weren't doing well when given the care that snapdragons like. Turns out the spot they were planted in isn't good for primroses. I suppose I could dig them up and take them back but I no longer had the receipts or the little plastic pots and it's a rare treat for me to get to the nursery these days. Argh! This quarantine got me doing things I normally don't do. My husband is usually the one with the green thumb but I've been going out of my comfort zone trying to tend to some of our plant babies and I am hooked. Today, he brought me here and got me some mint, rosemary, and potted flowers (not exactly sure what they are but are really cute and look like daisies, but didn't say daisies on their little card thing). I was pretty surprised at their selection at 2:30pm - with new inventory still being brought out rather than recovery since they were getting close to closing hours. I like the pond in the middle of the nursery, when quarantine is lifted... I'm sure you'll find me there waiting for my husband to finish his shopping. I got a couple of mantis eggs... can't wait for those little guys to hatch. I'll be back to pick up some lady bugs. read more

Decent stuff. Horribly overpriced. $52 for a hydrangea? $38 for a calla lily? $25 for small pot of feather grass? Stupid expensive. I'm all for patronizing local businesses which is why I checked them out and I'm even willing to spend a little more to support the little guy but when you charge double the chain store one mile away for the same inventory don't complain when people on a budget shop there instead. Plant selection is somewhat small but that is expected for the winter. They have a somewhat larger selection of house plants which I loved! Many different varieties than what is usually at other nurseries. I did buy a Hindu rope plant that had bugs in it. Found out when I watered it right when I got home. It left dark spots on it but it looked fine when I picked up up. Boo. Good selection of pots. Ample parking. read more

I have found this nursery on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. They have an incredible varieties of fruits & veggies seedlings. I used to buy mine at Navlets. 6-pack for $3.99 but recently Navlets has been purchased by Sloats and they have nothing except 200+ tomatoes. Plus they charge $5.99 for a 6-pack. This nursery is little far away but I made the drive and I'm so happy I did. They offer discount if you buy more than 10 seedlings. I believe it was $3.65 for each 6-pack. They also have 10% off on Yelp but I forgot to take my phone in and show it to the cashier. Next time... They have incredible varieties of seedlings I have never even seen. I already had 7 tomato plants and purchased another 4 yesterday. So many different types of tomatoes, lettuce, eggplants, herbs and peppers. I bought 30+ seedlings and planted them in right away. I'm excited to see what each plant brings us. The staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this place and will shop only here from now on. read more

Update: Still conflicted about this place. The succulents, no matter what the season, are usually trashed and either sunburnt or dying (unless new stock). Out of curiosity, I took one of the half-dead specimens up to the counter to ask what a discount on it would be (as it would need months of rehabilitation before it would ever look halfway decent), and got a healthy scoff and a "we could do 10%" from the clerk. (no thanks) Aside from that though, the folks there are nice and helpful, and most of the other stock seems in decent shape (just avoid the succulents! They're expensive AND poorly maintained, bad combo). Solid 3 stars, because when I need other types of plants I love it there, but when I'm looking for succulents I get angry and think "NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN." read more

So knowledgeable and such great customer service. Definitely recommend this place to those who don't have a green thumb like me! I stopped by today for two things: (1) My husband's money tree wasn't doing well so I brought it in to see if something could be done to help resuscitate it, and (2) I had a particular plant I wanted to buy and a picture but no name. As soon as I showed the money tree to the cashier, she said "Oh that's dead. Looks like it's been dead a long time." Good thing she told me because me and my black thumb wouldn't have known otherwise! They unfortunately were out of money trees so I couldn't replace it. I showed her a picture of the leafy plant that I wanted and she was able to immediately call out the name then point me out to the 4 they had in the nursery. I was super impressed by how knowledgeable she was. I grabbed a couple of plants and cute red pots and asked if they could repot them for me. They gladly provided the service at no extra charge! So awesome because I'm not a fan of dealing with uprooting plants given my propensity to kill them accidentally. Came home with two new plants and couldn't be happier! Will have to go back to replace the money tree but overall was very happy with my experience at Evergreen Nursery. read more

They have a huge selection of beautiful, reasonably priced plants and pots to mix and match. The staff were really helpful. I got a glazed ceramic 6" planter, a small peperomia, some basil to grow in my kitchen, a couple of 2" succulents, cactus soil, and pebbles for drainage, all for $60. I'm very glad this place is close to me - I'll be back! read more
