Fantastic healthy grocery store.. Super friendly staff. All my favorite vegan treats, great produce section, and the bulk section to get stoked about. Super clean store. Staff always helps with a smile and will even help you with your groceries out to the car. For a small town, this place is a major luxury. Much like the great Co-ops in Iowa City and Ames.. Reminds me a lot of them.. They even have a great restaurant in the back with outdoor patio seating I suggest the vegan burrito bowl! read more

mask up for sure! ok kinda weird trip to Fairfield almost 70 bucks for a 1/2 full bag.... only one glass jar that i needed for a home project.. that bulk spice jar thing. and the price was good... bulk bins were full.... i did try an exotic toffee coated pistachio covered with chocolate... 25.00 per LB no kidding! and were a total meh..... it had an off taste..... same on the chocolate covered coconut balls..... looked nice.... no coconut flavor.... and super hard coconut.... they did have fresh prisad incense ... and ok price on that as well. good price on amy's dahl soup. i need to get in prime time to try the deli next door. they were closed... 2:30 pm friday read more

I have mixed feelings about Everybodys'. It is amazing to find a great selection of health foods in such a rural community, but the prices are absolutely crazy high. It seems that it would pay to make a trip to Iowa City occassionally to stock up on items. The staff is never very friendly and all seem to just doing a job, not focusing on customer service. I am accustomed to the really help, courteous staff of a Trader Joe's. I would run in if I needed something on short notice, but otherwise, I would point my car North. read more

This place is a mixed bag; $5 organic chocolate bars, but I can get the organic soft serve machine treats for less than $2? I love that I was able to buy a big bag of cheddar cheese curds for $5, but a 16oz container of hummus was nearly $11!?! So, as one can see from above, I shop for quality & still want good bargains. This is an interesting place that will never be short of patrons because of its community involvement, dedication to Ayurvedic supplements & high quality locally sourced organic produce. I'll return, I just have to check the price tag & added sugar content on the label. Oh, there's 3 outdoor covered seating areas if my memory serves...well, at least 2 for sure. They have planters filled with beautiful flowers that were buzzing with life, so that's always nice, too :) read more

It's really cool that such a small town had a whole foods store. They have a lot of great options and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, the prices are a little steep and you can organic food at Hyvee in their health market for a cheaper price. read more

My favorite purchases today were the Brown Cow Yogurt - perfection, and the Ginger Crystal Tea - reminds me of my 3 weeks in Nepal where it was offered daily. This is my favorite grocery store in Iowa, slightly ahead of Pioneer Co-Op in Iowa City. I grew up in the area but have lived in San Diego for most of my life--when I come back, Fairfield is where I like to stay, because it is more tolerant of difference and less hard luck and rough economically and socially than much of what surrounds it. It's a beautiful town that has preserved much of its historical character, and this grocery store makes it even more special. It makes it possible to get healthy, excellent, locally grown vegetables and fruit and other locally made products and many specialty ingredients that allow you to make fantastic Indian and other international foods. When I think of my immuno-compromised cancer survivor Dad having to dodge almost everyone in Iowa not wearing masks, I love that this store has a sign on the front saying you have to wear one and they will give you one if you do not have one but do not come in without one. Thanks for helping preserve my 81 year old dad's life. It's a lovely place with many lovely things to create memorable meals, and nice young people at the checkout stands and insisting on helping older people out with their groceries. I feel happy every time I go there. read more

I am so torn with this review because all of the times I have been here, I have had vastly different experiences. Let me just list pro's vs. con's PRO'S: Amazing spice, tea, and grain selection. Also, you can get as little or as much of a spice as you like. The spices are mostly organic, and you also have many different nuts, trail mixes, berries and other natural treats to splurge on at a range of prices. Awesome beverage selection. Cold, health, dairy, non dairy, etc. Wonderful treats - cookies all year, amazing Christmas treats, organic ice cream with nonorganic caramel and or fudge in the summer - just to name a few. On site restaurant. Slash cafe. Don't know how it is because it was never open. :-( Amazing organic selections. Awesome monthly deals. CON'S: Unreasonably expensive prices on many items. Acai juice (33.8oz) was $9. Double the cost of competitors (Walmart). Don't make me shop at Walmart by price gouging, Everybody's. Strawberries were $9.50. WTF. Unreasonable. Cheese was at least $5, for a small bag. Uuuggh. Et cetera... just watch out, there are plenty of deals there, just avoid the stupidly expensive items... Really bad customers. Like, having intense deep discussion in the doorway while I'm wearing my baby and caring 5 gallons of water out, trying to get by, oblivious customers. Customers who roll through the parking lot at 25 mph bad. Customers who literally slow shanty across the walkway while you wait in your car. Customers who back up into pedestrians because they are in space. Dangerously unaware, oblivious, space cadet, a**hole customers. Kind of, like, obnoxious, and condescending employees. I brought my own bag most of the time but got a scowl every time I didnt. I was not allowed to walk out the cart and bring it back, even though I shopped there almost every day. I was ignored by many a cashier while wearing baby and carrying a large number of groceries and or water gallons. Something amazing is always out. Whether it's fresh mozzarella or ginger beer, good belly drinks, cheese or eggs, your fave chips or dip, avocados or grapes, or an amazing soup. Something is always out of stock, a lot. -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- So that's it. Some great things, some not so great things. Really torn. I love this place - but it totally sucks sometimes. read more

The Good: great, friendly staff!! And for being in the middle of nowhere Iowa it's nice to have access to a natural food store. In the summer you can get the best soft serve ice cream you'll ever have. The Bad: terribly over-priced (more expensive than Whole Foods). Don't have beer, wine, beef or pork. If you want some organic beer you can find it at the Hy-Vee, and if you want some natural, high quality meat products you need to hook up with some local farmers. It's disappointing that the store's inventory is limited by the Maharishi ideology. The Really Bad: for some reason the entrance and produce section smells like a sewer. I think this is due to some plumbing issues - sometimes the smell is horrible. UPDATE: new building/plumbing upgrades have eliminated the random sewer smell issue. read more

Great selection, friendly staff and always a bunch of items on sale. They have a limited selection of to-go items that you can take and eat in the outdoor dining areas on raised decks which is pretty cool. Plus there's a cafe/lunch place in the back with some great young staff and decent food at very reasonable prices. read more

It' a wonderful store with a large variety of fresh produce and organic foods. The store is very bright and well laid out and the staff is very helpful. There's also a nice coffee shop restaurant on-premises that has yummy freshly made meals that vary from day to day. There are many vegan and vegetarian options. They carry locally grown produce and they have the wonderful Radiance dairy organic milk products including soft serve ice cream. The bulk food aisle is the largest in the area. On my first visit to Fairfield, in 1996, I inquired about health food stores. I was informed that Everybody's was the place to go. They were right! I found everything I needed and discovered some new, interesting, good choices. After moving here as a permanent resident in 2000, I found that they will order what they don't have, upon request. They also deliver to residents in town. They have a first class, organic restaurant, a great Sunday brunch, and quality products and service. They earned their great reputation by listening to their customers and offering the best of everything. read more

I was in the restaurant yesterday and there is a requirement for people to wear masks in the store and the restaurant. The cook and another employee did not have masks or any other protection on. I was amazed as this is the person who could possibly infect the food. I did ask why and was told it was hot in the the kitchen. Not a good reason if every customer and the staff must wear a mask. I did report this to the Jefferson County Health Inspector. read more

So, I move back to the Midwest after being gone for almost 30 years...the influences of the Maharishi hadn't quite gone full swing back then...oh, where did I move to--you ask? 15 minutes outside of Boulder, Colorado. ;) You want the truth? I'm a Midwest girl, but consider Colorado my home...hence, I could live in that store!! I was nearly in tears as I stepped inside. It felt like I was home again. It's a wonderful store to get the "necessities" that HyVee can't always provide. The produce looked great, and as opposed to the 3 bunches of kale that I MIGHT find at Wal-Mart or HyVee, this store had a heaping bunch. Yay! All around, a nice selection. I realize that I'm lying it on thick, but it's the culture shock talking. And to be realistic, yes, your dollar won't go nearly as far here as it would in the other markets, but, nonetheless, I'm excited to still have what feels like a little piece of home within driving distance. read more

this place rocks! it was started by a few guys who worked at the original co-op in fairfield (now closed). they have the best selection of bulk in town and of course organic and local produce. their prices are a bit high and selection low, but i guess thats visiting iowa in the winter. the cafeteria is pretty good, too. wholesome food. good dahl. and the food is super freakin cheap by the pound. lots of parking as well. and FANTASTIC mango ice cream in the summertime (NO RGBH!!). read more

The produce selection here is great compared to similar-sized health food stores. They also carry a lot of local-sourced food as well, which is always great. Go to Everybody's if you don't want to stand in line at the check out. If you are second in line they will call someone up to help. Great selection for a very small town. Generous owners who support all sorts of kids programs and also community theater. If you call you are very likely to get an owner answering the phone and one is almost always available at all times. Overpriced. Shop in any large city whole foods or even Safeway or Kroger and you'll find better prices. We shop, whenever possible at other stores, which are carrying more and more organic foods. In a word, flag this store infected with "green greed". And yes, it isn't just this 'specialty grocery'. This is true across the whole spectrum of food producers who've jumped on the green wagon. The good news is, as more mainstream groceries carry more organic foods, and more locally grown food, stores like this -- and there are lots of them -- will be forced to drop their inflated prices or loose business. Sustainable, not! This store, like most in the genre, carry all the usual gimmick canned and processed 'healthy' junk foods. In brief -- a small town version of Whole Foods, that costs even more. This store no doubt continues because it is location convenient for locals. The good stuff? Well, friendly people; they hire locals; they carry some of the exotic spice sand herbs we like (but at a price). The future -- we hope -- will see much more CSA (community supported agriculture), as we're seeing in California and much less of this brand of yuppie price-gouging. Send a message: shop somewhere else, support your local CSA's and get even healthier. read more

Great selection of organic and specialty foods for a small town. However, many items are marked up aggressively. The owners are also wonderful individuals that helped many people and projects in our community, so the money is going to good places. Watch out when driving in the parking lot. The lines are drawn awkwardly and the customer base has been meditating for many hours resulting in sub-par spacial awareness. read more

I love this place, prices are lower than Hy Vee's organic fare, and the produce is so much better. The latest store renovations are wonderful. I go here all the time, and the Sunday brunch is cheap and great. read more
