As follow up to an earlier review (last week), I am writing this to retract my poor rating. The company has immediately followed up with phone calls and a diagnosis of our roof problem! Emily and the crew who arrived were excellent in every way! They spent 2 hours examining the roofing and identified the problem - not on the roof but the siding of the house. We sought out multiple bids for a re-roof on our 25 year old home. Excel provided a bid that was substantially less than all of the competitors. Wondering if it was too good to be true, we checked with two prior customers on recent roof jobs - one who is a neighbor and the other provided to me by Excel. Both were very satisfied with the job Excel did on their homes. The Excel crew worked 4 days on our job which involved a house with a number of different rooflines, replacing 4 skylights, and identification of vulnerable spots around the chimney resulting in a "cricket repair." They removed old attic vents and installed ridge vents, removed Direct TV satellite, etc. The crew showed up before 7:30 am and worked til sunset each day. They were tidy, securing ladders and equipment in a safe area at the end of each day. They did a good sweep on the final day for nails and debris. They brought blowers to blow out gutters, beds and walkways etc to ensure all shingle grit and nails were removed. The job is so recent that we haven't had a chance to experience the usual deluge of Eastern NC rainfall yet, but I'm confident the job was solid. If there are any problems, the insurance policy Excel provides with their contract would no doubt resolve any issues. We also opted for additonal, transferrable extended warranty coverage through Certainteed, the brand used by Excel. As far as the company is concerned, I worked directly with Christine Brehm to coordinate roof inspection and bidding last March. We went back and forth a few times over the months, but we opted to wait until after hurricane season to do the job. At all times in my dealings with her, Christine has been responsive, reasonable and professional in every respect. For example, she automatically lowered pricing for replacement skylights upon learning one was smaller than the other three. She also made compensation for a few minor issues coming from a big job - a dented downspout was replaced, and one bush that was damaged will be replaced in the spring. She provided me with her personal cell in case any issues arose during the job itself. When 2 sheets of plyboard were replaced without prior notification to us ( as is the practice with Excel during roofing projects to document and notify), she made adjustments to pricing to our satisfaction. In our view, this is a gold standard for customer satisfaction. As satisfied customers, we highly recommend Excel. read more

I called Excel Roofing and made an appt for 5 PM a few days later based on these good reviews. No One Showed! I made the appt for 5PM and had to leave work early. I called at 5:30 and asked where they were. Sady answered and said he would stop by later - I said don't bother. I do not want to spend a lot of money with a company that can't meet the first appointment? What does that say about the work they would do? No customer service. If they had called and said they were running late or suggested another time -I would have been fine. But now - I will use someone else. read more

I worked remotely with Kirk at Excel Roofing, by phone and email, to receive information, quotes, and accept their proposal/contract. Within a few days of our initial conversation, I was provided multiple roofing material options, detailed quotes, competitive prices, and prompt/thorough responses to all my questions. I was able to choose the right option for our needs. The final contract was for removal of old roofing, inspection and replacement of any damaged sheeting and installation of a new architectural shingle roof. They came when they said they would, finished as scheduled, billed as quoted, and provided pictures of the repairs they made. The neighbors were very impressed with the speed and cleanup by the crew and they plan to call for a quote for their roof.
