Again, slipshod manicure, the pedicure was worse. No cleaning or filing, only quick clipping.
    T J.

Feeling a bit scammed on the $20 mani/pedi. Seem like nice Vietnamese ladies, friendly. But my first hint something was amiss was the fact they don't use liners in their soak tubs (isn't that illegal?). The lady cut my toenails, pushed back the cuticles quickly, rubbed my legs and feet after a half minute lightly sanding off foot skin, then "do you want manicure too?" I had already committed to a manicure so she started doing that. Same thing, rushed and clipped a couple nails that weren't already short. Oiled up the hands and she was done. I was looking at my toes and realized she had clipped them all but never filed them (the major reason I pay someone to work on my nails). They both mumbled something about "too short, would be bloody" - which was odd since she cut them back herself and I've had this done hundreds of times without any issue of blood. She also left my fingers in the same state they were in and refused to perform what I paid for. A (white) lady came in about the same time as me and she was getting filing and other work still on her feet long after she had finished up everything on me. They were holding files and her nails weren't any shorter than mine. So basically they got lazy with a guy and figured their charm would make up for lack of service? $20 would have bought a lot of emery boards. Anyway, not in the mood to argue, each it up to being a rip-off or maybe just clueless and extremely inconsistent. But now that I look at what she did I'm going to have to pull off the nail polish and file these down. Want something done right you gotta do it yourself, I guess. At least when applied to places like this. $20 education, learned.

    Price guide as of 3/1/15

The sisters are nice and do a great job. I'm now a repeat customer. I love the selection of nail polish and they keep the spa for pedicures covered wen not in use. The prices are great and for the price of a normal pedicure in most places are $20 as their price is $15. It's always clean and even on hot days their place is cool. Hope they can get frequent buyer cards here. It would help their business.

It's a good place to get mani-pedi and hair cut!!! You get good service and Sandy is really good at her job.. It's a not very expensive place with same quality of services..

"Awesome" job blowdrying my hair *_* thank you for making me look like I got electrocuted.

No, no, no, no, no.... What are you people even thinking? This place is a nightmare. I lagged in writing this review but I came here a few weeks ago before I had a dinner date. I wanted to get a blow-out. For those of you (including the "hairstylists" at this salon), who do not know what a blow-out is, it is a very simple process whereby the person takes a round brush and uses a blow dryer to blow-dry the hair straight. For your convenience, I even took the liberty of finding a video tutorial on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq73SMEmyxA I recommend starting the video at about 1:50 so you can witness the technique in action! Anyways, I came in at 3 PM and asked if someone can take me at 4:30 for a blow-out because I had just come from the gym and wanted to go home and shower first and then come back. I live nearby so I only came here out of convenience and judging by the great reviews, I thought I might as well give it a shot. I also told her that my hair is curly but after years of straightening and blow-drying, it actually blow dries very very easily (I just have not mastered the brush technique on my own, especially the back hard to reach hair). One of the women told me "yes, no problem, come back at 4:30." And so I went home, showered, washed my hair, and arrived back at the salon at 4:15. I expected a 15 minute wait time, maybe 20 at the longest. I ended up waiting 45 minutes before she finally took me. I explained to her that I am in a rush and that I just want my hair blow-dried straight. She started blow-drying my hair with her FINGERS and then used a FLAT BRUSH. Anyone that has ever gotten a blow-out knows that you need to use a ROUND BRUSH to get the hair straight. About 5 minutes into it, she asks me if she can take a different client and finish my hair after him. I was not only taken aback, but actually offended because I am a paying customer, I made an appointment, I told you I'm in a rush, and I waited patiently so no, you cannot take another person before me so I wait another 45 minutes at minimum. She proceeds to dry my hair with a flat brush and it's just getting frizzier and frizzier. I ask her to use a round brush and she tells me (and I quote) that she "doesn't know what I'm asking her to do." You are a hair-stylist. This is your line of work. How do you not know how to blow-dry hair? And when I came in earlier that day to confirm whether or not you know how to blow-dry hair, you said that yes, you do. Don't lie about it! After unsuccessfully blow-drying my hair to look like I got electrocuted, she could tell that I was getting annoyed and told me that her sister would take me after she finished up a pedicure. I again explained that I am in a rush because I have dinner plans. I was not expecting to spend 2 hours there when my hair takes 30-40 min to blow-dry by a professional. At the end of it all, she told me she does not know what I want her to do and that she cannot and will not finish my hair. She let me walk out of the salon with my hair looking like I stuck my finger in a socket and got electrocuted!!!! After wasting 2 hours here, I ended up going home, washing my hair, and just wearing it curly because at that point I had no time to fix what she had done. Though I did not waste a penny on this "professional" hair service, that is two hours that I cannot get back unfortunately.

Sometimes there is a barking dog in the salon, and most of the time the place feels dirty and not particularly well-maintained. My most recent visit will definitely be my last. I stopped in for a walk-in pedicure and asked the man at the front if they had time. He said yes and directed me to a chair. After I sat down and he started filling the foot bath, two customers with appointments walked in. Shortly after that, another walk-in came in, and he turned her away. It was obvious he was annoyed that he had accepted me before realizing his scheduled clients had arrived. He rushed through my pedicure from start to finish. I actually don't mind a shorter massage, so that wasn't my main concern. What bothered me was the quality of the service. He applied only one coat of polish--no base coat and no top coat--and then immediately moved on to the next customer. Once my nails were dry, they told me I was ready to leave and charged me full price for what felt like a rushed, incomplete pedicure. I paid full price, but definitely did not receive a full service. I won't be returning, and based on my experiences, I can't recommend Q Nails.

No refund, no solution, and deeply unprofessional behavior. *~~ Service Overview & Pricing I booked a same-day appointment that the owner accepted. I requested: * #108 Gelixir purple gel polish + acrylic fill manicure * #108 Gelixir purple regular polish + basic pedicure The owner upsold heavily throughout. I even let her do extra work on my pinkies to build rapport. Total: $81 Tip: $15 (tipped before the service was completed) She opened the shop ~5 min late despite accepting my 9:30 AM appointment, & complained aloud, setting the tone for our session. *~~ Where Everything Went Wrong 1. First Mistake Toe spacers were applied after polishing but before the paint was dry, immediately smudging the big toe. 2. Second Attempt They only partially removed the polish to "fix" it. Because the initial coats weren't fully removed, the application was thick and uneven. After 40 minutes of "drying," the nail dented and the texture caught the lip of my shoe, scratching again. I told them I still had time if they wanted to properly redo it. 3. Third Attempt A kind staff member accidentally damaged the other big toe while helping me into disposable sandals. At this point, my toes had been ruined three separate times--all due to staff actions. *~~ The Owner's Response When I asked if they could use gel on the big toes (since the mistakes were theirs), the owner refused and claimed: 1. The colors "wouldn't match." 2. Gel and regular polish can't match--despite the Gelixir palette offering both and my manicure proving otherwise. 3. That because I chose regular polish, the outcome was my fault. She repeated this many times. 4. That regular polish takes "hours to dry in cold weather," something she never mentioned and is simply not true. By then I had been there from 9:30 AM to 12:20 PM, and the pedicure was the first service we started. *~~ Escalation & Unprofessional Conduct When I calmly asked for a reasonable fix (or at least accountability for my time), the owner became rude, defensive, and dismissive. She offered: * No refund * No partial refund * No refund of my tip * No solution She repeatedly told me I could "leave if I didn't like it" while her staff was trying to help me with bare toes. Instead of accountability, she lectured me with constant "you" statements and kept shifting blame. I stayed polite and attempted to de-escalate, but she kept escalating. My friend who was with me also felt the owner was short, judgmental, and rude from the beginning. As a Filipina, I'm familiar with cultural bluntness--this wasn't bluntness. This was aggressiveness and unprofessionalism. *~~ Service Quality & Safety Concerns * They used a pumice scrubber on my inner ankle bone, leaving raw skin and micro-cuts. * The owner drilled harshly on the sides and cuticle area during my fill, causing irritation and cuts. When I said "ow," she told me I "needed lotion." (I regularly moisturize; the issue was her technique.) * During upselling for designs/gems, she asked about two fingers. When I agreed, she worked on the wrong fingers, insisted I said "all," and did the same thing to my friend. * Despite her picking my friend's shade, she acted annoyed when we asked to see it on one toe. Odd behavior throughout--there's truly no winning with her. *~~ Final Thoughts Based on quality alone, this could have been a 2-star experience. But the owner's behavior makes it a 0-star experience. Earlier, she told me her business struggles with retention but has some regulars. Now I understand why. The recurring reviews about poor customer service suddenly make complete sense. Even her responses to negative reviews show the same pattern--confrontational, defensive, and unwilling to take responsibility. It's impossible to relax when the owner is hostile, unaccountable, and provides no customer care. This was my first time going (only to accommodate my friend's work schedule) because in theory the 9:30 AM start time is competitive. But honestly, you're better off walking one minute over to Winchester Nails, which is actually my regular spot. I'll never cheat on them again.

Consequently, I had shown the nail tech my last manicure and asked him to recreate these very basic neutral medium length almond nails. I asked him for advice regarding what nail extension technique would achieve the look. We debated a bit. I know a lot about nails because I used to have a nail business in LA. I made a choice amongst the techniques and he insisted on another and proceeded with that, insisting I wait and see. He refused my feedback along the process as I watched him make big mistakes like cut the nails way too short, shape each nail unevenly, and taking shapes way too off to one side and yet kept telling me to wait and see. Well, too late now it's done and anyone in their right mind would see this is a garbage job in addition to being nothing that I asked for except for the color of the polish. See what they gave me compared to my previous mani and how much they differ. Nails sit lifted on some nail beds and straighter on others, but unevenly distributed gel. They're just all over the place. A salon is only as good as it's consistency. I do not recommend.
