Reason for review: Lack of Communication on Allianz's part…read more We own several Allianz annuities and decided to annuitize (receive payments from) three of them. I completed the paperwork with my financial adviser to have 15% withheld for income tax purposed. Apparently, there was something on the form that was not completed (not the % to withhold) correctly or omitted. Rather than contact me or my financial advisor to verify, they went ahead and issued all three checks without withholding the any taxes. Now I'm stuck straightening this out when I do my taxes. For the amount of money we have with Allianz, I would have hoped for a little better service. We thought we were a valued customers, but apparently not.

In August 2023 my step-father went into a memory care facility and the price was unbelievably high. He had a RiverSource long-term care policy...so we immediately started reading online reviews. It wasn't pretty. We were expecting the absolute worst from them based on what people had written. It is now over nine months later and RiverSource has been the exact opposite of what I had read in so many reviews. They answer their phone when I call. They help with anything I don't understand. They give clear explanations of their claim processes. They have paid every single dollar we have expected...never paying late. They didn't try to delay or or deny. Quite the opposite in fact. I couldn't be more glad to give them a great rating. RiverSource has been absolutely awesome. I say this having spoken with their customer service many times...and mailing/faxing forms. RiverSource has processes that must be followed...and the processes are very reasonable. Not once have I had the slightest problem...and they have consistently paid every monthly invoice for the memory care facility. I have called 3 times to change my address and have no idea what has happened. I called today asking when and where my 1099-R is being sent and got different answers. then they get upset if you yell at them. then I was told my account was closed??!!?? I have years of payments left. I'm writing a snail mail to VP of Customer Service. after that I take it up with state insurance department. don't do any business with them.
