This "tour" was no different, perhaps even worse than the rest. Honestly the tram did not go further than I could have walked myself, but it did save me from any uphill walks in this hilly city. It also did not take me anywhere that I could not have gone on the "regular" tram which is much cheaper, however I did note that those trams got really jam packed whereas on this tram I always had a seat. The ticket is good for 24 hours and allows you to ride the tram as many times as you like, as well as gives you free access to other modes of public transportation in the city. Personally I definitely did not get 20 EUR worth of valley as I only got off at two stops and on the way back there was a broken down trolley that forced us to all get off and walk the rest of the way, however I did appreciate always having a seat and not having to jam myself onto the public tram.

Spend more time waiting for a bus than the actually on the bus. Waited over an hour this morning…read more(every 30 minutes my ass) then almost another waiting to get back on. Been on many hop in hop off tours before that come every 20 minutes and actually come. I dont think they have many busses. Will see how tomorrow goes, don't have high hopes

First of all, I highly recommend that you ask for Tina as your tour guide. She is so knowledgeable, energetic and kind. You can feel her passion and excitement around Sintra for the entirety of the tour. She also knows the best places to stop and take photos -- Ones that seemed to in the middle of no where but had the best views, I was shocked she was able to find them in the first place! This tour company is also really cool because it drives you around in one of those top-down electric Jeeps. It was a great way to travel a far distance (Sintra is large and hilly!) but to be able to see every single sight. Tina also was able to recommend which spots she thought we should go into to check out and which were better from the outside, so be sure to ask her about that too! When you choose to go into a place, she does not take that time off of your tour with her. Instead, she will leave for a while (i.e. an hour while you tour a space) and then come back to get you and continue your tour together. I recommend at least the two hour tour. Sintra is much bigger than one would think and so many beautiful sights -- You will not want to miss it!

Before we departed he bought us espressos that we drank together at the counter like locals. We visited two beautiful vineyards/wineries with tastings of a nice variety of red and white (and one "green"!) wines. Our guides were knowledgeable and friendly. We also stopped into Óbidos for a little stroll and lunch. He bought us some traditional chorizo bread on a little whim. Lunch had a nice atmosphere and good service, but the prices were drastically higher than other places we ate on our trip, and the food was a bit plain. This was only a small blemish on an otherwise outstanding day. We would gladly rebook something with Armando on a return visit!

Interesting Cram Course In Lisbon's Jewish History…read more... With 3 full days to explore Lisbon, we started with a 3 1/2 hour tour on the first afternoon focusing on the Jewish history of the city. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - We met our guide, Daniel, in the Principe Real section of Lisbon and walked a couple miles toward the Baixa and Chiado neighborhoods. He was more knowledgeable than an encyclopedia...as personable as an entertainer and tied lots of historical loose ends together. - Daniel included many of his own personal views which, depending on your outlook, could add or subtract from the experience. For us, it cut both ways. - All in all, a comprehensive and, at times, intense yet enjoyable 3 1/2 hour walking tour with insight into the Jewish past of Lisbon and Europe at large. - Price seemed reasonable.....100 Euros per person. Cons: - As noted above, Daniel included many of his own personal views which, depending on your outlook, could add or subtract from the experience. For us, it cut both ways. - There was quite a bit of walking up and down hills on cobblestone streets, but it's Lisbon, of course...so that's something to keep in mind. After spending the better part of the day with him, we had a dramatically better understanding of the Jewish people's contributions to Portuguese (and Spanish) society over the past 700 years, as well as what life has been like for Jews living on the Iberian Peninsula from the 15th Century through the present. Paolo went above and beyond what we expected, and was also delightful to spend time with. We ended our time with him feeling as though we had spent the day with a great teacher and a friend.
