He said I needed to move out .. have an estate sale .. paint and go modern .. ..gave me a name of a big time lady from northern Va. .. she came to my house and raved about all my furniture, paintings , clocks , etc .. she put it on schedule .. cancelled 2 dates then turned it over to someone else in Richmond, who absolutely robbed me .. John never oversaw the estate sale , took a 9,000 square foot house of Georgian style furniture, Grand Piano , beautiful custom made rugs , Grandfather Clocks , Dining Room , 4 Bedrooms of very nice quality furniture? lamps and paintings, Den, Living Room , Tea Parlor , Beautiful Large Antique Entrance Foyer.Furniture .Silver , China , Paintings ., so much more .. i had no idea it was going to be a huge flea market .. I was told to stay away during the sale .. everyone was so excited it went well they said .. His designer was thrilled ., John too .. well when the check came in the mail .. it devastated me .. I still am sick beyond measure .. Heartbroken .. I am sick , how could I be such a fool to trust this man ., The check was for $600 .. $600..!!! John tried to down play all of it . he didn't raise any arguments with the estate company in my defense .. He did nothing .. told me when we closed he would give me $10,000 to make up for it .. lol .. well long story short , he is no longer my realtor .. this estate sale happened less than a year ago .. $10,000 was a drop in the bucket .. my baby grand was worth $5,000 .. but John never gave me a penny ... i was left with an empty , ugly inside of was once a gorgeous Williamsburg Mansion .. He Completely dismissed me .. treated me with great disrespect .. I hope to find an awesome lawyer and sue him and his company .. no one selling their home should ever have this happen to them .. on top of this horrific estate sale I spent over $100,000.00 on my house , John said it needed to put on the market .. but I have had so much feedback that it was the biggest mistake ever to listen to him and his designer ... they painted over original murals .. painted everything stark white .. it's been awful ..

Then when I got the bill, the county had my name miss-spelled. Hanover County told me to contact Homeland. I did, and nothing was done. A year later, wen I received the new Tax bill with my name still miss-spelled I called them again, and again they ignored the request. This year we were thinking of selling our house and we went on line and found that they had my house selling for over $ 100K less than the actual sale price. I called and sent them a letter, they replied and asked me to contact them. I did and was told my contact was on vacation, and I asked to speak to someone else. No call back that day, No call back the next or the next. I called and left 4 more voice mails requesting a call back at both their offices, and made 20 calls to individual extensions. no one answers. My suggestion is do not do business with them. They are incompetent and do not fix the problems they create. You find out a lot about a company about how they handle problems, or don't. I have bought and sold 10 houses and they are by far the worst closing, title company I have ever done business with. In my case our issue still isn't fixed and they don't answer their phones. These are all their issues, they admit it, but getting them to fix their mistakes has been tough.

It was difficult to get responses when maintenance issues arose, and after moving out, communication regarding our security deposit was also lacking. We asked questions about the deductions and never received complete answers. We worked hard to leave the home in good condition. The house was vacuumed and generally cleaned, and my husband mowed and maintained the yard the day before we moved out. We expected some routine cleaning after eight years, but we were shocked that only about $600 of our approximately $2,000 security deposit was returned. Many of the deductions appeared to us to be for normal wear and tear that naturally occurs after an eight-year tenancy. We were also charged for landscaping even though the yard had been maintained before we turned over possession. Our experience left us feeling that the deposit deductions were unfair and that our concerns were not taken seriously. Because of the lack of communication and how our move-out was handled, we cannot recommend renting from this company. We encourage prospective tenants to thoroughly document the property's condition with photos and videos at both move-in and move-out and to keep records of all maintenance requests and communications.

Please don't make the same mistake we did, and do your research into these companies. It's not exactly clear what kind of partnership, agreements, or kick-backs they may be getting for pushing them. The decision is, of course, always up to you as the buyer. Shop around, compare prices, read the small print, and when someone at the agency hands you a paper to sign saying this is our preferred business for x,y, or z, tell them you're going to shop around first. On that note, Cinch home warranty (their "preferred" or "recommended" warranty service) has been an absolute nightmare riddled with incompetence to deal with. A proper review of that scam will be put on their respective sites and the BBB, but for JFP, it should fall on them to recommend the best, not just their partners, especially to new, first-time home buyers. Again, stay far, far, far away from Cinch for your 1st year home warranty.
