All around, this was a great place to stay while spending a week skiing in St. Anton…read more There's a strong list of amenities: reasonably good sized rooms (some of which have balconies), an impressive array of sauna rooms (though wish the hours weren't limited from 3-8 PM), a great apres ski bar in the basement (with live music throughout the evening), helpful staff at the front desk and in the dining room, and a short walk to the gondola. This end of town is a bit quieter than if you were more centrally located (near the Galzig gondola). However, you're near a handful of ski stores, as they are next to the gondola which makes it easy to pick up ski rentals. The ski bus is also in close proximity if you're looking to take it to St. Christoph, Lechs, Zurs, etc. Rooms had just enough space, but were generous with closet space for hanging items up, etc. Water pressure in the shower was great and hot water was never an issue. Two of my favorite elements of the hotel were the extensive sauna rooms in the lower level (one infared, one steam, and one Finnish). They supply towels in the area, just bring your robe from the room. Secondly, the Keller Bar in the basement became a fixture in our week long stay. From 5-7, there was a great cover band and from 9-11 was a more acoustic set. Both were quite entertaining. The staff was helpful and were able to help out group secure our lift tickets and charged it to our room at the end of the week. Very thoughtful!

The location is impeccable, right by both the Galzigbahn and the Gampenbahn and a stones throw away from the Rendlbahn. The espressobar houses a weekly dj-night, perfect before heading out to Postkeller, arl.rock or any other St Anton club. And of course, amazing coffee!!! Also a good selection of wines and cigarres. Quite a young and hip crowd here. The ANTON Café is really busy during the day, and fighting for a table on the terrace is so worth it on a sunny day. Their evening service is a bit more personal and relaxed. They also have a really cool Kinderterrarium, literally a glass box that overviews the whole restaurant. No smoking indoors! Mixed ages and companies, but a pretty fashion-concious crowd overall. The Squarebar (outdoors) is the perfect pitstop between Galzing and Rendl. Anton Bar is usually packed with part ski teachers, part tourists and part locals. 25+ or so. The whole place is more or less the hipster joint of St Anton, but still relaxed and not pretentious. Can't wait to go back!

Their building also has the ski lockers where you can lock up your skis and boots for the night, as well as the local Sportsjug for all your ski needs. There is a cafe and a bar available here, although the cafe closes at about 5pm. The bar is reasonable with intermittent waiter service, live music was played on at least a couple of days and it's a useful spot to set as a meeting point for the end of the day.

You arrive in Oberlech by gondola, because it's car-free in the winter. Hotel Burgwald, along with the other central Oberlech hotels, is connected to the gondola by underground tunnel. It's the overall experience once you get here that makes Hotel Burgwald so unique--warm and genuine staff, world-class skiing at the doorstep, exquisite dining each evening, casual apres-ski atmosphere where families play boardgames by the fireplace or visit the spa. All very special family memories that make staying at the Burgwald in Oberlech the winter experience I measure all our other stays in the Alps against.

Rooms were decently sized. Very comfortable bed and sofa. Double sink for more convenience for 2 people. Toilet is in a separate room from the showers/sink. Would be nice if the toilet room had better ventilation but other than that, everything else was good. Free wifi throughout the hotel. They also have a ski room in the basement where u can store your ski boots and skis/snowboards. The ski boot holders are heated so that your feet feels warm when u first put it on. They also have designated rooms listed on each bootholder so that each guest room can store 2 pairs of boots. Swimming pool is small. I didn't use it. Resting room is coolly air conditioned and has very comfortable beds and water beds to rest in. Sauna has 3 different rooms. One high dry heat room, one steam room (with menthol) , and another dry room with herbs, as well as an infrared room with 2 seats. Everyone has to either be naked or can use a towel to cover up. No swim suits allowed in the sauna. Sauna is open from 4-8pm. It hasn't been too busy when I've gone. Breakfast is served buffet style. They have a chef who makes freshly cooked eggs and omelettes for you. There's waffles, pancakes, fruits, breads, hams, cheese, cereal, bacon, yogurt, sausages, tea and coffee, etc. There was alot to pick from. And the food actually tastes good. Afternoon snack is served from 4pm to 530pm. They put out a few types of food buffet style and you get it yourself. They usually have cheese and sausage platter, breads, and then a little entree that changes daily. One day we had schnitzel. Another day we had pasta. Dinner changes daily. One day they give us a buffet style. Most days, they show you a dinner menu at breakfast time with 3 entrees listed, and you tell them which one you want. Dinner starts off with an appetizer, then a choice of soup, then salad buffet, entree, and then dessert. Food was unique and delicious. I especially liked the surf and turf. The hotel is literally steps away from the dorftunnel which takes you to the gondolas for snowboarding. Servers and workers were all friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel for a ski trip.

We have been to Gargellen for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer and we can't imagine a more perfect place for both. If you travel to Austria we highly recommend this peace of Heaven.
