I decided to stay at Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre before getting an early morning…read moretrain to use my RadissonRewards points, This is one of two Radisson branded hotels within the city centre (There is one at the airport too), One of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in was The Edwardian which is part of the Radisson Collection (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-edwardian-manchester-manchester), so being the other Radisson in the city the Park Inn has a lot of living up to do. It is much cheaper, I managed to get a night here for 38,000 reward points which sadly didn't include Breakfast, generally, it would have been pretty cheap and worked out between £60-70 a night (Possibly down to the VAT cuts by the UK government to help recover from COVID pandemic?) Before my stay, I received an email detailing the precautions which they are taking ahead of the pandemic - The restauraunt is closed and they are currently only serving a continental breakfast in grab and go bags delivered to the room at 6:30 am (I hate how they can't offer a cooked breakfast again this makes no sense as the majority of hotels at least offer room service) - Mini Bars locked or removed (This is the most bizarre COVID precaution I've seen - I can't keep milk or other items in a fridge in my room but I can use a shared fridge at reception?) - They only clean rooms after each guest or every 6 days if you're staying longer unless you ask them too (surely during a pandemic they should be aiming to clean more frequently rather than less?) The hotel was clean as you'd expect and it's also in a great location, it's next to a bus stop for the 135 and 41 and also a 24-hour garage which stocks essentials. It's also a couple of minutes away from Manchester city centre, a great nightlife scene with the Printworks nearby as well as Manchester Arena and Victoria Station, I also have to note I find it rather amusing that despite being called the Park Inn, there are no car parking facilities other than sharing the nearby NCP Arena car park. They had a good amount of lifts which is essential right now due to social distancing, with 8 floors (including two basement) , they moved pretty quick too. The only problem was one of the lifts had an awful smell. I was pleased with the look of my room, it had everything I needed (apart from extra pillows which they delivered on request), there were also a good amount of tables around the room including a dining table, bedside table and desk. It was a little dark but they did have numerous lamps and a light around the bed which I loved. Even with this though, it still seemed rather dark in the room, a light directly above the bed would have been much better to add much-needed brightness into that area of the room. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were fine albeit they were rather small, the blinds seem to block out the majority of the light. There was a good amount of plug sockets including USB's which is again essential for me. The hotel seemed quiet from exterior noise but interior wise, you could regularly hear the slamming of doors and shouting in the corridors going into the night, which was even more frustrating given the fact my room was towards the end of the corridor. I could even hear someone's phone ring and then proceed to answer the phone. It seemed to go on in the early hours of the morning. The staff in the hotel seemed friendly, they also had no problem bringing my milk to me which I stored in their fridge. They were happy to show me to my room, show me around and answer any questions. They did an incredible job dealing with a difficult customer who was being confrontational and shouting in the lobby, credit to the lady for keeping calm and professional throughout his abuse to her and demanding she be sacked to her manager - Radisson if you're reading, she did a terrific job and made my stay better. She's the type of employees you want in your team. In the morning, I was able to pick my Breakfast up from reception as they forgot to take it to my room, the breakfast bag was basic and sadly didn't include much gluten-free, I did get yoghurt and a fruit juice and a pastry for my friend, considering the limited facilities right now it wasn't too bad. I did sleep well, obviously, the corridor noise was a distraction as mentioned above. I did have a rather enjoyable stay and found this much better than some other Radisson hotels I've stayed in which are of a higher category, while I wouldn't say this is a luxury hotel, it is a nice and comfortable hotel in a great city-centre location with really low room-rates, for the price it offers a lot more than other more expensive hotels, the staff also being happy and always to help and no card holds makes it much better than me. 4* - An extra star based on value for money and the other factors mentioned benefit into this.

I really rather like this hotel…read more It was clean, the staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was immense. Granted it is slightly outside the town centre, but nothing to complain about at all. The night I stayed, Jay-Z was playing across the street so I had the pleasure of having breakfast with lots of people who had pink hair - I assume they were his backing dancers! Back to the hotel... it has a delightful pool and spa which is I believe available to all guests. I was up early and in the steam. The Nu Spa supplies free towels, a reasonable sized locker room and powerful showers. Oh how I love a power shower. Honestly, that is pretty much a deal-breaker for me when it comes to my affairs with hotels. If I don't leave the shower feeling like I have been peed on by Niagara's little bro. I'm done!

Previous…read moregood experiences with Marriotts in Durham & Windsor mean that I feel this is the perfect place for my 2100th review due to my love of hotels, my 44th hotel review. There was some issues in finding out when the fire drill would take place, firstly only being given a day and no further notice, an issue which was on a phone call prior to my stay and check-in. I had to ask on the morning of my stay to find out it was the reasonable time of 2pm. The staff in all seemed really friendly & mostly helpful, The location could be better: ongoing construction works make it worse, causing a lack of pathways going to the hotel when approaching on foot - dangerous! It's located at the bottom of Quay Street on Walter Street, off Deansgate. Next to the River Irwell, it's basically in Salford! Having booked through Expedia, I had difficulty with the free wifi but eventually was told to log on through the access code "member" rather than my name and room number as otherwise, I'd have to pay £15 - . If everyone gets free wifi why don't they make it just as easy to connect? The wifi speed was good, although in Mb/s my mobile data was exactly double the speed. Amenities in the room and things one would expect also weren't fantastic, there were very few teabags in my room and the room also didn't have a hotel information guidebook which every other hotel I've stayed at has. The hotel does have Room Service but you wouldn't know it - there was no menu or information! Check-in was quite easy, and I did find the staff to be quite nice and helpful in informing me about breakfast, which was much cheaper than other nearby hotels at £10 each booking in advance or £17 each during the day. After paying in reception, I was given a voucher rather than it being charged to my room which I found to be strange. Served until 10 am on weekdays, it ends slightly earlier than I'd have liked and what I'm used to at nearby hotels such as the Hilton Manchester Deansgate which is 10:30 am. Breakfast certainly wasn't worth it - I have reviewed that separately at V&A Restaurant. Placed in a room on the first floor, it had a nice balcony overlooking the reception on approaching the room, the door to get into the room was a little old fashioned and I didn't know how to operate the key at first, the key was much thicker and looked like a credit card - compared to other hotels I have stayed at in the past. The room was not modern, but it was nice, large and spacious, it had a brick interior with cool windows and a decent bed (Not as good as other hotels I've stayed at such as the Hilton in terms of size and comfort). Perhaps a little dark due to the wooden beams and reliance on natural light. I did have to request a fridge, as there wasn't a minibar in the room to store my snacks and beverages. I didn't like the TV in the room, not only did I find it too small for a room of its' size, but it was fairly old-fashioned with limited TV channels, and even the channels listed were not all available, such as BT Sport which redirected to a dead no signal link or BBC. There wasn't even a TV guide! I did have to call the hotel to check the television on three occasions, one of the issues was down to a cable issue causing the television to malfunction and power its-self off. For a big brand like Marriott to have such an awful, old, small, malfunctioning TV that is just shockingly poor. The TV later malfunctioned again, turning its-self off, refusing to come back on meaning I had to call the hotel AGAIN. I asked for it to be replaced but they refused because of the time. The room was very noisy at times, with obvious noise from the restauraunt and other areas of the hotel. The noise just seemed to get worse from the fan and construction areas. Room prices are in most cases priced in line with other rival hotels, for my room I paid £74 for a Sunday in early February, having booked over a week in advance this price had risen to £97 by the time I stayed, obviously I paid the lower price. The average price works out at just over £100 per night, obviously some nights it can get pretty pricey and cost over £200. I didnt sleep too well - this was down to being woken up early by a strange noise coming from outside, and a small flashing red light in the room, also putting a huge white pole in the middle of the room was an unwanted, bright obstacle. I also don't like how the hotel don't have rooms with walk in showers. Shockingly poor in so many areas. Basic details: lack of tea & menu in the room, no notice to replace the bed linen or free bottled water, to larger ones: comfort room, lighting, TV, space utilisation, narrow lifts, noise & more which I've previously mentioned. Despite multiple flaws, this hotel is poor and I couldn't possibly have stayed here over one night, with a poor nights sleep & breakfast adding to its woes. 1*

The queen sized bed was comfy and the bed sheets and soft and comfy, the 4 feather pillows are also uber soft and take some getting used too. There is a large flat screen in the rooms with a plethora of channels to choose from. There is a small refrigerator to fill with groceries and the room comes with a Nespresso machine for coffee lovers! Plenty of wall sockets and a USB port on each side of the bed. A small bottle of still and sparkling in the rooms daily. Some noted issues: dirty dish (plates), ironing board but no iron, shelving in the restroom is location above the toilet so make sure to always close the lid. Breakfast was not included but is available for £10 daily.

I'm going to be honest and shed some embarrassing news that I originally turned up at the wrong hotel, with there being two Holiday Inn's in Manchester center, one being more central and an "Express" hotel round the back of the Crowne Plaza, meanwhile this branch is located more towards Piccadilly, and right next to the Hilton Doubletree hotel. Moving onto my regular review, this is a really nice hotel, especially for a budget chain like Hilton, and I'd even go as far as saying it is just as nice, perhaps nicer than the Double-tree Hotel next store, run by Hilton. When booking in advance the rates did seem quite reasonable at around £100 a night for a standard room, which was the average when booking a a full week including week-ends, which is reasonable but for some reasons for a stay on a Tuesday night, 3 months from now worked out at around £120, which seemed rather expensive, as even the Hilton would have charged less. Holiday Inn is quite a cheaper brand, however this branch does seem quite high end, and on the inside it seemed really modern with a bar area, and some cool seating even on the basement level, and multiple suites. The suites didn't seem really nice, they just seemed average, for the event I visited the Hacienda Suite in the Basement, really wasn't nice and modern as the rest of the hotel, and there was even music from outside which disrupted the event, and made it harder to hear Diane James and co speaking, which was a shame. The toilets were very nice, they seemed spacious and clean and the design was all but plain, it just seemed nice, however the toilet paper did need replacing as it just seemed to be almost empty, apart from half a slice which made the class fall down, like going from Jamie Redknapp to Harry Redknapp straight away. Overall, this hotel is average, which is ruined by the fact that some things including the suites are basic, and that the prices do seem really high when the brand Holiday Inn is supposed to be a cheaper chain, not a high-end one, the service seemed okay, even the Reception desk didn't seem too helpful, so sadly I feel this Holiday Inn has only done enough to earn 2 stars, I would have been willing to give 3 if just one of the flaws was improved such as service, pricing, making it clearer to distinguish between the two hotels in Manchester or of course they didn't play loud music outside, which disturbed the event when they were fully aware it was going on.

The restroom boasts The White Company, London amenities. Good size tub and dual sinks. Shower is a stand-alone corner style with sliding doors, so if your 6'+ you will bang your elbows and knees. The club rooms also have separate sleeping quarters and a nice couch, desk and table with chairs. The room has a couple large flat screen TV's with a good amount of channels. There is an ironing board, small refrigerator, hot water heater and coffee machine. Everyday they drop off a couple cookies and chocolates. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which offers room service and plenty of meeting rooms and banquet halls. With the club floor access, I had access to the club lounge where you could have a variety of beverages and free breakfast. I believe from 18:00-20:00 they have appetizers and free alcoholic beverages available. Nice views of the city from the 8th floor lounge. Tip: Join the IHG rewards to earn night stays and access to the club lounge for FREE drinks and appetizers. Pleasant staff and you can even review your bill and check out on your TV before you leave.

The room was really comfortable with a bed in which I'd have gladly made a fort if I had the time. The bathroom is kind of inside the room although mercifully for anyone sharing, the toilet is in its own little room. Soft drinks in the mini bar are complimentary and there's tea and coffee and a wardrobe that's so discreetly hidden it took me a while to find it. The decor is modern and trendy, but nothing could prepare me for the fact that there was a DJ at breakfast. Granted he was playing music appropriate to breakfast, but still - a DJ. At breakfast. With like turntables and speakers and everything. At breakfast. Tbh I'm surprised they let me in!

I have had many good stays at the Hilton Garden Inn brand, but I have never found a particular stay…read moreat the Hilton Garden Inn brand to be exceptional, this is until I visited Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Emirates Old Trafford, which delivered a very good hotel experience. The location of the hotel as suggested by the name is a part of the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium complex, it is also right next to Old Trafford Metrolink stop, which has services into Bury and Piccadilly, via the city centre, and takes around fifteen minutes, this also makes this hotel the ideal location to be close to the city centre but without the noise and heavy traffic. I managed to take a look at three different types of rooms during my stay, the first being a King Room with a Sofa Bed, this room did feel slightly cramped and the sofa did seem to get in the way a little, but like all the rooms this was comfortable. My friend stayed in this room and was very happy overall. The second room I tried was a standard King Room, this was much larger and more spacious, I was delighted with this room however due to an issue with the bathroom (The toilet was unable to stop flushing), I had to be re-located, due to no other standard rooms being available, I was upgraded to a King Room with a Pitch View. The King Room with a Pitch View was one of my favourite hotel rooms I've ever stayed in, the room wasn't too big, nor too small, but what made the room was the fantastic view, and the balcony, this is a dream come true for any cricket fan. The rooms did get very warm too, so having a balcony did help the room to cool, as windows in the standard rooms did not appear to open, and I did find the thermostat very difficult to use. I was also pleased with the comfort of the room, as well as the lighting and the fact the room was very quiet, I was able to sleep for much longer than I'm able to at many other hotels, which again goes to show for the good location. The room rates are very reasonable too, ranging between £63.75 and £85 for my stay, obviously, on event days the prices will skyrocket, but you can understand why. I did not manage to try breakfast during my stay, as I wanted to sleep for a little longer, but my friend commented "This is one of the few hotels currently offering a full buffet right now", and they did enjoy their breakfast. I do wish they continued it a little longer, during the week the breakfast ends at 10 am. The facilities in the room also were good, the TV was large, had a decent number of channels including Sky Sports, I was able to get a solid 5G connection in my room, reaching 100 mbp/s+, and I really liked the desk too. 5* - This hotel delivers luxury at an affordable price, it is a dream come true for a cricket fan and I am struggling to name any major issues or anything to warrant removing a star. I do look forward to returning and hope this hotel is used as a statement for how Hilton Garden Inn's should be. The extension to this hotel planned, which will add 100 rooms, will likely make the experience even better.

We only stayed for one night, as my dad had an early morning flight from Manchester to Orlando, and we didn't fancy making a 2hr dash in the morning from the midlands! The food was okay - the ham and sausages were meh but I asked for poached eggs, which were just beautifully right. Lots of great teas and very attentive service from all staff we encountered. Make sure you get a validated parking ticket from reception before leaving, as the boom gates weren't open otherwise. All together it was a great stay and I'd def book this hotel again when/ if my travels take me Manchester way! Yelp 22/ 2019
