I specifically called to request both a pump and an inspection, as we've been having ongoing issues with our septic system. When the team arrived, they only pumped the tank and told us they don't do inspections. This was frustrating because the person I spoke to on the phone assured me that they offer both services. We needed an inspection to understand the root of the problem, and their lack of follow-through left us feeling misled and disappointed. Now we need to find another septic company just to come out and do the inspection, which is an unnecessary hassle that could've been avoided if they had been upfront about their services. While they're quick for basic pumping, I wouldn't recommend them if you need more thorough septic services or clear communication.

They said the tech could tell me what needed to be done and the cost when he arrived. When he arrived, he didn't even look at anything or hardly want to hear anything I had to say about what was going on. He basically just walked up and said here are your 3 options, they cost $270, $500 or $520. I said which one do I need. He said I don't really know, you choose and we will see if that's what the problem is.... REALLY!? So if I choose wrong, then we will have to do another thing and if that doesn't work we will have needed I'll spending well over $1000. H said yeah it's kind of a catch 22. I expected them to arrive and use some expertise, perhaps diagnostic tools and TELL ME what needed to be done to fix the job. Oh, and the guy said it was going to cost like $270 for him to dig up the septic tank. I could save some money by digging it up myself... ok, I'll spend 10 mins to save $270. He proceeded to tell me my 7 year old gaspack…read moreunit heat exchanger was all rusted and had holes in it and was most likely dumping carbon monoxide into my vents and it could kill us. Told me that he legally had to shutoff the gas supply to the unit as it was dangerous. Quoted me ballpark figures of $5k to replace the heat exchanger or even better to replace the entire unit at a cost of $9k-$15k! I immediately called my prior service company and them come out and inspect the unit the next business day. They pulled the blower motor and showed me a very shiny heat exchanger that was in perfect shape. The thing the Preferred technician was showing me was the burner, not the heat exchanger! My prior technician also informed me my unit is still under warranty and the heat exchanger has a 20 year parts warranty so I would only have to pay $500 labor charge to replace it if it was bad. If feel like Preferred Home Services are dishonest and use scare tactics to upsell their unknowing customers on unnecessary repairs and replacements. I attempted to address these complaints with management at Preferred Home Services, but after waiting for 3 days with no call back, decided to post this review. I will not use their services again. ​
