I have been there a few times for the animal's sanctuary tour over the years and have eaten at the restaurant and wondered what it would be like to stay in one of the chalets. It is a great Canadian experience. Checking in was easy and the chalet was clean. We only needed extra blankets and pillows which they gave us. Customer service was great, picking up the phone and calling the desk for whatever we needed was met by staff asap. We did the tour again, as well as walked the grounds wherever allowed. We ate at the restaurant only once for breakfast as the cabin has a small kitchen and you can cook almost anything so we picked up groceries at NoFrills to save a bit of money. I'm giving them 5 stars as perhaps I'm biased, I love Timmins and the wilderness and that it's an old rough and tumble mining town. I'm not going to nit-pick on small details. The price of staying in one of the lodges was good, you're paying to have your own little piece of quiet and considering it takes lots of upkeep, we were very happy. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, slept well in the loft as the bed was comfortable and my friend slept on the pull-out sofa on the main floor. We will certainly be going back as it was easy check-in and check-out, staff are friendly and approachable, and amenities are close by.

My husband booked the Top Floor Suite (Room 324) for our anniversary, and unfortunately, the…read moreexperience didn't meet expectations. Check-in was scheduled for 3:00 p.m., but we had to wait until about 4:30 p.m. before our room was ready. While the suite itself was clean, it felt quite outdated for the price point. After dinner, we returned to the room and used the jet tub, which was very clean and enjoyable. However, the rest of the evening was disappointing. Around 10:00 p.m., there was significant noise from children running up and down the hallways and staircases on either side of our room. The suite is not soundproof, and with staircases on both sides--including a wooden one leading to the main lobby below--the noise carried heavily. This continued until around 11:00 p.m. I contacted the front desk to report the excessive noise. The staff member was polite and apologized, mentioning she would speak to the parents and note our file for compensation. Unfortunately, the noise continued even after the call. The next morning, when asked about our stay, I again mentioned the noise issue. Another apology was offered, but no compensation or follow-up was provided. For $350 per night, we expected a much more relaxing and updated experience--especially for a special occasion.
