Don't rent a space from here. They need to revise their business practices before I would ever think about going with them again. Got in a 10x20 unit with a $147 per month rate during the pandemic. They increased my rate not more than 4 months in to $198. 7 months later, almost coming up on a year they again raised my rate to $278, citing increased demand in the area and the fact they could get someone paying more than $300. Two rate increases within a year, this place should be ashamed of its practices, especially during a pandemic. I quickly found another unit of better quality, no mice infestations, and it actually has a light in it, back to paying under $200. read more

My mom was trying to get a unit. Now first off my mom has some disabilities and doesn't work. Her hand is in rough shape from an accident and as I said she has disabilities. The person "helping" her immediately asks what's wrong with her hand. So rule one, don't point out this stuff. She then proceeded to ask her about her medication and refused to give her service. She then said to go "walk around for an hour"...by the way it's about 90F and humid outside. She also proceeded to ask what she would be storing...not "hey are you storing this specific type of item because we don't allow it" but "what are You storing". So my mother was refused service for her disabilities and the employee was asking very sensitive questions. NEVER EVER WILL I USE EXTRA SPACE STORAGE AGAIN. They discriminate and are rude. Never go here, EVER unless you want to be humiliated. read more

terrible company charged me for a storage after i already moved out , called for a refund they refused to give it back , told them that i need the storage they charged me for, they said no i already moved out, so they get to keep my money for the month plus my storage that i already paid for . the whole place is infested with rats and roaches and your items will be destroyed by time you go to get them . they are dirty and thieves and dont care about their customers . they also refused to give me the mangagers number or an email for me to contact him about the storage i already paid for but cant use or my refund for the storage they charged me for but sold to someone else . big scammers .angel is unprofessional , lies so dont trust his word because he will tell you theres nothing he can do about it read more

Let me tell you!! You need storage? THIS is THE place to go. Should I start with the exceptional customer service? Ok , the night we moved in it was after hours and we couldn't figure out how to operate the pin pad to open the gates , which by the way are accessible till all hours, I had 3 cars full with me! Oh no! The office was closed what was I going to do?? Well, out of nowhere comes this magnificent woman, my heroine! She was working after hours and saw me struggling and came right out to help! I didn't even know she was there. Friendly as can be! And of course it was user error! So, on to the facility itself. As a female I appreciate the well lit, safe, secure grounds. The unit was spacious and clean! No rodents, no droppings, no bugs. I was quite impressed! They are very reasonably priced and conveniently located. When you need storage this is the place to go. Oh, be sure to ask for Tanya!! She is absolutely the best! So friendly and helpful! If it weren't for her superior customer service I might still be sitting outside the gate! read more

Steer clear of this place! I'm sorry to have to write this negative review, because location and accessibility are ideal for me. This company represents all the negative aspects of capitalism in that they are very opportunistic and profit-driven, even before good customer service. Unlike most businesses, there is no loyalty to good customers, but just the opposite. Once you move all your stuff in, after being offered a reasonable deal, they allow a supply and demand policy to take effect. Unless your storage needs are very short term, and you enjoy being verbally abused, be prepared to have your rates increase unreasonably fast, and in the event that you are late on a payment, even by very few days, to pay a 20 percent late fee. In my case, before one increase, they installed climate control, which I didn't need, to justify a huge rate increase. There was no offer to help move to another unit. You are also required to leave the slider open, while working in your space, which is nearly impossible in our changing New England weather. When I asked the current site manager, Tina, a few questions about these inflexible policies, she went on for five minutes about how happy she was working for such a wonderful company, but when I tried to speak, and challenged her reasoning, she literally told me she wasted 12 minutes listening to my "banter,' and hung up on me. Not once did I swear, or speak disrespectfully to her, but succinctly expressed my concerns. I have worked in the job force for over fifty years, including in management, education, and retail business ownership, and never have I spoken to a client in the way I was spoken to by this person. My advice is to not hang onto things you don't need, and be aware of what you are signing on for. This place is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. So we called yesterday to inquire about a storage space. Woman on the phone says first month free, will cost $24.95 processing fee. That's it. She says there's one unit left at that price, but nobody has called so it should be available tomorrow. Not once did she mention this was a super special promo that was only good for that one day. So today we show up at 930 right when they open. Veronica, the woman behind the desk, was awesome. She saw the notes saying we were told it was first month free. So it's not like I'm some customer making a story up. Their computer system verified my story. So Veronica calls her manager and manager says too bad. It was only good for yesterday. Cannot and will not do anything to help. Now I was moving stuff from Webster so clearly the greendale area is not convenient. So long story short (too late I know) the manager let us leave over $40. So lost a customer over $40 and now I'm going to slam them on every social media platform that exists. That's sounds worth it I've had a day to think about what happens and I've come to the conclusion that they still suck and I'd never do business with them. Terrible Customer Service! I went on line in the evening to "reserve" a storage unit, for the next day. Was told the manager would get in touch with me, I ok'd texting. I didn't hear from them so I went to the Ararat St, Worcester MA , location. I got to the parking lot at 8:20 & noticed they didn't open until 9:30. I sat there and waited, at 9:28 another car pulled up closer to the building, so I got out of my car and walked to the door (about 8 steps). The women who just pulled up walked in with her 3 kids. The manager asked us our names, I told her I was waiting since 8:20 and that the other women just got there. The manager said, "well she walked in the building first" I couldn't believe it! She didn't even bother to ask the women, then said that I had to "get out" because of Covid regulations. PLEASE GO TO THE CLINTON STREET SHREWSBURY, MA LOCATION. Our daughter moved back to this area from NYC. She had sooo much stuff that we had to find a place quickly and conveniently. Cannot say enough good things about Extra Storage Space. The receptionist was knowledgeable and helpful. The facility was clean, organized and easy to get to. They have dollies all over the place which is a great asset when trying to move heavy boxes. Plus they make the payment schedule very easy. Now that she has moved to Boston, they also made it easy to stop automatic payments and all her stuff remained clean, dry and pest free. Would definitely use them again and highly recommend to people looking for good safe storage! read more

I do not recommend anyone using this facility. Have only been renting a 10x20 unit there for 5 months paying $160 a month. Received a letter in the mail today telling me my rent will increase to $294 a month due to supply and demand. After speaking with someone at the front desk I was told that the rate increase was "out of their control." I'm only using this unit while my house is being built and my wife and I live in a trailer temporarily, never mind the fact I only need the unit for another 3 months. If it means anything to those reading this, I've never given a business a poor review online until now and am not one to do so just because I did not get my way. read more

Worst customer service ever!!!! We were told yesterday that our first month would be for free and that the second month would be a 15% off discount and we could've paid the down payment yesterday but we were very busy.l and the woman said that she did not receive any calls to rent the space so we should be ok for first thing in the morning. So today we go to the facility first thing to get our unit at the first month for free which is technically not for free they charge you a $24.95 administration fee... there was an employee Veronica there who is very very helpful. She was from a different store so she had no idea what was spoken about previously however there were notes in the system that discussed a discounted price. But she said that was no longer available in the system and she could do 50% off but that was all she was aithorized to do. So Veronica being awesome offered to call the manager of the location and the manager decided to not honor the deal online or what her employee told us just 12 hours previously and tried to charge us more money because it was the last 5 x 10 storage space available. Veronica was great she felt so bad that there was nothing she could do and was very empathetic but it wasn't her call. Customer service is huge this day and age we can choose from many different places in order to satisfy our storage needs. So for $40 she completely lost my business and I took my business to Cube Smart instead and they did offer me the first month free and 40% off the second month with no problems at a place that is closer to where we are moving from. I highly recommend do not use the storage facility at Ararat street!! She will try to charge you more money if she knows that you are in desperate need of the space. That was where we went wrong we should not of shown her how much important it was for us to get that storage space. I think just because she knew that she decided not to give us a deal and to charge us more money on purpose because she knew that we needed to get that place today as we rented a truck already and everything!! This is by far the worst customer service I have received in a long time and it was from the manager of the facility not the employee Veronica I felt bad that the manager made her tell us all of that info!! If I was Veronica I would have been upset that she made her take the brunt of our frustration. She was just there trying to help us. I know how important reviews are as my former job I was paid a bonus if I received great reviews so for $40 I am going to go on every site I can and let people know that this woman is all about trying to rip people off and get as much money as you possibly can rather than honoring what her employees have said as well as what her online website says. So for $40 this is going to reach hundreds of people because just my Facebook following alone on three of my businesses and my personal page is over 7000 people so every one of those people is going to know not to use the storage facility at Ararat st Worcester and because I have a following on facebook they will listen. I really hope that $40 meant the difference of her being able to stay open or not and she had to get that much in order to make a profit... because for every person I tell of a negative experience it's been proven that there will be at least 12 other people that will also hear about that experience and then each one of those people will spread to another 12 people so she's now created a network of negativity around her business. I strongly suggest to not use the Ararat Street location. And to tell you the truth I found that Cube Smart was much more accommodating and had way better customer service read more

Staff was very friendly. Unit was very clean! They didn't push the expensive insurance and let us know we had other options. I was disappointed that I reserved a drive up unit as advertised, but when the manager called to confirm my reservation, she informed me that the price for a true drive up unit was about $15 more. As others have mentioned the insurance was offered but no pressure was applied to convince me to purchase it when I declined.
