I visited this location based on a family recommendation, but I had an upsetting experience in…read morewhich I experienced one uncomfortable interaction followed by another that I kept overlooking until I couldn't anymore. I expected to be helped and treated with respect, but instead I felt belittled and spoken down to. I would not recommend this business to anyone. The way I was mistreated damaged my trust and left me with a lasting negative impression. If the owner is reading this, understand that this has harmed your reputation. The male employee serving me spoke in a very whispery quiet, raspy voice which made it difficult for me to understand him. During the interaction while I was responding to something I later found out I had misheard because I was trying to decipher what he was saying the entire time, he placed his hand on top of mine & according to my recollection said, "You really are clueless, aren't you?" I found this insulting and humiliating, esp because I was having difficulty hearing him not because I was incapable of understanding what was going on. There were other uncomfortable moments. When I asked whether he would call me when my contacts were ready he responded, if I remember correctly, "Obviously. Would I just leave them lying around?" He also made an offhand remark when I said "astigmatism" twice even though it was directly relevant to our conversation: "Why do you keep saying astigmatism? I mean, you're saying it right..." The poor communication made it difficult to understand the pricing along with everything else. He also touched my hand on another occasion when I was tapping to pay, pushing my hand away from the payment machine. I considered this an invasion of my personal space particularly because it happened twice. After I became overwhelmed and started crying, he continued speaking to me in a way that felt patronizing, calling me "sweetheart" insisting that he did not intend to insult me. However, "clueless" is clearly a pejorative and has a negative connotation, & his response felt more like an attempt to minimize what he had done to save face than a genuine remorseful apology. He did offer to pay the remaining balance on my bill I assume to repair the situation, but by then the trust I should have in a business I'm being serviced by had already been broken. I was seeking help with something as important as my contact lenses as a first time buyer, & I did not feel comfortable or confident in the service I received. This interaction was humiliating, insulting, & esp unprofessional. Staff at businesses should treat every customer with respect, communicate clearly, & not violate customers personal boundaries. Unfortunately, this experience has caused me to lose trust in this business and become a customer elsewhere.

I was in the market for a new optometrist after moving here a couple years ago, so took my friends up on their review and decided to book an appointment. Dr. Permack was extremely kind, patient, and attentive. He took the time to run a number of tests on my eyes and make sure I was completely satisfied with the final prescription he prescribed. I also really appreciated that Dr. Permack paid attention to my family's ocular history and ensured that he ran a cornea mapping exam with some fancy new equipment he had! What most impressed me with Dr. Permack was that he was able to teach me how to put in contact lens and found me a type that I really liked. I've been resisting contacts for years now, and was so surprised when he was able to give me a pair of contacts that I could barely feel and actually could see through! All in all, I would recommend Dr. Permack without hesitation. If you're looking for a talented, conscientious optometrist, make sure to give him a call.
