She wanted somewhere to keep her money safe and would've liked a debit card, but you have to be 18 yrs old for one of those. So I got a debit card and my daughter ordered checks. We chose this bank out of a referral from my ex mother-in-law Sharon Bennett. My daughter stayed with her during school to play softball then got a job as a lifeguard so she'll be in Okeene for quite a while. The bank looks very nice on the outside. The majority of the parking is on the North side of the bank with one disabled parking spot directly in front. The entrance looks more like your walking into a nice home to visit friends, there's a very "homey" feel to it. They had just opened the lobby back up today (June 1st, 2020) and were ready for customers. Of course we were requested to wear masks and keep our distance from employees and each other. There was also a hand sanitizer station right when you walk in Cindy greeted us as soon as we walked and told us to come on up, so there was no wait time. She helped us out from filling out all the paperwork, picking out checks, a design for the debit card to explaining all the little details of having an account. She was very helpful and informative. We even got a complimentary cup holder, auto phone holder and some pens for each of us. Cindy made this experience very pleasurable, thank you Cindy!!

Jill, from Savings accounts, told her that the CD wasn't due for redemption and she would be penalized $438 for trying to redeem. My neighbor double checked her physical paper copy and confirmed it was a 12 month CD while Jill would not listen and insisted the computer was "right". We had to go to the bank, show them the physical copy, it took them 37 minutes to "figure it out", then the excuses began... Part time employee, data entry error, error recording duration and return rate, failed to make record copy, and so on. This episode does NOT reflect well on this branch, if not bank in general. Such sloppy, unprofessional record keeping; poor customer service & support, threatening to penalize a customer over their error, causing an elderly woman such distress and loss of sleep, is shameful. It all could have been avoided had Jill simply listened and worked with her. I recommend taking your banking and loan needs elsewhere. And if you are fortunate enough to have worked hard, saved your whole life to be ready in retirement by using Certificates of Deposit, ensure you keep accurate records, insist upon paper not digital records, and watch these folks...

I've been trying to close this account for months, and now have had the account in the negative, because of the fees. It's ridiculous!! I guess they will have to keep the account in the negative indefinitely if they can't close it remotely. Don't waste your time and money with this bank. Stick with a credit union!

I opened a new account and had a 10-day hold put on the check I wrote to transfer funds. I received…read morea letter from Bank of the West 5 days later, making me aware of the hold. The funds had cleared my old bank within 2 days but they still would not release the hold. $175 worth of fees later, I called the branch manager of the MWC branch and explained what happened and that I live on a fixed income and I could not take a hit like this in addition to the fact that it was just wrong. He told me that he would have to talk to his manager and call me back. After a week, I called again and left a message for him. I never heard from him but thankfully there are people at Bank of the West that DO care about their customers. One is Tierre Wells and Iniki at the Contact Center. I had asked for a manager and Iniki asked if I would explain to her about my issue and after I told her, she asked if she could make her supervisor (Tierre) aware of my plight. They treated me with kindness, understanding and genuine concern and when I hung up, I was a very satisfied customer. If this review was about a branch manager not calling me back, I would have put 1 star bc you can't leave zero stars. Based on the two employees who treated me as a valued customer and genuinely took the time to assist me, 5 stars!
