I have never been disappointed, i went here last year to purchase a christmas hamper. The quality of food and customer service given by Ian and his team is excellent. They have an in house bakery which they cook their fresh scones and pastries every morning. They offer very good value for money. I would highly recommend this business.

What caught my attention as I was browsing restaurants on the web was their extensive, separate vegan menu, which includes a handful of delightful desserts. I started with the tomato basil soup which was very tasty. For my main course I had the vegan Bolognese which was accompanied by vegan garlic bread and was very happy with it. They were so kind to let me taste the vegan mozzarella they make in house and after 3 and a half years of being vegan I can honestly say it was the best vegan mozzarella I have ever tasted. I ended with the vegan chocolate cake which was served with a very delicious fruit of the forest ice cream. It was almost brownie-like and there was no shortage of chocolate. I could have licked the plate clean. My brother had the lasagna on the main menu and said it was in the top three lasagnas that he has had in the WORLD. His wife had the Tagliatelle Mari & Monti who said it was absolutely delightful and not too fishy. They also finished with a chocolate cake (which was not vegan) and said it was delicious. Everyone was very kind, including the owners daughter, whose name I unfortunately did not catch. The food was so good I envisioned moving here and eating here every week. Extremely thrilled I convinced them to accompany me at this wonderfully delightful restaurant. I will be back in the near future and already cannot wait!

While they did that, I went for lunch at Mackey's since I enjoyed it so much the first time. This time, the wifi didn't work, after I had to find the only table topper in the the place. I was the only one there until another guy showed up. When I ordered the Blarney Beef sandwich, the lady told me that they were out of that and a couple other things... so I ended up with a crispy chicken sandwich. It took awhile for that food to come out, which was kind a disappointment and also starting to cause me panic because I had to get back to the coach so we could continue on our journey. The sandwich was not anything special. I did like the chicken, but trying to eat the thing as a sandwich was impossible. There was also very little caesar dressing, so the sandwich was quite dry. Overall, I was rather disappointed because the food the first time was so good and the service was good, but it wasn't like that this time.

Firstly the Wi-Fi was non-existent when we were there and when people are traveling out of the country they kind of depend on WiFi for cellular cost reasons. You have to do better with the bathroom lighting. Pink lighting is not great for a woman applying makeup lol. There was another light in that bathroom but it is very dim. There is nowhere to put anything like toiletries in the bathroom, no hooks, no shelving, no nothing it was very awkward in there. Also, our towel heater didn't work and I don't even think it was connected and they didn't have washcloths(which I've noticed is a thing throughout and I still don't get it lol) but no worries because I brought my own with me because I knew there would be about an 95% chance there would be no washcloths. All of this would've been a bigger deal if our stay was longer but it wasn't so these are just suggestions. Overall it's a beautiful spot and everyone was very nice.

The beds were uncomfortable, with mattresses that sank noticeably, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The shower was extremely narrow and had virtually no water pressure. It seemed like the kitchen's oil traps or waste may have been located or stored below our room, which made the smell particularly unpleasant. Cork International Hotel is also walking distance from the Cork Airport. I had a huge suitecase, but I heard from other people at work that taxis will not take me to the hotel because it is so close. Sure enough, when I walked outside, I saw the hotel from the airport. The alternative to walking is waiting for the shuttle, but the shuttle only goes around every half hour. After debating for a little bit, I decide to just walk over. The walk was about 10 minutes, but if you have less luggage, I am sure you can get there in a shorter time I did. Once I got to the hotel, the front desk person was super nice. She let me check in early. The room itself was pretty spacious. I also like the fact that the walls were thick enough that I did not hear the room next door. The only thing that I did not like was the bathroom was sort of musty and smelly. I think it might be from the curtains or there is not enough ventilation in the bathrooms. I normally just closed my bathroom door to keep away from the smell. Aside from that, I had no complaints about the room. I got the room with the breakfast, so I wandered downstairs every morning. It was a pretty decent spread with all the basics. The only thing was it is sort of hard to find the chef who cooks the omlettes, pancakes, etc. Normally, when I stand around, one of the waiters would find the chef for me. Even though, I did not really have a choice on where I stayed for my business trip, I had no complaints about the hotel and would not mind staying here again.

I got a voucher for The Castle Hotel on the back of a Dunnes Stores Reciept. A 2 night stay for 2ppl with breakfast each morning and one evening meal with a bottle of wine for 230euro. On Entering the Hotel on Friday afternoon we were greeted by a lovely lady, very jolly and chatty and couldn't give us enough information. she gave us a tourist map for cork and also a tourist map for the town of Macroom. She gave us all the information we needed about meal times, leisure centre times, the location of everything within the hotel and gave us some suggestions on where to go in the evenings or during the day in the town. The room was lovely, we had a king size bed and a single bed, tea and coffee facilities with my favourite cinnamon biscuits.....its the only reason I stay in Hotels....so yum! :) we also had an ironing board and iron, a telephone, a television with more channels than I would usually expect in a hotel. The only thing I felt was missing from the room was a hairdryer but, most people only stay here for a short time so I suppose they aren't really needed. That's just me being a typical picky woman! :P Oh and the windows were great!!!....nothing I find more irritating than tiny windows looking out at a wall or windows that hardly open an inch! the room had a big window, that opened...wide, it was great :) :) :) Overall I thought the rooms were spotless clean, the beds were very comfortable, the decor was warm and homely and of course ye....the biscuits :)
