On the weekend before the new carpet was due to be fitted we took up the old stairs carpet so we could paint the woodwork. I left the gripper rods in place as I thought they would be OK to use again. After a bit of consideration Martin decided to replace them because they weren't quite long enough for a perfect fit. In his words "I'd rather replace them, so I know it's been fitted correctly". When you hear that kind of thing you know you'll be happy with the end result and we are.
