I called to confirm they would be together, and assured this was the case (note: this was ordered January 24th and today is April 10) I was sent multiple billings which I had to call in and have revised to the 3 items and not the multiple repeats they were trying to bill me for. I was told the billing issue was remedied, and to expect my parcels to be sent together. I was notified later that only ONE of the rugs shipped on it's own, which finally arrived. The customer care agent (Jennifer Sealey) assured me as an apology and act of good faith, the freight cost would be refunded to me, at the inconvenience of having to double up on my travel time to have the rugs delivered from the office to the site. One week after the due date for the second half of my order, I received an e-mail (ONLY AFTER I CONTACTED THEM TO SEE WHERE MY PURCHASE WAS) that the items are no longer in stock and that I could have a 10% discount on an alternate option. I will update this review dependent on how they handle my complaint, I've called them and left a message and am waiting to hear what their resolution is. Buyers, beware! It takes MONTHS before you actually get anything you order (that's IF you end up receiving it at all). Not worth the headache, hassle, and multiple phone calls and e-mails you have to make to help keep them organized on their jobs.

I have been going to this hardware store since I was a child in the 80's and it was still called…read more"Pascals Hardware", and the supermarket across the street was still a "Steinbergs Grocery". Although it has up-scaled a great deal, going from an average neighborhood hardware, to upscale specialty paint/hardware/housewares and gifts it still has the same neighborhood feel and even some of the same staff. Wilder, who works behind the paint counter in the basement, where most of the "serious" hardware is located, has been there ever since I can remember, and always provides one of the best customer service experiences available. He knows his stuff, and is always happy to help. Upstairs, where the gifts and housewares are found, is home to what I can only describe as *the* best selection of gifts for hard to shop for hipsters and grandparents ever... It has to be seen to be believed. If your looking for some unique gifts, specialty hardware, or are just tired of the so-so service at other big box hardwares, try Hogg out...

This more of a hardware store/boutique. I was recently looking for a meatloaf pan with a removable…read moreinsert, so you can lift the meatloaf out of all the oil and fat that inevitably comes out once it's finished cooking ( if you've ever made meatloaf at home, you know exactly what I'm talking about). Anyway it seems Montreal doesn't have a lot of places that sells that but saw online that Hogg hardware does since it's part of the Home Hardware group. Went in, ordered it, got a call 2 days later to pick and it wasn't expensive at all. The guys are also really nice but while I was waiting around I saw a ton of cool stuff for the home including soy candles, funky door handles and coat hooks, and stuff you'll never see at Home Depot. I used to buy soy candles at Winners (since soy doesn't produce soot and burns cleanly), but increasingly they don't carry them anymore and instead have "hand-poured" candles ( what the hell is that supposed to mean if it doesn't change the fact that it produces soot?) but now at least I can get some here at a reasonable price. There's a reason why it's located in Westmount and also Nun's Island, it's definitely more bourgeoisie and less blue-collar.

I generally like to be left alone in a store like this dreaming of what to make while perusing the…read morefabrics. We've lost Joann's in The US and where I live there are very few decent fabric stores. We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and Fabricville came up as a fabric stop just an 8 min walk. I'm thrilled with my purchases: pattern making paper, gutermann thread and the coolest cotton print. This fabric will become a Toast dupe dress. The Value- incredible! This fabric was 60% off!!! It seems that they often have sales. And the service was prompt and polite.

Fabric stores have started to really decline in the last couple of years given that our…read moremanufacturing industries that made apparel have all but disappeared and so much of it comes from China. For those of use who own sewing machines and sew on our own, it's getting harder and harder to find places to get all our sewing needs and sewing notions met conveniently. Fabricville and Bouclair were always the two main stops but Bouclair is now mostly a design store now and half of Fabricville is also the same. Thankfully the other half of Fabricville still sells fabrics and sewing notions. I have an old-school Singer machine( all with metal parts inside) and I needed to get new needles for my machine for denim work. I found everything I needed here. Prices were pretty decent, the service was friendly but it's a location that's out of the way for me. I just wish sewing shops weren't as few and far between as they are nowadays.
