This is by far the best hair salon I have ever been to. I have lived all over the world and had been so dissatisfied with so many hair stylists, and after 3 years living in Portugal, I finally found the best place for color, cut, and style. Sad to have only found this place now as I may be leaving portugal soon. But for now, I'll be coming here all the time! My guy is Emanuel! Hands down the freaking best. He did an amazing job with my haircut, color, and style. Not only does he know how to treat my hair, he is also attentive, fun, and funny. Thank you, Emanuel. You are so gifted. Is it crazy that an American girl would go all the way to Lisbon for a hair appointment? Hell no, when the appointment is at Facto! In full disclosure, I was already in Europe, but I had plenty of other cities and salons to choose from. I did some online research, discovered Facto, and my gut told me it was the right place for me. Was I ever right, and you can bet I'm going back. I'm already planning my return to Europe with a first stop in Lisbon for another fabulous Facto day! The atmosphere at Facto is ELECTRIC, with owner Antony Millard leading the charge. An absolute gem of a guy--a heart of gold in the guise of a rocker. One of the most touching things to me was seeing Antony's caring, charismatic interactions with all his staff, and how they all engaged with each other. They're obviously friends, but even more so--they're a Facto family. And as for Ana, my stylist, where to begin? She's pure genius with color, treatment, cut, and style. I went in with badly dried-out hair from a summer of sea swimming, the remnants of a previous botched color job, and a photo of the new style I wanted. Ana delivered all that I wanted and more. We talked about what to do, and it became immediately obvious that she knew how to handle my mess. "I trust you," I said. "Do whatever you want." She painstakingly colored my hair, applied a deep condition/repair treatment (Liquid Hair), cut it brilliantly, and styled it in a way I'm actually able to repeat. During the whole process, she took time to show the up and coming stylists in the salon the various techniques she used. That's pure Facto--everyone pitching in , helping out, and learning from one another. I couldn't be happier with my hair. It's fresh and new, and yet it also feels more like me than ever before. While I was in the chair (because I spent a good 5 hours there!), I watched several clients come and go. Each person left looking like they felt like the most beautiful person on earth, and the most beautiful version of themselves. And that's exactly how I felt when it was finally time for me to go. Service was very good. Owner seems to be a rock fan, they played Led Zeppelin live - not exactly relaxing but personally I was ok with it. Pretty cool shop. I got an appointment within 90 minutes of asking, and was served on time. The result was excellent and at 34€ cheap for someone from Switzerland but probably expensive for locals. read more

There are very few times in life when reality exceeds expectations, but getting my hair cut at Facto today was one of those times. My stylist was Andre and he gave me that Amelie Poulain looking cut that I kept trying to get in the US for years but which the stylists at home could never quite get right. For one, US stylists always are too afraid to cut bangs as short as I want them and I always would end up leaving with them much longer than I wanted despite the constant cajoling and assurances that it would be fine and I wouldn't be upset. Well, Andre just cut them off all off in one sweep and also made the rest of my hair light and full of volume. He was also really friendly and told me to just drop in whenever to get my bangs shaped up. The price wasn't really an issue for me because my cuts in the US were the same/even more expensive. read more

This is a very different salon, in all the good ways! I still think about it! First, I really like my hair! The cut, the color, loved the style and I loved the interaction between the employees of this salon! They worked together, in fact I had at least 5 stylists who assisted in my hair. Ana was my main designer and I had someone assist her with papers, with the washing, with the styling. They didn't do it for her- except for the wash, but they assisted her. I asked the stylist who was washing my hair about this and he said it was unique to this salon, not simply a Potugual thing. The owner, he explained, trains them in his ways. And the owner also has unique situations for compensating for each stylist based on how big their client base is. This owner cares about his employees and teaches them all to be incredible stylists and to help each other out! Very admirable yes, but more importantly, what great character. I was ultimately the benefactor of this! I do love my hair! Now, why this review isn't a five: I was in here for five hours. Because I love my hair, it was worth it, but I was told it would take a little over two hours and wasn't expecting that. I'm sure they weren't either! And, I was surprised at how much it cost me. I looked online for pricing so thought I had an idea, but it was double what I thought. So, just ask them when you make your appointment and if the designer suggests anything, just clarify with her if that is an additional price. This last issue is something many salons need work with. We need to be able to choose if we want to spend that much. If you want a great style and can clarify cost, go here! Truly great salon and good people. read more

Just walked out of Facto after a fabulous cut by Leelan (Jr Stylist). I've been in Lisbon on holiday and wanted a fresh cut before heading home. Called the salon this morning and booked an appointment for the afternoon. Did have to wait about 25 min after the appointment to get started, but they do have a sign mentioning sometimes they go over to get the perfect cut. Leelan was very friendly and very professional and I love the cut, very modern and lots of movement in the layers. My only feedback would be to offer clients some water or something while waiting and make note they only accept debit/credit cards from Portugal. read more

i've got a haircut from the managing director anthony. i'm so disappointed and frustrated with my hair! i got a haircut which i definitely didn't agree on! he cut doubled the length i agreed to and now i can hardly make a ponytail. furthermore he made me a layered cut which doesn't fit to me. a possible reason for this outcome is that he was continuosly talking with other people and i didn't feel like he was focusing on my haircut. read more
