Our waitress was fluent in English and made us feel welcome in a "so you're not from around her, but that's okay, sit here" kind of way.... Very pleasant! The beer was plentiful and ice cold, and we had the Wienerschnitzel (I know... cliché, but oh so good!), and it came out fast, hot and delicious. Also, for French Fries fans... these were thin, hot and crispy! (Not a big fan of soft fries/chips). Right near the train station for a meal before you travel, or while you're waiting to check into your hotel. We'll be back!

The atmosphere is cozy traditional. It's down a few steps from the street level and you enter a somewhat dark, candle lit dining area. The tables and seating seem to be an eclectic collection that work well together. My server was prompt and I ordered a "Jever" pilsner beer to start. She brought over an English menu and made some suggestions. I took her suggestion for "Pork medallions with button mushrooms ala creme and fried potatoes". This was three thick slices of pork tenderloin. This and the potatoes were delicious and a very generous portion. Enough for two meals, but I ate it all anyway. :) I wanted a somewhat traditional German-style meal and I believe that I got it. :) Cheers.

A little old school but I can respect it. We came in and filled the last table-the place was already so lively at 6:30 on a Sunday (Mother's Day). They have English menus and were (of course) offering an asparagus specialty menu. We went with a couple beers, a shandy, a Schnitzel, mixed fish plate and the whole fish. Everything was so delicious and we could see the singular chef working and the singular woman wait all the tables. The only thing was that the shandy was actually made on site, with sprite and beer from tap. It was an interesting flavor. Would recommend this to anyone to get Hamburg classics!

Der Bacon war in Fett oder Fritteuse gemacht, völlig zusammengekräuselt und geschmacklos. Ich habe noch nie so eine schlechte Mahlzeit für 19,50 € bekommen wie hier. Als ich bezahlte und der Mitarbeiterin sagte, dass das Brötchen extrem trocken sei und sie es selbst sehen könne - es lag unberührt auf dem Teller - meinte sie nur: "Gehen Sie doch zu McDonald's nebenan. I ordered a burger with fries - it was truly awful. The burger bun was at least five days old; it completely crumbled apart. The fries were limp, not crispy or properly cooked - and had no salt at all. The patty was pre-cooked, reheated, and completely dry. The bacon was fried in oil or fat, curled up, and totally tasteless. I've never had such a terrible meal for €19.50 as I did here. When I paid and told the staff member that the burger bun was extremely dry - she could see for herself that it couldn't be eaten and was left on the plate - she said, "Go over to McDonald's next door, maybe they have something that meets your expectations." I'm shocked to hear something like that from an employee, especially after paying and offering honest feedback. Apparently, this business doesn't care about its customers - so the crap will continue to be served. So here's a good piece of advice: never go there - find somewhere else.

Had a perfectly good schnitzel with pepper sauce and appreciated that it was accompanied with spaetzle rather than fries, all for about 9 euros. A full bar and several draft beers complete the experience. It's not fine dining but it's good comfort food at good prices and convenient to several hotels.
