Fair Ridge OBGYN was recommended to me, and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience. I began seeing their team during my second pregnancy after developing a medical condition, and from the very start, I felt that both my baby and I were in excellent hands. Each visit was reassuring--their expertise and clear care plan helped ease my anxiety throughout my pregnancy and delivery. Dr. Zaita was the first to diagnose my condition. She took the time to thoroughly explain what to expect, answered all of my questions, and made both my husband and me feel supported and confident in our care. Dr. Pickford delivered my son and acted quickly in making the best medical decisions for both of us. She communicated clearly during my C-section, which helped me feel calm and informed, and she provided exceptional care throughout the procedure and recovery. Dr. Uthaman was incredibly compassionate during my appointments and went above and beyond by checking on me and my baby while we were in the hospital, which meant so much to our family. My family and I are so grateful we made the decision to switch to Fair Ridge OBGYN. We truly couldn't be happier with the care we received! read more

If I could go back in time I would not of picked this establishment for OB services but here's some key takeaways for those who need to go here. I wanted to wait until I went through the whole process before reviewing, so talk about an almost year wait to say my peace. I found this place through my insurance, however it did not update that I believe Dr. Hodges was retired. I purposely seek him as he specialized in an issue I was concerned over. When making the appointment they did not make me aware he was retired (assuming by the time I came along he might've just retired). One of the reasons I held out was because the first ob I saw was Dr. Uthaman. He is newer to the practice but has great bedside manner. And seemed to be pro for non invasive treatment and had knowledge on his belt on issues a POC may face vs non. I was lucky enough to have seen him a few times (wish it was more) during my time and he was one of the doctors that assisted in my delivery. Besides him I felt that Dr. Jabola, Dr. Zaita, and NP Fulop were safe bets. Dr. Black was the main doctor at my delivery and she seemed fine but that was the only time I saw her so I can't speak too much on her. But she didn't make the delivery miserable so there's that. I don't want to get into too many details of my gripes but here's a little snip of some things I'd note. I specifically avoided FNP Stone per reviews floating around. If I knew someone who was going here I'd tell them to avoid Dr. Pickford she's pretty condescending and rough. The front desk staff is a hit or miss. Sometimes you get a good one, other times you regret coming in and question why you continue to go here. As far as billing that can be a mess too (luckily that percentage for me of hot mess was low) All and all I'm glad I survived (mentally and physically) here. Avoid this office at all costs!! I saw NP Cynthia Stone back in November for my annual exams and perimenopause/menopause symptoms. She was dismissive, rude, and treated me like I was stupid. I explained what was going on and asked for help with my symptoms. First, she refused to do any blood work since she said it's useless. I explained I wanted a baseline. I also explained my irritability and mood swings, to which she replied dismissively "oh just go on an SSRI". She completely ignored my request for help with my symptoms. I was finally able to convince her to write blood work orders where she gave me the worst look that said "you're an idiot but fine." So when I checked out I needed the blood work orders and waited 20 minutes for her to sign them. When I couldn't wait any longer I asked if they could email them. Sure. Except I never received them. I got an email from the practice requesting a review and wrote about it. That day someone from their office called and explained they would email the blood work orders, but didn't care about how their NP treated me. Well, the orders were not emailed but in the portal - so I need to call the unhelpful office again to get the invite code. No thanks. So, in summary, the WORST experience ever!! NP Cynthia Stone completely dismissed my concerns, put up multiple barriers to get the care I needed, and treated me like I was overreacting when I was asking for her help. Save yourself time and avoid this place at all costs. read more

So, so disappointed in my experience here. The reason I gave two stars is because I saw Dr. Hodges and Dr. Black for years, including through my pregnancy and delivery, and had a wonderful experience. Once I moved, I even traveled far for them to continue my annual exams. Then came perimenopause.... After I explained my (very common) symptoms of fatigue, mood swings, erratic period, etc., Dr. Black told me to come talk to her once I went through menopause (an entire year with no period)-- so I could suffer for possibly 10-15 years with perimenopause symptoms? She offered me zero solutions except that I should decrease my stress (for the record I do not work a high-stress job, my stress right now is from my aforementioned health concerns) and that I should exercise more because "people in northern Virginia are busy." When I brought up other solutions that have worked for my girl friends she told me they were made-up money grabs. Her tone was judgmental and stern. I felt completely dismissed, demoralized and gaslighted. If you're in your 30s or older I recommend reading Mary Claire Haver's The New Menopause and running far from this practice to one with more up-to-date physicians who believe their patients and truly listen to their concerns. read more

If you are looking for an OB to deliver you baby I would run far away from this practice..After seeing all the doctors throughout my pregnancy no one had the decency to tell us tha they would not be on call for the next few days. After delivering our baby no one came in to the hospital or even called to check in on me or my baby. At my 6 week check up Dr. Zaita told me to pay my bill or it was going to go to collections while she was conducting my appointment (1 week after receiving the bill). If you want a professional group of doctors do NOT go here. I am extremely disappointed and do not want any mother to have to go through what I went through with Fair Ridge OBGYN. read more

I love this office! Everyone is fantastic! Natasha at the front desk is lovely--always so nice and courteous, that it's actually pleasant to call and speak to her or see her as you walk into the office. The phlebotomist is amazing--she's the only one who I actually feel calm and relaxed with during blood draws. All the techs are friendly as well. Moreover, all the docs at this practice are great! I have seen them all multiple times as I had 2 pregnancies and deliveries with them. I feel comfortable with all of them: Dr. Black, Dr. Pickford, Dr. Zaita, and Dr. Hodges. Dr. Hodges has THE best bedside manner. Caring and truly listens. I had 2 large uterine fibroids. They were being monitored by my previous OB/GYN, Dr. Kinder. Never my favorite physician but up until my urinary issues she got the job done. I had been having problems with sometimes my bladder would not fully empty. I'd have to do some extra forcing. I made an appt to check what could be happening, and if my fibroids were the culprit. I had this same issue when I had my baby. During early labor, I suddenly could not pee at all. I knew I had a lot of liquid in there bc I was drinking a LOT. When I went in I had to have a catheter, and the nurse was shocked that I filled the bedpan. So my gut feeling was it could be the masses inside my uterus. She dismissed that as something she haven't experienced before and said I would need to make an appt with a urologist. That appt was in Feb. In March I woke up in the middle of the night needing to pee, but nothing would come out. I tried many times. I had to go to the emergency room. Got a catheter there again. I filled the bedpan again. Emergency room doctor said to keep cath in until urologist appt. Made an appt with the urologist, for 2 weeks later (that's what they recommend, to see how f the bladder calms down). In the meantime I went to the walk in clinic with my general practice office, because I'd been having bladder spasms. I explain what happened during childbirth, and my fibroids, and she says she has never heard of this before. Just want to add the above so the expertise of Dr. Hodges will be very clear! I googled and found Dr. H. and made an appt. In the meantime visited the urologist, had cath removed, and could pee again - hooray! As soon as we sat down, after weeks of feeling sad and worried about what was going on with my body, I could finally feel heard and I was so relieved. The first thing he said was, Oh yes, it's the fibroids. That he see it with his pregnant patients. And he tells some tricks to help - like getting on all fours and rolling my midsection up and down. A lifesaver! He examined me and says my uterus is the size of a 17week pregnancy! And a hysterectomy is a good idea....I AGREE! He was wonderful as a surgeon as well. I got an infection, he took great care of me. I can't say enough. Grateful to have found Dr. Hodges. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I feel completely compelled to after my visit. My appointment was schedule with the nurse practitioner - Cynthia Stone. I have NEVER met a health professional so COLD and RUDE and ARGUMENTAIVE and DISMISSIVE in my life. I am a responsible adult who cares about my health. I have the annual recommended exams (physical, gyno, derm, dentist, opto, etc) and visit a few specialists in a year. I say this because I have visited many doctors (or NPs). We've all had had experiences with doctors (or NPs) who don't have the best bed side manner or tell us things that we don't necessarily want to hear. But, I have NEVER truly considered WALKING OUT of the exam room as much as I did then. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE, especially in such a vulnerable position. It made it 10x worse. I do NOT recommend Fair Ridge OB/GYB and most definitely do NOT recommend CYNTHIA STONE. At this practice or anywhere else. She is extremely cold, rude, argumentative, and dismissive. We moved recently and needed a new OBGYN for my second pregnancy. Heard great things about Fair Ridge OBGYN especially Dr. Hodges. Everyone from the Front Desk, MA, Doctors, and NPs have been amazing! Everyone has been so kind, helpful, and courteous. All of my questions and concerns were answered and later in my pregnancy, they saw me right away if I had any concerns. I was lucky enough to have Dr. Hodges deliver my baby girl and my experience was AMAZING. Dr. Hodges is extremely patient and has impeccable bedside manners (something that is extremely rare nowadays). I avoided what could have been a traumatic birth and a possible C-section due to his expertise. I could have 10 more babies if I was guaranteed the same birthing experience all over again. I entrusted this practice with my first child born in 2020 and now my second due this May! Dr. Pickford delivered my daughter through c section and it was the best possible experience it could have been. Had the most horrible experience with the staff. Dr. Black was my first experience with a OBGYN and despite the bad reviews she had, she did an excellent job. She was so kind. However, I had another appointment scheduled for personal reason and I got multiple texts, emails, and calls to confirm. Then an hour before the appointment I get another call from one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to asking why I'm coming in. When I clearly said why her biggest concern was which code to use for billing. THAT was the concern not the patient. Never had such a horrible experience in my life. The only down side I saw was that the checkout desk was right across the blood lab, so people were lined up standing right next to my wife when she was drawing blood and random patients waiting at the checkout desk were staring rudely. Gotta love yelp... a 3.6 average for such an amazing group because people don't know how to use phone trees and can't get along with receptionists. LOL. My wife and I picked this group because she works at another medical facility near by and had heard great things. From day 1 everything was incredibly easy. We had the same girl at reception the entire time. I don't recall her name, but she is very pleasant, and after only our first visit always treated us like a couple of old friends when we came in. The nurses/tech's were all super sweet. Initally I came to every appointment, because my wife isn't typically comfortable meeting with doctors and asking questions, but after the first few visits she was so at ease with everyone that she didn't even make me come any more! We met with almost every doctor throughout the process. Dr. Black is very sweet, she's quick and to the point. Dr. Zeta, was very nice. Dr. Dehal left about half way through, but she was really laid back. Now as for Dr. Hodges.... He's absolutely the man. His bedside manner is incredible. When selecting the practice my wife was very concerned about having a male doctor. (She comes from a very conservative culture). After our first meeting with Dr. Hodges she felt so comfortable that she completely changed her mind about needing female doc's only, and ironically enough Dr. Hodges ended up being the one to deliver our first daughter! He has the patience of a saint and a demeanor that seems to make even pushing small humans out of your body seem like it's going to be a walk in the park. He answered even our most asinine questions without judgement. Most importantly to me: he is very knowledgable about all of the "theories" and "trends" that surround pregnancy, and proves very logical, concise and effective guidance to keep everything simple, natural (when possible), and worry free. I had such an awful experience with my first labor and delivery because of dr. Pickford and dr. Black. I had a healthy pregnancy but things turned downhill when I went into labor. I was having painful contractions but I wasn't dilated. I was scheduled to have an induction a few days later but I didn't think I could wait. Dr. Pickford was on call when I decided to check in. She checked me in and broke my water when I wasn't even dilated at around 9 am on a Monday and started me on pitocin. She asked me If I wanted epidural. Given my lack Of Experience I said yes not knowing that I should Ask if it was the appropriate time to receive epidural given that I wasn't dilated. I didn't dilate at all that day and the next day Tuesday in the morning or Monday at midnight, the shifts changed and in came dr. Black. I dreaded having her as a doctor because I had a bad office Experience with her. At 9 am on Tuesday morning I was only dilated 1-2 cm, I was swollen throughout and was given oxygen the entire night before. I asked dr. Black for a c section. She refused and said that it's better to keep trying for natural Even though I had not progressed and my water had been broken for 24+'hours. Finally around 230 pm, I was dilating more quickly but my cervix had swollen up and dr. Black decided it was time to have a c section. Some Where along the line that day, they detected meconium. I had an emergency c section and my Baby was delivered on Tuesday after 36+ hours of having my water ruptured, being on pitocin, and epidural. Because of the early rupturing of my water, my baby had respiratory distress and was in the NICU for one week. I had a Horrible recovery because I was swollen with drugs for weeks. The experience was a nightmare and could have been prevented if the doctors were competent entirely because I had a normal pregnancy and was very healthy. I'm not a doctor, but I know that breaking Someone's water should not be the first thing done and that you should not let a water be broken for 36+ hours before deciding to do a c section. Awful clinical judgements. The only Good person in this practice is dr. Hodges, but at the risk of crossing paths with his other incompetent physicians it is not worth going to this practice. I still have nightmares about my experience and the impact of the emergency and preventable surgery on my health. read more

I've been a patient of the practice for over 6 years and am close to delivering my third baby with them this summer. I generally see Dr Hodges or Dr Zaita and it is Dr Zaita who has delivered all my babies. I recently met with Dr Pickford as the practice requires you to see all providers prior to delivery. She was lovely and left a very great impression. The office staff is incredible. They are held to such high standards of care and are so friendly, timely and patient. My visits are always on time, the lab technician is very competent and gets her blood samples first stick. I love that they use a patient portal system that allows messages sent back and forth between you and your physician. Dr Zaita knows my worrisome ways and I never wait long for a reply...even if it be on a weekend. Wonderful practice and I won't be leaving! read more

1) I was baited and switched. I asked for Dr. Zaita, who read glowing reviews about. However, after being re-scheduled twice due to so called "Schedule" changes, I gave up and agreed to see Dr. Taub, who they said was available instead... 2) I saw Dr. Taub for a routine pap smear, but it was anything but... After the procedure, I started to feel pain, and called doctor to have it looked at. I was also concerned because I had IUD and it felt as if it was jarred loose. 3) During the second visit, Dr. Zaita saw me, but told me everything was fine and the pain would go away. Well... it did not, and when I called again next day, person who answered the phone made it apparent that they just wanted me to go away. I felt extremely unwelcome, and was shocked by their un-professional manner. I run my own business, and if I treated my customers like this practice, I would quickly lose customers left and right and be out of business in no time. The doctors are good. Dr. Taub, one of the newer doctors, actually seems to do a fabulous job of listening to your concerns and comes off as really smart (which most doctors just seem to be really experienced and practiced). However, the front desk staff treats you like an inconvenience. You walk in to a closed glass wall with people who are too busy to say hello, and when they do finally talk to you, they do so to make you finish whatever paperwork process they have to go through. I requested my medical records and they were incomplete. After I moved, when I try to call them to get the rest of the records, they can't even be bothered to answer the phone. You get a huge phone tree, and a bunch of answering machines. The doctors are fine. (Did I really need that C-section? Maybe. I'll never really know.) The rest of it is a disaster. read more

My husband and I love this practice. It's their practice's policy for you to meet all the doctors and I thought that I would not like the male doctor, but Dr. Hodges is one of my favorites! Actually, they're all super nice and knowledgeable. I switched to this practice in the middle of my pregnancy because my last doctor was absent minded and didn't take charge of my medical issues (but that's another story). Anyway, their nurses are really nice and friendly - especially Lauren! She is super helpful and accessible! My delivery didn't go as planned. I had a high fever and baby risked having an infection so we needed to get a semi-emergency c-section. Dr. Zaita was my surgeon and she was just awesome. SUPER quick and cut, and my healing is amazing. You can barely tell there is a cut (of course, there is one - but it's barely there). All the doctors are, of course, super friendly and professional. I'm not sure why this place gets such bad reviews on Yelp. I've been coming here since I moved to the area, on recommendation from my best friend's mother, who, herself owns her own OB/GYN practice in VA. My best friend also comes to this practice - she drives here from MD to do it! I had Cindy Stone until she left (she was wonderful and I miss her), and now I am with Stacy Dehal and she is super nice. I haven't had children yet so I haven't experienced pregnancy, prenatal, post natal with this office, but I don't see why my customer would change. My experience here has been nothing but fantastic. I usually schedule appoints with Dehal about 3 months out and never have a problem getting an appointment. The receptionist is always very nice and she has been the same one since I started seeing these doctors. I had a procedure done after an abnormal pap, so I was freaked out, and Cindy Stone did the procedure but because she was a practitioner she had another doctor in with her coaching her through the process. I was pretty emotional and that other doctor came and held my hand and totally made my day from that nerve wrecking procedure. I THINK it was Dr. Hodges, but I'm not sure (it was the male doctor). And the scheduling of appointment was fast, now set for my first appointment with Dr. Hodges! (The lady is quiet nice, too.) Scheduling/Phone: 4 stars! I'm a patient here and I love this office and its staff. It's really hard to find an OB where both the doctors and the staff are friendly and professional. Even during COVID-19, I was able to make my necessary appointments. My doctor (Dr. Pickford) is incredibly responsive on the online communications. I received a thoughtful response within 24 hours always and she even helped me fill my prescription when I was on vacation. She is thoughtful and patient with my questions, helping make sure I understand everything and each step of the process. I have four children... 15, 6, 2 and 4 days, all boys! My first two were delivered by the doctor who delivered ME. He was a very old-school, play it safe kind of doctor. In hindsight, knowing what I know now, I would have told my 17 year old self to say NO when he insisted on a c-section delivery. He wouldn't even talk about a VBAC with #2. Fast forward to #3... original doctor retired and, after a TON of research, hubby found me the best local NOVA doctor group - the one all the doctors and nurses go to for their own babies, Fair Ridge Ob/Gyn Associates. At 20w it was discovered that our third son would be born with bilateral clubfoot and they found many other concerns - as such, they had me closely monitored by maternal fetal specialists who would work in tandem with them. Every two weeks we had a detailed scan to monitor baby's progress. The whole time my plan was a VBAC. Dr Hodges stressed he would work with me as long as: 1. I went into labor on my own (no induction) and 2. Baby came before 39.5 weeks (risk of uterine rupture with two prior c-sections. At 39w, 4d I walked into my scheduled c-section SO UPSET. I'm deathly allergic to all narcotics (ANY codeine products which includes everything from Tylenol-3 to morphine) I am literally limited to OTC Motrin and Tylenol). So, c-sections for me are EXTRA brutal. Turns out, I had placenta accreta, a condition where the placenta grows through the uterus and fuses to other organs. It went undetected in ultrasounds. A vaginal birth would have killed me, likely before I even made it to the hospital. Accreta typically means two things: a blood transfusion and a hysterectomy. Thanks to Dr Hodges, I still have my uterus. 10 days postpartum I had a uterine hemorrhage (which was related to the accreta). Dr Hodges' quick response to my phone call where I described my symptoms saved my life for a second time. I got pregnant totally by accident in January. Like, I know how that whole things works .. the birds and the bees... still, I had no warning as we were taking preventive measures. Anyway, my ENTIRE 4th PREGNANCY I was TERRIFIED. I was monitored again by maternal fetal, this time they were specifically looking for accreta which is very hard to detect via ultrasound. I never really got excited or felt connected to my pregnancy because of my fear of DYING delivering this child. On Tuesday my husband drove me to the hospital and I sobbed the entire way there, the whole two hours pre-op, and walking into the OR. This time, Dr. Zaita was to perform my c-section. She's equally as talented and I trusted her, too. I was still just completely scared. Anyway, THIS TIME they calmly walked me through what would happen in the OR: anesthesia would come in and do the spinal .. I remembered last time the hospital's anesthesiologist yelling at me to stop trembling or I'd be paralyzed. She no longer works there. She assured me this would be different. They told me they were "going in" assuming that I DO have an accreta despite there being no evidence of me having one. They'd have blood products on hand. They talked to me about a hysterectomy, they'd only do it if necessary. But the "hysterectomy tray" would be in there. The hospitals intensive care pediatrician would be in there in case there were any complications with baby. They gently over communicated. They talked about post-op pain management.. the anesthesiologist had some new ideas, new meds, etc. They were so kind and gentle. We walked in there and I was still terrified but my doctor, instead of running around the OR, stood in front of me and held my hands. When they started the spinal she held my shoulders and rubbed them to calm me, she put her forehead on mine and asked me about my other children. We talked about teenagers, private schools, baby names. She never let go of me and her forehead never left mine until they were done and laid me down. NEVER have I had that experience and the distraction worked. I was calm(er) and felt safe. During the surgery, after they took out baby she did something no other doctor had done: she held my blue, crying, covered-in-vernix, still-had-his-cord, brand new baby above the blue drape so I could see him. I've never seen my baby before they were cleaned off. I cried happy tears. After they measured him, cleaned him and wrapped him, the pediatrician excitedly took photos for us. Baby was crying so she brought him to my face so I could talk to him and put my skin to his. As soon as she was able to (surgery wise) she unwrapped him and pulled down my gown and put us skin-to-skin.... I've never had that experience and it was absolutely amazing and beautiful. I'm 4 days postpartum and I feel great. My pain was half as bad as I'm used to thanks to creative thinking. If you're looking for a new doctor, one who will be your advocate, tell you like it is (nicely) and also just be so understanding and gentle: I highly recommend Fair Ridge OBGYN. I have nothing but positive experiences with Fair Ridge. I feel comfortable seeing anyone there. They have great bedside manner. Dr. Hodges delivered both of my children so of course, I have a soft spot for him because of that. However, I have had no issues with any of the doctors at Fair Ridge. The front desk is always polite as well. I've had no scheduling issues. They always remind me to schedule my wellness visits if I didn't do so in advance. read more

It's a shame that they have at least one kind and caring doctor at this office, because the majority of the staff is completely rude! Today I called the office TEN TIMES to try to make an appointment to see my doctor urgently. When I pressed "3" to try to schedule an appointment, the phone rang and rang and went to voicemail. Other times they would answer and quickly hang up. When I dialed "2" instead to see if I could reach a nurse, the phone rang, someone picked up, and then they hung up without so much as a "Hello?". When I finally did get a hold of the receptionist, she was cold and rude, saying simply "Fair Ridge OB/GYN, one moment." and put me on hold for over five minutes! I hung up and called back, the phone rang and went to voicemail again. Once more I called and got the same "...one moment...", to which I interjected that I would not hold because I had already been on hold for over five minutes and I wanted to speak to someone now. Their response? The receptionist spit into the phone, "What do you want?", what????? My response of "Excuse me?" was enough to have her correct herself, "How may we help you?" but the damage was done. I am taking my business elsewhere. This is not the first time that the staff there has been rude and terrible. The nurse who saw me once instead of my doctor was completely cold and threw judgmental glances and comments my way as we made it through the procedural questions. When she called me with my results she answered the majority of my questions with, "Well, I don't know," and never offered to get answers for me or share any helpful information. When I called later with questions, my calls were never replied. Rude and unprofessional staff. All except for Dr. Dehal, it's a shame such a sweet and knowledgeable doctor works with such an incompetent staff. read more

Dr. Hodges is great...staff is very RUDE and the wait in the office is usually over half an hour. When you call, they pick up, and then put you on hold immediately...usually for about FIVE MINUTES. Seriously?? EVERY time. I've been going there for over 5 years now and every time it's the same. The same woman at the front desk who has been there forever mumbles and when you ask her to clarify she gets super annoyed and snippy when she has to repeat herself, almost as if people ask her to do this a lot and she's had enough of it. Not my problem I can't hear you. She also has major attitude, which I get we all have a bad day, but after five years of grumpiness (in person AND on the phone), it's time to shape up or get a new profession where you don't have to interact with others. The wait time is horrible. Make your appointments in the morning (oh, and make sure life doesn't intervene, it's not a secret that if you cancel they push you out three months to try to discourage you canceling in the future). Sitting in that waiting room for over half an hour is awful. I really don't understand how a business thinks they can treat customers like they are a nuisance. I'm really questioning finding a new doctor where I'm treated like a PAYING CUSTOMER and not an annoyance. read more

I was fortunate enough to find this place through another doctor's recommendation. The entire staff was with me throughout my pregnancy journey. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Dr. Hodges ended up delivering my baby boy. I never once worried about the delivery, I knew I was in good hands. In addition to being one of the top rated doctors In our area, Dr. Hodges also has a great bed side manner. I was impressed with all of the doctors at Fair Ridge OBGYN and the staff was always courteous. I rarely had to wait to be seen, and that's saying a lot since I had over 12 appointments. I called for an appointment the previous day and asked for a doctor. I was told it wasn't necessary to come early, but to just cone at the time. I was scheduled with a nurse practitioner without my knowledge. I'm the morning I was stuck in the rain and called before my appointment that I was running ten minutes late. When I reached I was told that I could not be seen, that I needed to come 30 min early, and that the nearest appointment was next week. I said I was here abd that I had taken the morning off for the appointment. I could wait if they could squeeze me in, and I was told no. read more
