Pro - location. Northampton is a great little town. Also, the front desk staff is extremely friendly and is doing their best to go above and beyond. But, I had to knock off a star because the Wifi in the rooms doesn't work. This is a massive disappointment for what is supposed to be a modern hotel. As is the case with technical things, I assumed it was a me problem. The friendly front desk staff explained that the public WiFi works fine but the guest Wifi is problematic. This means that after driving for 2 hours and arriving hangry and with hours worth of work to do, I have to sit in the lobby to get anything done. It is challenging to focus because there are other groups here talking. I am loyal to the Marriott brand and have the gold lifetime elite to prove it, but I don't think I will stay in this hotel again. After a day of work, I want to be able to settle in my room, order some food, take my bra off, and do the work I need to do to get ready for the next day. So I must say, this is a huge disappointment. read more

Very clean and well organized, disability friendly hotel. Decent parking and friendly people. Breakfast was ok with very good coffee and a number of options hot and cold. They have wine and beer for sale. Neither selection is great but duckhorn reds are a strong option. No IPAs for beer and that's disappointing. Wifi was also disappointing and the TV was very strange, rebooting several times before we could watch anything. Hot water seemed limited when we were there but perhaps they were booked up and we were all using it at once? We enjoyed our stay and will return. read more

They said they would put me on a waitlist and call once rooms were available for booking (by end of May), but they assured me that we would be able to get a room. On June 1st I hadn't heard so I called and they said I am still on the waitlist but they haven't determined pricing so there is a delay in releasing rooms. I just called to find out it's sold out. I love new hotels. I travel so much for work and I stay in some weathered, old spots sometimes. So, I appreciate new, slightly used and very clean facilities. I'm here for a short weekend in Northampton to enjoy a show, chill with friends, shop and eat. This location is just outside of town and walkable in good weather. There are plenty of parking spots and the staff is friendly. Free breakfast is a typical spread for Fairfields...something for everyone. Free breakfast anywhere is always a lovely bonus. Small indoor pool and gym are well maintained. Lobby area is modern and open. As a Marriott rewards member, this spot makes me appreciate good hotels again. read more

we stayed for a few days last week. the hotel is adequate .. it is clean but not a particularly good value. perhaps it's the location or a popular weekend but it was definitely over priced. very limited closet space and only 2 drawers for clothes. wall paper was peeling in one spot. maid service was slow. we were out for half a day and returned to an unmade room. they did send a crew up upon request. breakfast was bland.. mostly scrambled eggs and over done greasy sausage Pattie's industrial toasters didn't work well pleasant staff but nothing special ... had a glorified motel feeling read more

After the first night I spent in this hotel, I had a major complaint. I was going to spend the majority of this review ranting and railing about how ridiculous it was that the curtains didn't close. I was going to excoriate them for designing a hotel room that faced east without blackout curtains, so that the blindingly bright light of the rising sun inevitably pierced my tiny, hungover brain, and kept me from sleeping past 7 am. Then, on the second night I spent in this hotel, I discovered that I'm a moron. After an embarrassingly small amount of fiddling, I figured out how to close the curtains. And so, I have no major complaints. I like this hotel. The rooms are reasonably priced, clean, modern and spacious with free wi-fi and plenty of convenient electrical outlets. The shower is solid, the bed is comfortable, and the woman running the breakfast downstairs is funny enough to crack herself up, if no one else. The primary thing this hotel has going for it is the newness. My room door was stuck so badly you had to kick it to get in. The shower door was stuck so it wouldn't close. Water ran all over the floor. It was cold water as well, as the hot water on full hot was lukewarm, about 99°. It took two calls and a day to get it all fixed. What kind of housekeeping staff doesn't report a door stuck so you have to shove it to open it? I would have tried to change rooms but there is a pee-wee hockey thing going on in town and every room (and the hallways, and the common spaces) are full. I had 14 of the ADHD small-fry with sticks banging little rubber pucks hither and yon down the hallways at 6:30a on my first day. Called down. Nothing happend, at least for the 45 minutes or so until adults scooped up kids for breakfast. The pee wee hockey thing also tested their parking, which is very undersized for the number of rooms. You have to park in the newspaper lot next door which worries me about towing, but there is zero spot to be found when the place is full. Housekeeping was horrible to deal with. I left the room at 10:45a and told the housekeeper in the hall I was out. I came back for something at 12:30 and the room wasn't done. I asked the front desk to tell housekeeping that the room could be serviced. I came back at 9:30p. and it was still not done. I called the front desk. The gal down there tells me "Well all the housekeepers have gone home." I told her that wasn't my problem and to get a manager on it. Nothing. I spoke to the shift supervisor (No managers available either in the evening here, another big shortcoming). He finally went up and serviced the room and at least got some fresh towels to replace the ones soaked by the open shower door. There are a lot of these new hotels springing up that are well designed but they can't seem to find hotel staff as shiny and new and competent to run them. When I brought all of this to the attention of the manager at check-out, I was told that, because I booked through Hotels.com that they couldn't issue me a credit. That's a lie (I'm a frequent booker), but she was adamant about it. I talked to Hotels.com. They called and spoke to Lamar, the manager. He told them that he didn't appreciate this review (I originally posted on Trip Advisor) and that he would not give me a one night credit. To their credit, Hotels.com made good on the credit. I am a seasoned, regular traveler. The biggest thing in all of this mess would be an apology, especially for wanting to penalize me for being truthful about my stay in social media. I would not stay here again if you paid me. read more

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Northampton - from the posh (and PRICEY) Hotel Northampton to the dump of a Knight's Inn a few minutes away from Main Street - and this is by far the best one in town. Sure, Hotel Northampton is in the center of it all, but they don't offer much in terms of amenities, and one night will run you $200-300 depending on the time of year you go. Fairfield Inn & Suites is most definitely in walking distance to Main Street (took us about 6-8 minutes) and has the following amenities: -An indoor pool - I used it - it wasn't big but it was warm and felt blissful on a snowy January day. -A fitness center - I used that, too - new treadmills, an elliptical, and free weights, all you could really ask for in a hotel fitness center. -Complimentary breakfast, which was excellent. There were both hot and cold items such as waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, toast, bagels, English muffins, pastries, cereal, yogurt, all kinds of milk (including soy) and even hot cocoa, complete with whipped cream. You could be a vegetarian, vegan, or a regular old omnivore (like myself) and have a filling breakfast here! The rooms themselves are spacious and modern, with sleek desks and sleeker flat screen TVs. The bathroom was large and I loved the glass shower stall. The king size bed, linens, and pillows were luxurious. They also had good customer service - the staff refilling/keeping clean the breakfast station were polite to us, as was the gentlemen stocking the pool towels/cleaning the restrooms. The woman who checked us in and the gentleman who checked us out were also very professional. I would return in an instant - the hotel next door better step up their game (we've stayed there before, too) because they have some serious competition! read more

Brand new facility, so the small gym has nice new equipment, the rooms are sparkling new with plenty of outlets, good work desk, comfy beds, well designed bathrooms (ours was fully accessible, I wonder if all the rooms are), environmental controls are excellent. The drawback of a brand new hotel is usually that the staff doesn't know what they are doing yet, but even though they are still getting used to the layout, they are both competent and friendly here, even in the middle of the night. The location is good for Smith College or Amherst. There's only one sort of negative and that's the price. There's a number of events going on this weekend so there's limited room availability and prices shot up, this place isn't quite worth the $180/night all things considered, but it almost is and I'm sure the prices will drop for more typical nights. read more

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn to attend our friends' wedding at the nearby Log Cabin, and we had a great experience. Our room was spotless and very modern, thanks to what seems like a recent renovation across the entire hotel. We were a big, rowdy group, and the Fairfield staff was welcoming and very accommodating throughout our stay. The other amenities were tiny, generally speaking, but they did exist: small indoor pool plus gym, which was essentially two treadmills and some free weights. The included breakfast left a little to be desired (the turkey bacon seemed a bit old and over-processed but eh, we were just thankful that something was available to cure our Sunday morning hangovers. I'd definitely recommend the Fairfield Inn to anyone traveling to Northampton for business or pleasure! read more

There was trouble using the hotels.com app, the site didn't even send our reservation to the hotel! At check in we weren't even in the system! Showed them the necessary confirmation emails, payment etc. Simone (manager) and Veronica we're super friendly found out the problem and accommodated us to the max for the inconvenience . Solid four star experience. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our stay. The hotel has an app that let me check in remotely. We arrived at 10:30 on a Saturday night and had a pleasant check in. The lobby was well lit, the front desk staff was quick and efficient. We grabbed a few snacks and headed to our room. The king sized bed was comfortable and the room had a microwave and mini fridge. Best of all there was a little half room attached to the bedroom area with a couch and second tv. Very helpful since hubby wanted to stay up a bit and I was exhausted. I barely heard the tv in the other room and slept so soundly I forgot where I was in the morning. In the morning I ventured down for coffee which was very good - and they offer soy milk without having to ask for it! I didn't eat but there was fruit, toast, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, and a waffle station. Everyone eating seemed happy. The shower is beautiful. As a matter of fact the entire hotel is beautiful -- modern decor. Everything is crisp and bright. My only negative is I woke with a splitting headache. I suspect it was the pillows were bigger than I have at home and so my neck got out of whack. Not sure. While it's not my favorite hotel in Northampton -- we tend to prefer an old fashioned decorated hotel -- this was definitely a good choice since the fancy hotel was booked. This property is nice and new - even so you can tell the staff take pride in a job well done. The lady taking care of the coffee area after breakfast was delighted when I complimented the way it was cared for. She keeps that area welcoming. They do not skimp on things here, and it shows. Paul Mitchell toiletries, teas and hot cocoa offered with the coffees, a great spread for breakfast. There's a container of pens in the business area. You will feel completely welcome when you walk in the doors and it stays that way until you have left. Great staff - great hiring, training, and motivating. Kudos to whoever is managing this property! The beds are comfortable, with many pillows of different firmness, so you can choose the type of pillow you prefer to use. Great desk area with plenty of room to work, lots of surface space on the cabinet holding the television, too. If I had to find one complaint? It's not easy - there's no freezer in the fridge? (Didn't need one - it's a nice sized little fridge, by the way. The worst part of our stay was that we had to leave. Oh - there is ONE thing... they failed to ask for our Marriott rewards number, so we got no credit for our stay. (Not a big deal to me now, because I'd save rewards for years and my account got hacked and they were stolen) read more

This is a clean, fairly recently renovated hotel with good service. The location, while not exactly in the middle of the business district, is close to downtown, and the prices are reasonable. There's a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, and microwave in each room. I had a little trouble with the wifi (the interface tries to trick you into selecting the fast version instead of the free version, haha), and the pool is tiny, not really worth considering unless you have young restless children. In the exercise room, the clock is not working and the water dispenser is not always refilled, also there are only a couple of machines so it could get crowded I suppose, although I didn't have a problem. I really appreciated that they took their time cleaning up the breakfast, it's served until 9 but for a little while after that, you can still scrounge some food and coffee. A good option for a base while exploring the Northampton area. read more

This is a really solid spot and is now my go-to Hotel for visiting Smith and Mt. Holyoke Colleges. The hotel is clean, the facilities are up to date, paint is fresh, the rooms are VERY QUIET and I had a great night's sleep. People were really nice. There is not a lot of character in the rooms but that's the deal with a chain. This is a nice place to rest your head (that might be my one comment...better pillows would have been nice. In July, we stayed at the Fairfield as the primary block for our friends and family coming in for our wedding. We definitely had a lot of moving parts trying to secure a hotel, and as a result we were particularly anxious heading out to set things up for our guests once the weekend came, but the highlight that kickstarted our wedding was the trio of Regina, Crystal, and Jess who met us in the lobby when we first arrived. They couldn't have been more welcoming and disarming. We were immediately at ease -- and even with another wedding in the hotel that weekend, they were so organized and helpful. We hate to feel like a burden, and they helped us feel so confident to be able to leave welcome bags, and they were so clear on how we could make things both easy for them and us. The hotel as well was such a great space for many people to congregate -- a great lounge area for breakfast, large rooms to spend time -- but, more than anything, when reaching out, we can't speak highly enough of Crystal, Regina, and Jess. They set us up for success and set the tone for a wonderful and successful weekend stay -- so be sure to ask for one of them by name! read more

I'd love to give this place 4 stars but a couple of things hold me back. Good things first - Super comfortable beds and pillows sink in and off to dreamland. Great friendly, caring staff both at the front desk and taking care of the rooms. Nice bathrooms with a shower stall you can throw a party in or at least invite some close friends. So why minus a star ? Two things first was the cost $250 a night with a 2 night minimum. Look I get that it is college move in time but an we make a little less hay when the sun shines? Normal rate here is $170 or so with no minimum stay. Second was the breakfast on Sunday. Maybe they were particularly crowded but the place was a mess with cereal all over the counters Oatmeal that was the consistency of water and little egg omelets burnt around the edges. Now part of this was the patrons fault for being slobs but the breakfast server/preparers could use a little more help. read more
