The preparation our daughter received at Medina Goddard for grade school allowed us to send her to Kindergarten with confidence and most importantly she was a confident 4 year old ready for kindergarten. The facility was clean, the classrooms are nice and again, the STAFF WAS AWESOME. My daughter has been attending Kids Academy since 2017 and my son since 2020, and it feels like a…read moresecond home for them. Many of the teachers who were there when my now five-year-old started as a baby are still there now taking care of my three-year-old. They did a great job keeping everyone safe during the pandemic and managed to close for only two and a half months. It has all the convenience of a corporate daycare center, but has a tight-knit family vibe, which is nice. Probably the biggest con is that they don't provide lunch, so we have to pack their lunches every day. They do provide breakfast and an afternoon snack, though. You can tell the teachers genuinely love and care for the kids. My daughter had some behavioral issues when she was three, and they were so patient with her and worked with her and us to get her through it, which I really appreciate. My daughter will be going there a few days a week this summer, and they have fun field trips planned three days a week for the school-aged kids. Next year will be my son's last year there full-time, and I'm genuinely bummed about it!

This is a long overdue review; however, it gave me time to put my emotions aside and formulate a…read morefactual, to-the-point review of my very negative experience with Primrose Schools of Solon. Upon first visiting Primrose, I was incredibly impressed with the new, clean environment. Everything was up to date, security was on point, and things appeared very sanitary. The director at the time was very kind and knowledgeable, and she did a great job selling me on all of the reasons why Primrose would be a great fit for my daughter. I felt good about the decision, and a few days later gave my deposit for her to start when there was an opening - which they promised would be no later than end of September. End of September came and went, and no word from Primrose. We came to find out that the director I had spoken with had left, and we were completely forgotten about. Red flag #1. Once I finally got through to them and had my daughter start, it was one issue after another. I specifically asked them not to give my daughter milk. She was given milk on three separate occasions. Each time, I reminded them - both verbally and via handwritten notes. Since she does not drink milk, she was dying of thirst when I picked her up and would suck down her water on the way home. Red flag #2. I was told (and it was documented in paperwork) that a backup lunch is offered if the child does not like what is provided. It was communicated in my daughter's notes three times that she had not eaten any of her lunches. Thankfully, I picked her up before nap, so it was not an issue and she was able to eat when she got home. Red flag #3. In the short time (three months) that my daughter attended, there were not one, not two, but THREE different directors. I understand there is turnover in the childcare industry, but WOW. Something is obviously very wrong! Red flag #4. And finally, the last, and most notable occurrence. I wrote up an email outlining all of these issues and sent it to the franchise owner, Jana Massary. She took her time getting back to me and let me know that she had "several meetings" and would be back in touch with me later that day. From the moment she called me, I knew it was going to be a bad interaction. She was incredibly rude, demeaning, and, quite frankly, the exact opposite of the type of person you would want caring for your children. She issued zero apologies for anything we had gone through, and proceeded to hang up on me in the middle of the conversation. I would say that she's someone that clearly can't take negative feedback, but what I provided her were straight facts and experiences that we had while my daughter was in their care. It is clear that I would advise anyone and everyone from choosing somewhere other than Primrose. There is nothing "warm" about the school, and it is clear that it stems directly from the leadership. It is no wonder that teachers are electing to leave at such a rapid pace, and from what I've heard, families as well.

Sometimes they would staff the young kids rooms with fresh faces without enough training to provide parents the lesson plans they have for their children. So the kids would be left roaming free doing whatever they wanted. There would be times that the kids were finally calm and was learning how to self regulate their emotions and then a new teacher comes in and changes the atmosphere. And sometimes they would assign teachers who gag when it comes to potty training kids which sets some kids back because they are thinking that they are doing something wrong with the reaction that teacher is giving. There is no consistency with these teachers and they keep rotating all the teachers around which causes chaos. There hasn't been any more lesson plans given to the parents because the teachers never know which class they will be in. There has been times where I would come in early to pick up my child, only to hear the tablet speakers blasting and the children staring at the tablet and watching DannyGo. There are other times where I would come in and hang out with my kid a bit in the morning and smell the strong odor of marijuana on a teacher as she walks in to start her day. They aren't always consistent to checking in your kids into the classroom so you can look on the app and see how their day is going by either looking at the posts from the teachers or logging into the live video feed but only if they are checked in by the teachers. They are very adamant when it comes to parents checking in their children but aren't when it comes to teachers checking in their children. Overall, we used to love this place and loved the staff that were meant to teach. There are still some people there from when our kid started and we love them, but we can see that them being short staff is effecting them. These teachers play such a huge roll in these children's lives so it's important to keep them happy and honest. When I talk to another parent they were noticing a difference in the teachers' attitudes as well. So seeing some of these teachers' patience running thin shows that they need some extra training because kids will be kids and they need guidance. We also didn't appreciate when the the director Richelle took 9 days to respond to us about some concerns we had when it came to them being short staffed and causing us issues because they were not able to care for our child. Child care is expensive enough so waiting 9 days for a statement to be corrected only to get charged a late fee in the process while waiting is ridiculous. Really wish Ashley was the director because she is always prompt with responses and she is so caring and respected amongst all of her peers and children. The children all love her and listen to her. She knows how to handle difficult situations and how to properly de-escalate any issue with both adults and children. Hoping this place gets better in the near future for the children.

The teachers in the two Infant classrooms are fantastic. I have heard all sorts of horror stories from other daycare centers, and was so glad to have found one that really strives for quality. The odd time an empty food container isn't sent home or the wrong crib sheet is put into my kid's bag is irrelevant. I know my child is being taken care of, and the teachers there really love him. And I love seeing him progress with things like sign language or the noises he makes, and knowing they are helping him developmentally as well. Goddard also uses an app that allows you to get updates during the day, pictures sent to you throughout the day, and for you to send the center messages if you forgot to tell a teacher something at drop-off. Other daycare centers in the area use paper/pencil for daily reports, and provide much less information. And the pictures really help me get through my work day sometimes!

I do not recommend the Akron Goddard School for many, many reasons…read more First, my 15 month old was transitioned to an older room by himself (not in a group of peers) abruptly, with no overlap or plan in place to help him adjust to the new routines and teachers. His drop-offs got worse and worse until we removed him from the school. I later learned that there is supposed to be a written transition agreement plan signed by both the school and the parents. Second, when we made friends with other families in the same room, we learned that we were being charged $200-300 more per month for the exact same service (same number of children, same number of days/week, same room, no meals). These families were not part of any corporate or income-based discount, were not aware of being on any promotional rate, and started at the school after us, so they weren't being grandfathered into a lower rate. When we spoke to one family and asked what they paid for 3 days vs 5 days a week, they were perplexed because they had been told it was a flat rate no matter how many days they sent their child. When we tried to ask the owner why we were paying $200-300 more per month than other families, the owner would not make himself available to discuss the issue and we had to go through the director. She was kind about it but couldn't give us any explanation. When the owner finally contacted us, it was through email to tell us he would not refund our pre-paid August tuition since we left voluntarily. In the same email, he accused us of threatening the director and cced his attorney on the email. Finally, the owner lied to us during our initial tour. He told us (bragged about it, actually, which is why I remember it so clearly) that all additional activities (like soccer, dance, gymnastics for example) were free to all students because he does not want children to feel left out. This is why, he claimed, they charge a larger yearly registration fee-- to cover the additional activities. This turned out not to be true. They did charge us a larger yearly registration fee ($300) compared with other schools in the area, but we learned that any extra activities cost extra. I do not recommend the Akron Goddard School. If you are already there, I recommend asking others in your room what they pay for the same service and being very proactive with making a plan for your child to transition between rooms, because they did not look out for my child's well-being in the transition and I did not know enough at the time to insist on anything else.

Primrose has very high standards for their teachers, which we appreciate. We also like the philosophy of balanced learning, and a structured daily schedule. We're confident our daughter will be well prepared for kindergarten thanks to the learning plans and environment Primrose creates. Additionally, the building and classrooms are very clean (I toured other places that were not as impressive). We also love that Primrose provides lunch and snacks! Not having to prepare food in the morning or night before is a fantastic perk.

They couldn't even tell us to our faces what they were doing. She almost immediately stopped biting upon starting at another local school. This place has a fair amount of turnover in staff, many of whom have minimal experience in child care relative to the other comparable local schools. i would not send my worst enemies kids here !…read more 1) this is the worst company i've ever worked for. 2) Management is not supportive of their employees and are filled with so much drama. 3) they'll tell you they're here for the kids but will turn around and keep a child abuser as a teacher for months and will only fire her due to state being called! 4) you'll never see management helping out with the younger kids downstairs unless state officials are around! 5) The way they treat their staff is aweful. if you haven't been there for years they will treat you like garbage. 6) if you walk past the staff room and the giant room you'll see a sticker that says "breastfeeding room" however they only out that up due to a complaint being filed to state. they never let their post partum employees pump but since state was called they asked their post partum employees to sign a form so they can appeal to state however nothing has changed with the pumping time. 7) they will talk about and bash your children when you're not around. as well as they will talk about your parenting skills. 8) working here will making you depressed and rethink ever sending your kids into child care. this place is sent straight from hell. and the managements mother is beyond messy! she'll tell everyone's businesss and smile in your face. it's family owned and they talk about being a family but once you really start paying attention you realize how awful this place is!
