The alcohol is unbelievably cheap and came in around half to 3/4's the price I would normally pay on a night out! I was let in early to move the tables around, decorate and bring in the food. To hire the room only cost around £50 and it was a fairly big room with a dance floor, bar and we also hired out a live band to play as there is a stage. The bar closed at midnight and we had to be out an hour after that, we had to clean the majority of the rubbish away which is fair enough but they did not mind you leaving the black bags there. I have not gone since but my parents (early 60's) go every week or so and they continue to enjoy it as they have live bands and bingo on throughout the week and weekend.

If you've ever been inside a working men's club then you'll know what to expect. If you haven't been inside a working men's club then you simply need to watch an episode of Phoenix Nights. Usually - i.e. when the market hasn't taken it over for the afternoon - you'd need to either be a member or be signed in by a member to enter the building, so visiting when the market is on is probably your best best. Inside there is a fairly large bar / function room with enough chairs and tables to comfortable seat 150 people (this is a guess - it may well be more) and there is a large bar that is well stocked and cheap as chips. There is a small stage in the corner that is used during the market by DJs and acts. Off from the main room there is a smaller bar that I've not yet been in. Overall the place is friendly, clean and welcoming and if you live in the area it's probably somewhere you should have a look at. You may even want to consider joining it as it provides a welcome alternative to The Three Horseshoes

Despite the club's primary purpose, the room is more suitable than you may imagine, especially following an extensive refurb. It comes with a large dance floor and the necessary PA rigging, although private DJs would be needed. It also has its own bar, and while mild on draught may not suit every 18th birthday, engagement or anniversary party, the wines, lagers and bottles - for an eyebrow-raising, competitive price - should tick all the boxes.
